If you look at sanitation its better top keep them on i'd say.

Since you sweat away about half a liter during the night ask yourself the following: What would you prefer? That most of that sweat ends up in socks and PJ's, or that you "save up" most of that sweat in your mattress, giving bacteria and such time to cultivate?

OT: I only wear socks when I'm sick or when I'm too drunk to bother.
I love cold, hence my heater in my bedroom is always off, the window is always open and I sleep with my feet-end of the bed towards the window.

I have to ask what color? I have been ambushed by girls before, I ended up with nasty pea green toenails. Maybe it was them trying to give me a hint?

Sometimes glittery and quite light blue, and sometimes the shade of blue you find on the "reply" and "quote" buttons on this forum.

I also don't see how there can be a sanitation issue either, unless you keep on the old socks and not change them.
You must be a viking and not wear socks, Sissyfrass. :D

I always sleep without socks because it feels weird to wear socks in bed.

All the time. Why not? I shower in the morning, so this keeps my sheets clean for longer, anyways.

Doesn't seem unsanitary, since you change your socks. I don't like it though. Feels weird. If I'm really cold, I wear tights to bed, but I don't like wearing socks.

If my sheets are clean for any meaningful length of time, it's a bad sign of a dry spell.

I will admit that wearing socks in bed is odd to me, don't your feet get sweaty?

I don't care if someone does though, personal prefrance and all that.

When the weather gets chilly I usually end up in (clean) socks in bed. I am a really restless sleeper and toss and turn a lot in the night which tends to end up in a limb hanging out and getting cold (I have thrown pillows across the room in my sleep and can unfit a fitted sheet, it is that bad)

Being woken up by having icicle feet sucks as does trying to move and getting a cramp, I found socks help prevent this //shrug.

WHy would you put on new socks before going to sleep? That would just let them become sweaty before the day starts.

Every now and then. It's very nice to wake up and take them off. Like the start of Fallout 3 or Oblivion, for your feet.
