1) We're not IN the Galactic Republic so their laws are irrelevant.

I know a lot of people will disagree, but Ashley Williams from Mass Effect. Beautiful, sexy, strong willed, opinionated... There aren't many strong willed women, but damn, she is. Gotta love it.

I liked Ashley a lot once I completed her story arc. The strong will was enticing, but her ability to change her personal perspective once given the opportunity to do so made her great. I think a lot of people talked to her for the first conversation or two and missed that last bit on the Citadel that made her a truly likable character.
