As long as this doesn't go any further, I don't care. He's an idiot, and it's people like him who make me wish our government wasn't so stupid.

Tory Politician helps EA's marketing campaign by upping the controversy around the game.

How much of a kickback did he get?

Okay, what the hell is so bad abour Medal of Honor?
Its not like in Multi-Player, you play as the Taliban and then blow shit up with planes.
Plenty of games have featured terrorists (at this point, im lighting up a 300 ft sign that says "Counter Strike"), even playable. What does the British have to make DICE/EA Los Angeles change their game so its telling LIES to the people who play it? Its not exactly a good thing when one game (EA Los Angeles SP) has USA vs Taliban, and then the other (DICE MP) feeatures some random stff about USA vs China. This isn't Bioshock, Liam

In cod 4 and 6 you play as terrorists and in cod 5 you play as nazis. Surely that is worse than the taliban?

I suppose someone has already brought this up, but I don't recall the UK raising hell over Call of Duty or Company of Heroes or any other game where you can play as the Nazis. I have it on good authority they killed way more Brits than the Taliban has.

And of course, the entire statement is spectacularly hypocritical. Soldiers kill people; it's their job. British soldiers have killed huge numbers of husbands and fathers as well, and mothers and daughters, albeit usually accidentally. Fox's reasoning is really very flawed.

Besides, it's only in multiplayer. I seriously doubt the game portrays the Taliban in a sympathetic light; they're just little pixel men intended for the purpose of shooting other little pixel men. I have a feeling Fox heard "Medal of Honorbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzplay as the Talibanbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzfight American and British soldiers" and went apeshit. Seriously, these people at least need to do a little more research before throwing a fit.

An orc killed my father. Ban WoW damnit! Heh, just had to say it.

Tell all the brits to play as the brits in the game too instead of complaining. Doesn´t get much more patriotic than that.

"What have you done today?" "Killed some talibans...." "Good man."

At the hands of the Taliban, children have lost fathers and wives have lost husbands
So what exactly does the UK military do to people? Tickle them into submission?
Not even that, soldiers arent allowed to fire upon the enemy unless 50 fecking essays have been written with the approval of God himself, or until they have been fired upon themselves. So essentially its an eye for an eye rather than *bang bang* we win.

OT: If i'm honest i think Mr Fox wasn't hugged enough as a child, either that or he would rather we were able to play as Russians.... again (because everyone knows that russia is evil -_-).

Also: I may or may not be exaggerating about the essays...

Oh wow this is stupid...

Screw you government... you don't have any idea what's going on.
I'd argue that the Minister of Defence has more of an idea about what's going on in Afghanistan, and the effect that's having on British soldiers and their families than EA, an foreign games publisher, does.
EA is American...
I'm not sure you noticed this, but to Brits, Americas IS foreign.

OT: it is a little distasteful, but it's no different. Sone of the enmies in Modern Warfare are Taliban in all but name. It's nothing to get worked up about

So they're foreign to Britain, yeah.

Yes, thank you all for your truly enlightening geography lesson.

Now if you could look at what he had written and inferred, then you might see what I was getting at.
Well done, unnecessary sarcasm solves everything.
But yes, I think I see now what was actually meant. Try to cool that hostility hm?

This is stupid, the Nazis committed far more atrocities than the Taliban have, yet it's been fine to play as them in the multiplayer modes of previous Call of duty games.
you actually play as the German Werchamit or something, not the Nazis my good sir.

Don't you play as the Taliban, or something similar in multiplayer matches in COD4 and MW2?

Why weren't those games called to be banned? Well 2 was, but that was because of the airport thing.
i think they ignored them because they did say there fighting any real group of people. for example the country your fighting in is given a name an dhte midle easter enemys are called op fo.

ot: i wish this would stop happening
