Britain does have something resembling the First Amendment, right?
Nope, we use common sense.

I... Really don't have a problem with this guy. He said that, and nothing will happen. I would get about as angry if the crazy guy on the high street who yells about how we should all be reading the Bible to ward off aliens told me Medal of Honour was un-British (what a GREAT word!)

Plenty of soldiers I know are behind this game, they want thier story told. Plus there is no Taliban campain, you just play them in Multiplayer like Cod. Didn't see Fox get pissed for playable Nazi's in COD: WAW. Fox needs to stop bitching.

Great, now I want to be able to play through a story campaign as a Nazi officer. Come on that would be cool.

Oh wow this is stupid...

Screw you government... you don't have any idea what's going on.
I'd argue that the Minister of Defence has more of an idea about what's going on in Afghanistan, and the effect that's having on British soldiers and their families than EA, an foreign games publisher, does.
EA is American...
I'm not sure you noticed this, but to Brits, Americas IS foreign.

OT: it is a little distasteful, but it's no different. Sone of the enmies in Modern Warfare are Taliban in all but name. It's nothing to get worked up about

So they're foreign to Britain, yeah.

Which makes them foreign...
Yes, thank you all for your truly enlightening geography lesson.

Now if you could look at what he had written and inferred, then you might see what I was getting at.

And that's exactly why he should go back to his office and shut up. He knows the toll exerted on families on both sides of the war - Do Allied forces not have families now? But I suppose it's alright to represent the US/British forces somewhat accurately but not the terrorists, right?

I am appaled that children play cops and robbers, robbers are bad they have shot pepole and steal money. Lets ban all cops and robbers on the playground.

Really? come on i swear politicians do this shit just to piss pepole off, this has no basis and seems rather disconnected and reactionary. To think in 40 years it will be someone from my generation pulling this shit.

Un-British? Trust a Tory toff to say something like that.
Kindly shut up about things you know nothing about and never will do.
I would hardly say Liam Fox was a 'toff'.

I don't agree with the shitstorm that has been kicked up by both sides of pond, cause the ability to play as the Taliban in Multiplayer. Its not like it has a hidden message that pops up for half a second saying 'Kill the Infidel'. I personally think politicians should stop talking about video games.

Or the recent Chris Morris film Four Lions, which creates a comedy out of a bunch of hapless suicide bombers trying to carry out their mission? What's that Liam? oh, right. you didn't think too hard about all this. Figures.
You, sir, win an internet for bringing that film up.

I honestly thought our government wouldn't start this kind of banning game nonsense, I don't know why I am surprised, but I truly am.

So what exactly does the UK military do to people? Tickle them into submission?
Point well made. Of course, what our military does is okay. They're fighting insurgents after all, not human beings.

Anyway, it's unlikely I will have the interest or money to buy Medal of Honor (see? even the spelling is un-British!) but nonetheless, this typically alarmist politicians response annoys me so.

Given how predictable it was, I wish I had placed some sort of bet down on the inevitable tabloid/government outcry over this game. Nothing really surprises anymore.
