Are they buying the 3D TV for me, but seeing as their brain fart DRM is hurting their profit, and they made that POS game about the movie of Smurfs with the storyline of dances with wolves...no, I think they have been hitting the weed a little hard in the last few months.

Not to mention I'm still paying off my 42" LCD from last year.

Im not putting stupid glasses on my face so I can be even more underwhelmed by 3D than I already am in theaters. I never intend to get a 3D tv nor does anyone in my family, I would take a high quality HD or Plasma over 3D any day of the week.

Yeeeeeaaaah, um, let's get real. Most people still don't have HDTVs yet, and even fewer have Blu Ray or can actually take ADVANTAGE of an HDTV. People don't just go out and buy new television sets all the damn time, guys, they need a reason to get one. Like if their old one breaks. Something more practical than "but this one can play the 3D movies that I don't really care about." I mean, really--all that money for Avatar or How to Train Your Dragon? Half-decent movies they may be, but nothing that I or anybody else should be all that compelled to get a new TV over, I don't think. Shoot, I don't even plan to RENT either of them.

Within the next three years? Huge fuckin' stretch. I'm not sure my current TV will even break in the next 10, and HD hasn't even caught on completely yet. One technology at a time, guys.

Unless they start giving them out for free, I don't see it happening. Don't be stupid Ubisoft.

I love predicting future! This reminds me of all the 60s comics/sci-fi, where they all thought we'd be rocking out in flying space cars by this point. Yeah, that sure worked out great. Same thing with this Ubisoft announcement.

Personally, I'll be skipping the whole "3D with glasses" thing as far as home entertainment goes. Too much hassle, too little (if any) gain...

Are they giving them out? I don't even have a LCD or Fancy-esk TV. Hurray for Standard-def Gaming!

Not in my living room. Even if they would cost less than ordinary TVs I still wouldn't buy them.

3D tv is pointless. Reason why, it's not exactly 3D, this type of 3D can only go so far. If they intend to make actually 3D they are gonna have to jump right back to square one, and start all over.

they also predicted the video phone in 1950 by the 1960s, but we had to wait until now for Facetime to come out

Firstly that is not something I can see happening. Secondly it's something I don't want to see happening. It may just be me but I think 3D looks worse. It puts me off and I can never seem to focus on anything.

I just upgraded to HD this year, so I sincerely doubt that I'll be getting a 3d TV any time soon. Maybe when they improve 3d without glasses. Until then I tend not to buy any tech until it's less than $1000.

...although I'd consider wearing stereoscopic contact lenses for something akin to a holodeck.

I find 3d annoying and gimmicky, I don't go and watch 3d movies anymore because I don't like paying more for a shitter movie and i'm betting i'm not the only one. Hopefully this is a fad, as I really don't want 3d staying.

And 2001: Space Odyssey predicted we'd have a lunar colony by now and launch a manned mission to Jupiter. And look how that turned out. :p
The difference is, 2001: A space Odyssey was an absolute masterpiece. This is some PR guy at Ubi overstepping his bounds.

Regardless, while it isn't entirely unreasonable to speculate that the price of the TVs and glasses will drop to an affordable level in three years, it still isn't likely. The technology just isn't developing quickly enough.
Exactly. It was a good thing and even ITS predictions were wrong. How can a PR person hope to exceed it then? :p

hehe...hehehehe...HAHAHAHAHAHA....[b/]BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!![/b]...hehe...ahh

...Oh shit they're serious.

Considering a lot of people I now don't even own a HDtv yet...yeah, that's fucking lightly. I really don't understand why big companies keep trying to force this 3D shit down our throats. I don't know anyone who wants to stick on some silly glasses everytime they sit down to watch tv, and seeing as the majority of people also get head acks from it...seriously, why?

Now you give me a TV similar to what the 3DS is doing with no glasses and a dial I can use to turn down the 3D at a reasonable price...then maybe we'll talk. We won't be talking by 2013 though.

It sounds like Ubisoft is running for president with their "A 3D TV in every living room, a 3D chicken in every pot" slogan.

Considering there are people who can't even afford a literal 3D TV, (i.e. one that exists in 3 dimensions), a statement like that makes me suspicions... what are Ubisoft up to, what's their agenda for 2013?

Perhaps in 2012 they're planning to initiate some cataclysm that eradicates all the poor people in the world, and then Ubisoft will rise from the ashes as the head of the New World Order in 2013... their dastardly DRM was only the first portent of the Apocalypse, the next stage will require everyone to have a Ubimark tattooed somewhere on their body in order to buy and play their games...

Sorry, I got a bit carried away there... but only because even the most wild conspiracy theories start to seem credible when compared to the utter fantasy of a statement like "Everyone will have 3D TVs by 2013".
