"Videogames Cause Rape" Author Gets Amazonbombed

I think it's just as much her and her book being discovered due to the frequent use of her quotes, as much as a concious effort to get back at her. Fact is? The book is offensive exploitation. In a book shop, surrounded by other books, it's not a big deal and is a matter of personal choice. Now that she's trying to get famous, it's backfired by having thousands of displeased people looking for revenge stumble upon her shitty book and reviewing it accordingly.

For that reason, most of these can't in good conscience be taken down... they are real reviews based on what people really think, whatever their original motivations might be.

Just reading the description of the book makes me feel a little nauseous. It sounds like the kind of drivel you find in crappy women's magazines like Glamor - from the sounds of it the title should be "How to Act Like a Manipulative *****". And talk about hypocritical - using sex as a topic to sell her book, while condemning another media for having sexual themes?

Anyway, i want to take this time to bring up one of the old controversial issues: XXXXXX. XXXXXX really aggravated a considerable amount of people because of the "this game allows you to kill people in violent ways, and then piss all over their corpses" thing. It was crazy, immature, insensitive, poked fun at every existing minority group and was generally just not very friendly. However, the reason im mentioning this is because despite all of the graphic and bizzarre content in XXXXXX, you never HAD to do any of it.

Back to original point: People make their own decisions, games cannot be blamed for them, although im assuming that someone who read this post will try and say otherwise.

That thing is gaming's dirty little secret, and the fact that you didn't have to but could led almost every gamer to do so, on their own volition. This is one example that might even prove some of this fear-mongering tripe. Never mention it again!

This book was full of nonsense and easily detectable misspellings and punctuation errors. I thought it was a joke at first like maybe it was trying to be funny in it's presentation but I could not ignore the problems beyond the first 5 pages. I would assume that this is a book that is self published and the author must have provided her own editing. In terms of the message presented, the author would seem to pass off mere speculation and hyperbole as fact. I don't see an ounce of evidence to suggest she is even a licensed physician to make the connections she posits in her writing. I would highly recommend you do yourself a favor and spend the 10 dollars this book costs and buy yourself a box of fortune cookies instead. At least you will get a message from the cookies that might ave a lasting positive impact on your life instead of this dribble.
