You have a very childish and short sighted sense of justice. I think you fail to realize this man has a family that would likely want to see him rehabilitated (Which is supposed to be the entire purpose of the criminal justice system.) You also fail to take into account the actual opinions of the victim and the victims families, which should be infinitely more important than either of ours. We also don't know much about the mental state of this guy, so we don't know his psyche profile. He very well could need to be institutionalized for quite some time.

This is all, of course, ignoring the hypocrisy of the eye for an eye argument. After all, that only makes the world blind.

The fella is clearly fucked up on a psychological level, which means something went horribly wrong in his life. Because no sane man at the age of 26 wakes up one morning and says "i will rape a kid today, then I'm gonna beat him up and them I'm gonna brag about it".
I mean, as horrible as this sound, the kid still has a shot at recovery, even if with scars, while this guy fucked his entire life and, like I said, no sane person does that.
