No. No no no no, just no. You don't like the show? Fine, there are plenty of legit criticisms you can direct at it and even with the way some of the fans act. But the fact that you say that people that like the show should just disappear AND refered to them by a homophobic insult...just no.bibblles said:Snip

Phrases like the latter one are used as examples for the former one. Please get yourself under control, you're acting in poor taste and seem to lack a sense of decency. Being irritated is understandable until it turns into hostility.bibblles said:All of you pony fags need to crawl back into whatever yawning abyss you came from and leave the rest of us alone.
What does it being girly have to do with anything? Why is being girly a detriment? I watch big stereotypical masculine things all the time and it doesn't change anything. So why does this have a feminine theme make it bad?Genocidicles said:I watched a couple of episodes, and I found it to be a boring piece of shit that is too girly to the detriment of the plot.Worgen said:It does sounds like you are too insecure in your masculinity to appreciate some colorful ponies. Seriously, that sounds like your argument. "Men should only like manly things." My argument is "if you always take the path of least resistance, are you really a man?"
Oh they stop the bad guy by making friends with him. Well that was sure worth the twenty minutes building it up. /sarcasm
And what's the point of bringing up some fan video? You can't count that for anything, otherwise I could say Harry Potter is the darkest literary work made by mankind because of all the inevitable gore-fics out there on the internet.
Well then they'd have to pay hasbro.ThriKreen said:They could have at least put Rainbow Dash on the patch.
Come on!

Secondly... this is not the 41st century, there is no God-Emperor of Mankind, and the Ordos Malleus is not going to smite someone for liking My Little Pony. Calling them "Pony-Fags" isn't gonna help your side of the argument either.
I will agree in that people love using the "straw man!/poes law!/logical fallacy!/ad hominem!/ /thread" reply to things, it can get a little old to see it as frequently as it is used to make the person feel like they won the "argument", even if they are right/factually true.-Dragmire- said:Not a fan of the show but that's pretty cool.
Before I came to be a regular forum goer, I had never heard of the straw-man argument before. By now it should have it's own logo since it's used so much.Innegativeion said:Nice straw-man you have there.Genocidicles said:Oh here we go...
The old "You're just too insecure in your masculinity to appreciate some colourful ponies" argument.
Something like this.

oh i understand, and most of the time people are right, but there are times when people even use those wrong, or claim straw man when it really isn't a straw man, and then the argument becomes fuddled over "nuh uh!" and "yeah huh!" rather than what the argument/discussion was originally about. There have been pages of arguments that have had this happen numerous times, and it gets old reading that.NameIsRobertPaulson said:Well, they're called logical fallacies for a reason... they don't follow a line of logic. A strawman argument does nothing to further the conversation or address the issues at hand, hence why people call it out.

I'd like to apologize on behalf of the more easygoing Warhammer 40k fans for bibblles' outburst. I think some of us take the "burn the heretic" stance a little too seriously for our own good.NameIsRobertPaulson said:Secondly... this is not the 41st century, there is no God-Emperor of Mankind, and the Ordos Malleus is not going to smite someone for liking My Little Pony. I don't care about any argument made in favor of this bullshit. The ponies are an infectious plague, and will be dealt with as such.
Well at least the pilots in the USAF can show they aren't uptight all the time while still being professional, so I have respect for the pilots protecting my country [i/]because[/i] of this.Genocidicles said:Well at least it's not in the RAF, so I still have some respect for the pilots protecting my country.

True, and I prefer to just keep things short, simple, and to the point. Probably why I scratch my head in confusion sometimes reading posts on here, even if the person might be highly intelligent. (don't know if you've ever seen, but those polls/threads where people ask how high the I.Q. is of each escapist member, it was off the charts in genius territory -_- )NameIsRobertPaulson said:Well, the Escapist does have that ever ominous "elitist" tag for a reason. following into that, my own feelings on it:
I just don't like how often people resort to using it, it's like they have a special macro'd keyboard with all the logical fallacies on it, and people are just ready to pounce on anyone just so they can use it regardless of their own opinion on the matter or what the person even truly said/meant.
There are a ton of great pony 40k pics out there, here are a fewkael013 said:Well at least the pilots in the USAF can show they aren't uptight all the time while still being professional, so I have respect for the pilots protecting my country [i/]because[/i] of this.Genocidicles said:Well at least it's not in the RAF, so I still have some respect for the pilots protecting my country.
OT: Not much of a fan of the show (I only hang around bronies for the dubstep and the cupcakes), but this is pretty funny. However, the patch design is pretty weak; they should have had the rainboom [http://images.wikia.com/mlp/images/6/65/Rainbow_Dash_Atomic_Rainboom_Explosion_S2E3.png] on it [i/]somewhere[/i]. Way to miss an opportunity guys.
