Bad Company 2's starting kits in the multiplayer kits were absolutely shit compared to what most of your enemies already used. Except the Recon's M40, that's still my favourite sniper rifle in that game.

Gee what else is there...most of the weapons I wanted to name have already been named. Can't think of anything.

anything found in the toy store in Dead Rising
I wouldn't say the toy helicopter-machete combo is useless. Slicey death that is.

The Gravity Gun.

I'll take a bullet fired at the speed of sound over that, thank you.
True, but I liked it as a sort of mobile shield, especially in Nova Prospekt. Just pick up a heater or something similar and voila; instant protection.

A broom. (I won't mention any specific game)
In most games where you can use a broom as a weapon there is an arsenal of swords and other lethal weapons, but noooo go kill someone with a broom.
It's funny that in AC2/B the broom isn't an awful lot less powerful than any other blunt weapon. It's rather easy (and oh so satisfying) to go on a killing spree with it.

Blade Of Woe from oblivion. Impossible to keep charged and no duration on the enchantments.

By the time you find it in the game, I found the Mag-Net Launcher in Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time to be quite useless. By then you already have the Groovitron Glove and the Cryomine Glove, both of which are far more effective at keeping enemies distracted/at bay than the Mag-Net Launcher. So why bother bringing it back from Tools of Destruction? I never used the damn thing after I finished leveling it up.
Actually, I beg to differ. The Mag-Net Launcher was a powerhouse. It only took 1 shot to kill almost all standard enemies. Ok, it has kinda low ammo and can only hit 1 opponent at a time, but when upgraded somewhat, it really had some kick to it.
I love the Groovitron Glove, mostly because I can just distract tonnes of foes and them bombard them with the bomb-glove-thing (forgot the name, but it upgraded to throwing mini-nukes)

OT: I'd say that any parody weapons from various games aren't worth the effort, but more to date, I'd have to say flamethrowers. Oh sure, they're good for cooking with (and not just a lovely meal), but they eat through ammo in any game, not to mention the terrible range and damage-dealing, despite setting the foe on fire. But to counter-balance that arguement, the Incinerator (a type of FT that shoots balls of napalm rather than just blows fire) from Fallout 3/NV are pretty nifty, assuming you can hit your target.

Grenades in Mass Effect.

There's a reason they were removed in the sequel.
Grenades in Mass Effect were awesome. They rarely killed enemies outright, but they often reduced their health enough that I could easily kill them with my Assault Rifle after a few short bursts. And they looked cool.

EDIT: Oh, right. OT.

Erm... Pistols in Mass Effect seem to be OK weapons on their own, but there is no reason to take them instead of Assault Rifles. Play through on easy as Soldier, get the ability to take an Assault Rifle as any class at all, you never need any weapon again bar maybe the Sniper Rifle for long-range kills.

Also, the rocket launcher in Lost Planet doesn't do crap against any Akrid that can move at any reasonable speed.

Not really a weapon but...Darwin's Danger Shield from TF2. It gives the Sniper 25 extra health...which is great except that Snipers are supposed to be far away from the action so having a tiny bit extra health means bugger all. Especially since the thing that kills Snipers most often are other Snipers and Spies, both of which will still instant kill even with the extra health.

25 extra health on a Medic, now that would be useful.

Half of the Melee weapons in Left 4 Dead 2... why would you take a Frying Pan or a Police Baton when you can have a Katana?
O the comedy of killing a special infected with a frying pan! particularly hilarious in Verus Modes XD

your knife in Metro 2033 or the knife in general prior to the one hit kill trend. that or your own fists in any First Person Shooter that lets you use your fists.

How about the wrench in BioShock? Did anyone use it after they got the pistol? And the drill in BioShock 2? That thing used up fuel so fast the rail gun was a better weapon and it could barely kill the thug splicers.
You did play Bioshock, right?
The guns were terrible, I killed everything with my wrench.
I had me some serious love for the wrench, I always bought the tonics to max it's effectiveness, and I had a blast with it...

The Sheepinator from Ratchet and Clank. Funny? Yes. Effective? No.
Oh yes. Ratchet and Clank 3 Multiplayer, the ultimate humilation. I just wish they'd have made the rainbow afro-nator an actual weapon.

#4) Poison stab (Assassins Creed 2) This had no purpose for anything other than giggles (or ad least i could not find one) it made enemies take out there swords and start waving them around.
As far as I could tell, it made the guards stand around distracted for a while longer, although I've never had to use it myself.

O.T. The Rock-It Launcher, also from Fallout 3. OK, it was entertaining, and wasn't exactly that weak, but you had to carry around a load of junk and you had to be careful that you didn't accidentally fire away anything that could be used to make something useful, like a Bottlecap Mine. For me, that rendered it useless compared to the Minigun and other such awesome big guns like that.

The heavy weapons in ME2. To me they are either overkill or not much better than regular guns. I never found myself using them. By the time you pull it out, my soldier could have killed half of them already

Half-Life 2's crossbow
How is a weapon that can kill most enemies in one shot useless?

Is it because it doesn't kill them instantly?
It's cause I'm just up to Nova Prospekt and so far I've found no use for it besides pinning one Combine to a billboard. besides that, i've not found any uses for long-range weaponry in this game. oh, and whenever i did try to use it the Combine just side-stepped the bolt as if I was throwing paper at them or something

Apple of Eden from assassins creed brotherhood, it drains your health and can barely kill any of the guards but it works wonders on my assassin recruits

Wait, the MIRV and Poison Hidden Blade are totally NOT useless.

I have very fond memories of the MIRV. I loaded up on Mini Nukes, headed to the Capitol Building, and blew the #%@^ out of a Super Mutant Behemoth. Also, bridge filled with cars + 600 mines + MIRV = WIN

As for the Poison Hidden Blade, besides allowing you to kill a guard completely unnoticed (even stealthier than the Hidden Blade) the psychotic guard would make a great distraction, and attract nearby guards (as well as civilians.) Then, you just need to throw some money on the ground and let the good times roll as people get smacked.

OP: Most of the weapons in Crackdown 1 and 2 are pointless. Once you get the machine gun with massive clips, the Firefly homing rocket launcher, and a couple of novelty items, you're pretty much set for the game.

Archery in Dragon Age : Origins, if your DPS went to high you would get threat then you would be dead, I found it useful once and only because it was a awakening char and I was lvl 18, your damage doesn't get very high anyway.

The Machete & Cricket Bat makes such satisfying noises <3

The SMGs in Mass Effect 2 drove me up the wall they were so bad.
