(sigh and epic facepalm)

Thank you pirates. Thank you so much.
Its because of you little shits that companies like Ubisoft feel justified for pulling shit like this. This has to be the worst DRM idea I've heard of since SecruROM. (another sigh) Well.. at least the PC version comes with all of the DLC...

It's rather obvious they're just trying to make people buy the console version so they don't even have to worry about PC piracy. I'm actually surprised they're still pretending to give a crap about the PC market at all. I'm primarily a PC gamer who just bought Dragon Age and STALKER: Call of Pripyat, so we're not all pirates.

Wow. Say goodbye to my money, Ubisoft.

The sad thing is that this will only affect legitimate consumers. It won't affect piracy, as warez groups will just knock up something that emulates the Ubisoft server. Games companies are also using DRM to try to reduce trade-ins, but honestly, who trades in a PC game? Can you even do that?

The sadder thing is that when the PC version of any game with this DRM bombs, Ubi will blame piracy, when in actual fact its more likely to be because people don't feel like being reamed in the arse by DRM.

This isn't about pirates. It's about an excuse for unannounced illegal(becomes legal if you accept the EULA or whatever it's called) monitoring, of people's private data.
This will certainly, not be the last time, a gaming company makes, that exact same idiotic dickmove.

Woe betide is the most elegant phrase I've seen in a long time. Using it certifies you as a gentleman and a scholar. Using it in the same sentence as the phrase "crap out" makes you a bad-ass.

Andy Chalk: a gentleman, a scholar, and a bad-ass.

Right, that's it, I'm not buying it.

This isn't a boycott, I just don't need that kind of fucking hassle when I play. I'll go play a game that doesn't treat me like a potential criminal.
Say what now? I love when games swear and spit in my face.

Oddly enough, one begets the other. Funny how GREED is the root cause of all this, as its companies that want to ensure an income and pirates want to ensure their free gaming. Oddly enough, it'll be the pirates that save gaming and eventually, all entertainment media. Evetually companies will recognize that their methods of protecting their product aren't working, and their safeguards are only hurting sales. Things will change.. They just have to bang their collective heads on the cinder block wall of consumerism a bit more for them to get it. Can't Play ACII on your lap top at 37000 feet? Or on a train thru a particularily hilly area? How about watching that Blue Ray movie without an HDMI? Hope you like your High def. in 1080i.. Makes you really appreciate spending that $4500 on the new LED. DRM is the WRONG way to manage fair distribution. Always has been always will be. You can thank MICROSOFT for that fine idea.

You know, you could all boycott the game instead of pirating. Just a thought...

As a PC gamer, does Ubisoft not realize we are an unforgiving bunch? Do they also not realize we complain like there's no tomorrow?
I like you lol. You call it like it is, and you don't care. Most people just call out others but not themselves. A tip of the hat to you sir!

Ubisoft have always had the worst systems[footnote]usually, and mostly on less popular titles[/footnote]. It shits me (to the point where I won't buy it, having already purchased the game on PS3 kind of detracts from that though) as my router crashes at least once a day, and I don't want to have sacrifice single player games. No doubt this (and the huge delay in the release of the PC version) will have a serious impact on the games sales, which will of course be blamed in it's entirety on piracy...

Whatever, just wash your hands.
it occures to me that really the retail establishments need to do something about this, the publishers might not listen to us but retail has an annoyingly large amount of influence in game design and drm shit like this is costing them sales since ppl would rather just pirate it instead of deal with this shit

Excuse me? It sounds like a testing ground for subscription-based gaming.. this is worse than any sort of DRM to date! Imagine the inability to play games you like again years down the road if they require this.

This is beyond unreasonable for paying customers

GO PIRATES! GO PIRATES! GO GO PIRATES!

Ubisoft are trying really hard to lose the PC market. I really want to support my hobby, I now have 135 games on Steam and not a single one of them contains limited install DRM or was purchased after the DRM was removed by the publisher.

If Ubisoft moves forward with this type of DRM, they have lost a customer in me. If being a legitimate customer means having less access to the product and paying to be treated like a criminal... where it comes to Ubisoft, I may as well start batting for the other team.

What we need to do is find the people responsible for this style of DRM, and connect the power supplies to all their televisions to a single switch. Then, when they get home and settle down to watch House or whatever show they might watch after a long day working, we can push the button and it will cut the power to their televisions.

Don't they realize that if we're playing a pirated copy their idiotic DRM scheme will not have any effect on our ability to play the game anyway?
