I'm really interested to see just how bad this could possibly be. Like a train wreck you can't look away from.

I could take this in a direction that could get me badly banned and flamed into hell...


So I wont....Why Uwe Why? Why cant you just make a terrible movie about...umm....Final Fantasy or something no one really liked...

Uwe boll is the worst of the worst. The only reason hius movies aren't all labeled 'Alan Smithee" is because he took a heavy blow to the head as a child and became self-deluded about his talents.
I'd rather watch another Frank Vogel or Lars von Trier movie than an Uweboll film.
I'd rather watch Re-genesis, which is someone pretending to do an autopsy on a latex replica body and then just decides to fuck it instead.
I don't mind ugly movies that tackle gruesome subjects, but it looks to me like this is just Uwe Boll jerking off to the thought of making people uncomfortable and hoping to fill theater seats with people too curious for their own good.

Aside, I think it's probably not the best career move for him to pursue a shock jock/mutilation movie he marks with "Never Forget" and the topic matter is quite possibly one of the sorest moments in human history. It sort of says that the movie should be taken seriously, and he respects the subject matter at hand, when the trailer says otherwise.

It appears to be an accurate representation of a serious subject, that in all honesty, the average person really doesn't have a clue about.

HOW DARE HE ADDRESS SOMETHING WITH HONESTY! WW2 is only about killing Nazis.

What I'm say is that he is a man that started a movie with a light hearted joke about the 9/11 terrorist attacks forgive me if I can't see him doing a respectful job at depicting the horrors of Nazi Germany. The fact that he's German will only cause the unavoidable sting that comes from this movie to hurt even worse as it will likely be taken as the guilty party not taking what happed seriously.

I myself am part German and I know of at least one of my relatives that was an SS officer and I makes me sick, strangely on that same side of the family I have Jewish blood in me as well because the brother of the SS officer married a Jewish woman fled to America and had children.

Because there hasn't been a plethora of terrible movies, TV movies, TV shows, games, books, comics, etc based on WWII until this point? His nationality really doesn't mean a thing, if anything it might make him approach the topic more honestly or carefully than others have.

And just because a film is graphic does not automatically make it a torture porn.

Why is this that bad? I mean do you feel pity for the jews? Auschwitz is fair game. He wouldn't be the first to make a B-movie about Nazi atrocities. "Ilsa, She-Wolf Of The SS" went there as did dozens of other such films from the late 60s onward, some serious, some not... in worst-case scenario this film won't be any more or less remarkable than any of those films were...

I am not a fan of Boll or his work. But I'll note he has admitted to manufacturing controversy to draw attention to his films [http://loadingreadyrun.com/videos/view/330/An-Interview-with-Uwe-Boll]. If you find this distasteful, the best approach is probably not to give him any free publicity.

For one, there is no way Uwe Boll will have a career anymore if he makes a disrespectful Auschwitz movie.

Two, this isn't a video game movie so he doesn't have any leeway to screw up the story.

And seeing as how he's a talentless hack, and how he is to directing as Stephanie Meyer is to writing fiction, he WILL screw this up, and we won't have to put up with this shit movies anymore when someone lights HIS ass on fire. I'm sorry I just don't see that happening, maybe with another German Filmmaker but not With Boll. Yes I saw Rampage and it was a piece shit, It wasn't deep, it wasn't smart, It didn't offer some deep insight in the mind of a tortured teen, it was barely competent and thats the highlight of his film-making.

Actually, I've spoken with the guy on several occasions, and he is an okay guy. The critic boxing matches was a hilariously awesome idea. I'm not a big fan of his films (most of them are very shitty, but mildly entertaining) but the man himself is alright.

Clearly the material needs to be handled with a bit of tact, but so what? At least he is branching out and trying something new. That trailer doesn't seem to suggest that it is anything more then a graphic depiction of what happened there. Which we really shouldn't be afraid to face.

And like others have pointed out, there have been distasteful films about the Nazis for years, but no one complains about them all that much.
