Ironically enough, reading her book is much more likely to cause a man to act violently toward women than any videogame.

She's supposed to be a psychologist, doesn't she realise that passive aggressive manipulation is one of the things that enrage men the most?

yeah, it does, and one thing the people on fox will never realize because they're too close minded is that games don't cause a thing; it's mankind that causes everything

I love Amazon.
My favorite Quote:

This book was full of nonsense and easily detectable misspellings and punctuation errors. I thought it was a joke at first like maybe it was trying to be funny in it's presentation but I could not ignore the problems beyond the first 5 pages. I would assume that this is a book that is self published and the author must have provided her own editing. In terms of the message presented, the author would seem to pass off mere speculation and hyperbole as fact. I don't see an ounce of evidence to suggest she is even a licensed physician to make the connections she posits in her writing. I would highly recommend you do yourself a favor and spend the 10 dollars this book costs and buy yourself a box of fortune cookies instead. At least you will get a message from the cookies that might ave a lasting positive impact on your life instead of this dribble.

Without wishing to look smug -

Called it!

Quoting myself on the 8th: "Anyone think her books on Amazon are going to suddenly start getting 1 star reviews along the lines of 'I've never read any of her books, but I'm entirely of the BELIEF that they've led to an increase in rapes' ?"

Part of me things she's an unfortunate pawn of the Fox network, who just thought she could get some free publicity by being their sock puppet and spewing just the right amount of utter bollocks, but most of me things, good, if everyone gets similar treatment for spouting lies for money, then maybe they'll consider whether a short burst of sales is worth losing your reputation over.

Hell keep it up and Fox might run out of 'experts' and have to ask some ...experts instead.

A serious note to end on however, I'm not so pissed about the attack on gamers, I'm angry at the baseless use of RAPE to score some meaningless points about a game that, while I think it'll be fun, will be forgotten in 6 months, and it's not even a realistic shooter. Rape is not something to be used to score points, and from the kind of stuff she writes , she SHOULD be above such things, unless she actually believes it, in which case she's just fuckwitted, not evil.

Lol.

Whining about rape in video games then publishing a book about sexual manipulation?

Yeeeeaaaaah.

Honestly, i don't even care about "showing the world gamers are level headed". I'd much rather sacrifice our PR to put this hypocrite in her place.

I can't stand people like this. They get on their high horse, and yet they're just as guilty, if not moreso, for the sins they are preaching against.

I'm sick of the whole good / bad girl / guy obsessions in modern culture. I hate the focus on being a "renegade" or "bad girl" to get anywhere in life. It's false and it promotes bad characteristics. I'll tell you what, if my girlfriend barely acknowledged me, spoke down to me, and flirted with other men in front of me without caring how i felt about any of it, i'd walk away at the drop of a hat. I don't want a "bad girl". I just want a girl and i want to love her for all her characteristics, good and bad. Not a goddamn stereotype. Ugh. It's insipid, vapid, hack authors like this who try to be political that really grind my gears.

you know, if everything they've said about gamers is true, we'd be violent murdurers and rapists, do they realize that millions of games are sold all the time, millions of gamers, and how many of these have actually done anything?

Last time I saw, it's the jocks that are bullying the nerds. So what? They're surprised some bite back? Well bu-hu. We see violence anywhere we turn, and half-naked women everytime we watch commercials...

ARRRHH! I feel like going outside randomly punching people and raping women!!! D:

Here's the new plan guys. One of us has to become a mildly known book reviewer. Gain some clout, then get on a news channel. Call her book out for increasing the crime rate and leading to rape.

There's no way it can fail!
I imagine Cliffy B would be happy to appear on a Daily Show section, face down in a hospital bed, claiming that her book made a woman pull down his pants and shoot him in the asshole.

Female gun based violence towards male gamers must end!

Awesome. I'm sure this way the world will think gamers, in general, are level-headed people. Right?
Sorry, I don't agree that we should, again, take it stoically to the nose self assured of our own superiority. That's why democrats lose so many elections. It's a sick sad world. Get dirty.

I hate to say it, but it sounds more like her book will cause females to get raped more often, instead of empowering them like her intention seems to be. Karma is a *****, and the gamer world calls her the same thing.

Karma's a *****. You go on National TV and talk about something you don't know anything about and people are gonna affect you however they can. It's funny, you look at Lawrence Cooper's book on Amazon and it's still trashed [http://www.amazon.com/Cult-Perfection-Making-Peace-Overachiever/dp/1599211793/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297361951&sr=8-1], what hope does this lady have?

Reminds me of when people bombed that one woman's book on amazon after she said "I haven't played Mass Effect, but I'm sure I know what its about" or something like that. She then went on to call it a "rape simulator" among other things. Then her book was bombed with people saying "I haven't read this book, but I'm sure its about how to molest children." Or something like that.
its kinda like seeing a fight between fox news and that lawer that hated Grand Theft Auto, two entitys, one topic- No information...and~ GO

Failing that lesson, we can just force her to carve it into the back of her hand...
