Stumbled into the Ringed City DLC by accident without even knowing. I thought one of the enemies looked familiar from a review I watched back when it released, and falling ever downward sounded like something that happened in it too. Glad I looked up what the Dreg Heap was...I’ll save the rest for absolute last though.

Now I’m in clean up mode, so I went to finally visit Untended Graves and loot the place dry. The old hand maiden must be a bit lonely there, but she seemed to have grown used to it. This place is reminiscent of the abandoned Hunter’s Workshop from Bloodborne, in that it’s filled with sadness and silence. Even Champion Gundyr didn’t really pose much of a challenge, and kinda felt like a pity fight.

Next up will be Archdragon Peak.

Alright, finished Witcher 3 DLCs. Finally got to finish a game I intended to play after watching the show. You know, in November. I got real side tracked.

Before I talk about the DLC, I need time to ruminate. But I need to say this, just to get it off my chest. Witcher 3 is a god damn awful mess when it comes to bugs. It was even worse than Metro Exodus for the rate of bugs. I cannot believe that game got stamped as ready to ship. It was way worse than I remembered. It was utterly frustrating. I need to think clearly about the game, and this isn't helping, so maybe saying it will clear my head.

When I say Fallout 4 as pretty bug free, I think it was in response to this, because I remember playing these games close to each other. Anyway, I thought I'd rate all the Open World games I got distracted with before playing Witcher 3, based solely on their level of bugginess.

1. Far Cry 5
2. Fallout 4 (With the caveat that dialogue animations are regularly terrible, but not game breaking like the next three)
3. OuterWorlds
4. Metro Exodus
5. Witcher 3

Because I needed to.

Finally finished Divinity Original Sin 2, after somewhere around 150 hours.

I feel like it has kind of set the bar for RPGs for me - at least in terms of gameplay. It is just how interactive your items and abilities are, with the rest of the world. The teleport ability and teleportation pyramids are absolute standouts, and their usability both in and out of combat is just commendable.

Honestly, it was so much fun, that I just want to run through it again.

In terms of the story, it was suitably fun. I enjoyed the characters and the world, even if I did find the last "level" to be comparatively weak compared to the rest of the game - and the epilogue slideshow thing was pretty poor.

But yeah, Divinity Original Sin 2 was probably one of the best games I have played in a while, and im super excited to play Larian's Baldur's Gate 3.
I loved it too. While I think it goes way too epic and loses it sense of reality, making it harder to attach yourself to the characters and story, it still dragged me through despite itselt.

Started playing Red Dead Redemption 2 again.

Man, This game has much an amazingly realized world and characters, I just wish playing it wasn't so fucking awful.

Atelier Escha and Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky [DX]

So after finally taking years to beat Atelier Ayesha I finally moved on to the second game in the Dusk trilogy, Escha and Logy. If you never played an Atelier game in your life or just hearing it now, the Atelier series is usually about a young girl going out in the world, using alchemy to make things that people request and what not and there's usually a time limit, making time management a key factor in these games. Escha and Logy is no exception to the rule but it does things differently. There's 2 protagonists instead of 1 this time and they have 2 separate campaigns; Escha representing the classic Atelier gameplay while Logy is more geared towards those who want a more straight forward JRPG, making his campaign easier to access for newcomers. I picked Escha's story because I wanted to go with basics first, but regardless the other protagonist will join the party.

Escha's story is interesting. It takes place in a village known as Colseit that's best known for its apples but is still struggling much like everywhere else in the world of Dusk. Escha is a bubbly girl who decides to join the R&D Department of her local government in order to use her alchemy to better the land. She then meets Logy who's from a far away place. Most of the story so far has been exploring the ruins in Twilight Land but there's more to it as with the previous game its clear something happened in the past that made the world the way it is. Anyways its a slice of life story, comparable to something from Studio Ghibli or KyoAni.

The gameplay is separated more or less into two parts, exploring and synthesizing. Exploring has you go out and gather materials for synthesis while adding combat to the game. The combat is typical JRPG turn based battles where everyone can attack and use special skills. And the synthesizing part is where you go to your atelier to craft new items from the stuff you gathered. This can go from weapons to simple flour for example. However you're usually given some kind of goal within a specific time limit and nearly every action you do takes up time so you need to be careful. I could go more indepth about it but I think I'm rambling now.

Overall I do like this game but not as much as the previous game. Ayesha was my first Atelier game yeah but I really liked how it had an adventure with a clear overarching goal for the entire game; Save your sister from being spirited away. Escha and Logy did change things up but Escha's story doesn't feel too different from the norm. I like both the new and returning characters, namely Wilbell, Reyfer, and Threia so there's that. I will say though I'm a bit shocked that this is the only game in the series that also go an anime adaptation. I'll probably watch it sometime but after I finish this game. Its just something interesting to note as it kind shows this is one of the more successful games. I just like these kinds of games and I do plan on beating it hopefully soon but knowing me it won't be in a while. lol

At the moment I'm playing though Xcom Chimera Squad and Doom Eternal nightmare run. On top of doing dailies in Smite and Paladins. I'll probably grab Gears Tactics and be playing that when it comes out too.

I don't like Xcom games, but i like the storyline idea of the game. Does Chimera Squard play like a normal Xcom game or is it a different genre?

It plays like a more different version of Xcom. Like, its got mostly the same type of squad size strategy gameplay of the other Xcom games, but the levels tend to be smaller and you have a dedicated squad that each have their own backstories and personalities, like now if an agent goes down, you have to stabalize them since if they actually die then you just lose, but you time to do that. I wish it did more with them, but they are decently fleshed out and the story is fine, not mind blowing but its certainly more of a story then most of that kinda game has. Plus, the breach mechanic, where all your guys bust into an area is pretty neat, you can take out some of the enemy force before they can fight back. Its also only $10 bucks on steam right now so its not a big cost if you go over the return time and end up not liking it.

There is another Xcom game that is a really different genera, actually there are like 3, but 2 of them are old and busted, the newer one is called 'The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.' Its a third person shooter with squad mechanics, personally I really didn't like it, but it might be worth looking at if you want an Xcom game but something really different.

Kind of caught a fresh dose the WH40K mania I used to have after watching Astartes, so FINALLY played WH40k Space Marine and...

Its ok. Sometimes I really get into it, and I'm having a whale of a time Gunfights are generally good, so is the melee combat. And others I'm struggling because the only way to progress is slowly advance so you can see one ork, snipe him, advance just enough for the next, etc because a massing of ranged units on the periphery will absolutely punish you if you you try to straight gunfight or melee mash them up.

Which is even worse when the only way you can heal is execution moves, or rage mode. Particularly when the execution moves take so long you can die before the healing comes in, or lose all the health you gained.

Also find it faintly ridiculous an Ultramarines Captain would choose to enter battle with just a bolt pistol and combat knife, but it does allow the standard videogame weapon powerup path.

SPOILERS

Would really have preferred the game not go SURPRISE! Its chaos now! Not everything has to be about chaos.

Also, while its nice they keep the chaos space marines as tough as they should be, it really makes the combat much less fun than when it was against the orks, as you are far more often forced into the tedious, slow, methodical snipe the one guy, advance so you can snipe the next guy, repeat gameplay.

I didn't mind when chaos showed up, but it did feel less fleshed out then fighting the Orks was, like even their animations seemed a little stiffer. Although, they didn't do the Orks with as much personality in Space Marine as they usually do, which was kind of a shame since they had this Ork in Dawn of War 2.


If you like rts games at all, you might want to check out the Dawn of War series to help get that 40K fix. They tend to be widely regarded as the gold standard for 40k games and are very good rts games also.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair (Switch). Finally got a chance to pop this in. It's basically Donkey Kong County except there is no co-op. Which could have benefited from it for some extra replay value. The game plays great, and I like the over world system where you have to unlock simple, but fun puzzles or challenges to access more of it to play chapters. I am not that far in the game, but I plan to play more later in the week. I do like how in stead of a lives system, there are checkpoints just like in Rayman Origins and Legends. So you really have to never worry about a game over. I usually don't mind the traditional lives system, but it can tiring after a while. Especially when you're just trying to get through a stage. I never played the first game, but I don't think I missed out on much. Another minor complaint are some of the load times. When starting from the main menu or a new game, it takes a good 25-35 seconds to load. After that though, the game loads pretty quickly when entering stages. Usually a good 2-4 seconds. Is this console wide problem, or just exclusive to the Switch version? If anyone knows, feel free to tell me.

I decided to continue playing Persona Q from where I last left it. It's a Persona 3/4 spin-off which fuses Estrian Odysey and Persona 3 gameplay. I'm glad I decided to continue, because I love how the game took a sharp turn into Silent Hill territory.

Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone

I heard this was some of the best Witcher content. I was disappointed

Vlodimir is all bravado and no bite. I dont enjoy such people. You are literally made to pick up a shoe as a quest. I don't care what your conext is or how good your writing is, this is ridiculous. Why, in god's name, as your last day on Earth would you go to some randos wedding. My partner asked what I was doing. I had to explain to her that I'm currently possessed, and my ex is pushing me to sleep with other women. That sounds stupid and it is.

The heist was fine and Iris memories was good. The Caretaker, the cat and dog were great. The Oferi plot was completely wasted

The ending was typical Witcher nonsense. You can support one bad guy or another. How can I support neither? Olgierd is a terrible person, even before meeting O'Dimm. I'm not letting him go to devil dimension. No one deserves that. He should also NOT walk free. He should be in jail

This game has a morality problem. It tries to give people nuance but doesnt apply it to ghr choices you make. Some minor infractions lead to hanging. You have to choose only one bad person to suffer punishment and not both

5/10 No thank you

If you think about it as an extension of the world and theme though, it makes more sense. It just wouldn’t feel right if Arthur was running and jumping around like anime character or something. I get the most out of it when I treat it like a Westworld-like western fantasy simulator, with the only goal in mind is virtually existing in that play space for a while at a time.

Been enjoying the 2005 original Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I've been on a racing game kick lately, switching back and forth between arcade and simulation racers. Just got through Forza Motorsport 7 which is good, but lacks personality. The curse of being a sim I suppose (Though NFS Shift and Shift 2 I feel tried)

Honestly, as an arcade racer, NFS Most Wanted holds up in my opinion in a lot of ways. The visual design is still nice, with that gritty urban setting being eternally stuck in fall weather, and the racing is a perfect balance of letting you feel like you're in full control, but always just barely.

Good luck. I've heard the Nameless King is one of the toughest battles in the series, including DLC bosses.

Speaking of which, I've heard the DLC bosses for DS3 are also pretty rough
