It's all part of our national delusion that the GST or the HST in some provinces (the name of our sales tax) is temporary and will eventually just go away.CrystalShadow said:Wait... Are you telling me Canada has a sales tax, but shops don't list it as part of the price of anything you buy?Samcanuck said:I have heard it is very similar to Canadian culture. I know a bit here and there, but I would like to know more.
Wow that's annoying.
Just about every country has sales tax, but it's usually accounted for in the shelf price. If you truly must know how much tax you paid, it's often listed on the receipt.
But, since you have to pay it regardless, not listing it would be akin to misleading advertising.
Fact: technically the word 'Aborigines' refers to any native population of people. The Native Americans, therefore, are aboriginals. The legal term used to refer to original inhabitants of Australia is 'Indigenous Australians'. However most Australians still refer to them as 'Aboriginals'.Mr. Eff said:- Natives are called "Aboriginees"
