Is anything safe anymore?! I only check my Hotmail every couple weeks, but I'll change the password anyway because there's some important stuff on there. It's a good thing I started using G Mail as my main account a few months ago.

That reminds me, I got an email roughly a month ago supposedly from the windows live team about some sort of hacking scheme that had happened at the time and that they needed my account password verified through their email or something or I face having my email account deleted.

Well, needless to say that amidst all the spelling and grammatical errors that I found all over their message, they never got my password. It's been a long time too since and I still have my email address.

I'm thinking of switching services sometime soon though.
It makes me want to rip my hair out that people still fall for that scam that asks for your password, when for well over a year or two now almost every service advertises that THEY DONT ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD. ARGH! HULK SMASH! [/temper tantrum]

Even if you're not the type to be caught by a phishing scam, it seems like now is the type to change your email password.

Thanks for the heads up, changed my password now. I'm surprised hotmail didn't send out an automated email warning people about this and recommending them to change their passwords... how irresponsible.

Wow thank god I saw this post (and thank more god I was already logged into hotmail).

My e-mail starts with a B and I went to change some profile settings that require a retyped password. *incorrect* over and over, so luckily I was able to send my self a password reset since I was still logged in and changed it, and my secret question and then I noticed my alt-E-mail was new, something I've never seen before.

Scary.

I giggled like a little girl when I saw that picture. Because I read the text first...didn't get it...then saw the cats eyes.

Finding my own email in a "C" list would be useful since I don't remember my own password :(

There were a couple people whose accounts I'd like to look in, though the chances of them being revealed are slim. And LOL at the people changing their password, pretending they're important enough to get hacked.

EDIT: Found a list, dunno if its THE list, and I'm not on it.

Fuuuuuuck! I'm European AND my name begins with A!

Then again I don't use hotmail or MSN....or any microsoft services beyond Xbox Live.

Ugh. People need different hobbies than fucking with other people's information. It's just rude. I guess I better change my password. -sulks over to Gmail-

if your live ID starts with an A, i recomend you be careful, maybe change is password...
and now MS has gone defensive blocking some ISP's mail services from sending to hotmail accounts, issue only now in process of being resolved..

It's funny if you read the update first and then read the first page comments. "Microsoft are so stupid, I'm so glad I have Gmail."

Well, I've been using this password for a couple of months now anyway, I might as well change it. But what to?

This is not just for Europeans. I had my WoW account activated by an unknown person. Luckily I was on vent with my friends and they saw that my character just logged on. They asked if it was me, and I told them it wasn't. I immediately remembered this story and swiftly took action. Changed all my passwords on EVERYTHING linked to my Hotmail account. The clever guy put [email protected] as the outside e-mail so he could reset my account. I changed that, and changed my security question.

After it was all said and done, I got a free month of WoW out of the deal. I am kinda worried that the credit card he used to activate it was a stolen one and that it is now linked to my name... *shrugs*
