No disrespect meant, but I never really understood the appeal of iaido, perhaps because it was based on the premise of perfecting just four movements (I've probably gotten the wrong idea, though).

And seeing how partner practise is difficult at best, I tended towards kenjutsu for the purposes of sparring.

yay for sword fights, I too like to sword fight although I fight with my own style. I have been practising wing chun for about eleven years, by combing the principles of wing chun and how it uses the butterfly knife with the eight strikes of the Chinese broad sword and adding in a lot of Kenjutsu and a little bit of fencing I have come up with a fighting style that fits me like a glove.

I don't practice much now due to illness but when I did I used to scare the shit out of most of my opponents. The core principle of wing chun is to cause the maximum damage with the minimum effort after all.
most of the Kenjutsu enthusiasts were pretty easy to beat, even broke one guys hand. The fencers I would have to say gave me the most trouble. Very good art fencing, the poke of death is very hard to get past. :)

That's not to say I didn't figure out how to beat them but I've yet to fight anyone that can keep you on your toes as much as a good fencer.

So yea long story short I came up with my own sword style practised it like a religion and then used it to hurt a bunch of people ( some quite badly).

Yea I'd say that's unique.

Feels kinda nice to write this, I never share this info in real life, there's always some stupid twat that thinks swordsmanship is a game or I'm like those sad sacks on youtube that think they are samurai's and of course they want to have a go.
Then I have to hurt them. Honour demands it.

I don't like hurting people but I was taught that martial arts is all or nothing you either train like they did in the old days and take your knocks or you don't train at all. Maybe I take it too seriously but it feels right. ya know.

You actually made me grin for the first time in a while (in a good way).

Just wondering... have you ever fought against a yari-wielder? Personally, those who are good scared the crap out of me (especially when it's a juumonji-yari), and probably still do at that.

I collect bottle caps. Not alcohol ones, just J2O and Coke.

You never know when. Never.
They laugh at us now, but when the Apocalypse happens we'll be able to buy up all the fancy clothes and Rad-Away we could ever need.

Where I work we sell a lot of bottled beers and Ciders so I've got loads of caps.

No I haven't, I trained with a spear, it's one of the core weapons of wing chung. I gotta say sword Vs spear is a bit uneven. The spear wielder has a big advantage if he knows what he is doing. As confident as I am in my skills I reckon that would be one rough fight. I'm kinda curious to give it a go now. No scratch that I really want to give it a go. I like the tough fights they make me feel alive.

As mentioned elsewhere on the forum - I keep chickens. In a city.

Although I might have to eat my cockerel this weekend if he keeps going off before 7am. Sod the neighbours - I hate being woken up before 7am.

I design and build lego models. I have a very large collection back at home, but unfortunately, there's not really any room for lego in my dorm room, and I haven't really had time to build in a while. A shame really.

Heh, me too. I've got an almost finished and damn big battlecruiser standing around because all of my stuff is now at my grandparents' house which is a 4 hours drive away so I don't get to build very often.
Aw well, I've got Minecraft to make up for it at least...

And in the future I might have to add "paramedic" to my hobbies seeing as I won't have the time to do it full-time once uni starts in septembre. I hope that hobby's uncommon enough for your needs.

I fence as well, and I get those exact same looks. I find it not only to be a good stress reliever but a great way to stay fit as well.

Other than that, I guess that I like puzzles and word jumbles.
