Oh yeah, forgot to weigh in on the debate you were having. Besides the brightness part, was there anything else that made you go with the Samsung?
It has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports which I figured will be better in the long run (a bit of future proofing), slightly better latency, and I've always liked Samsung's smart TV interface. It also has better viewing angles which helps when I have people over.

Fair! You've probably got a much better TV in general as well with the Samsung. With my most recent TV purchase experience, I learned that there's usually a lot more trade-offs with cheaper brands (Hisense, TCL, etc) that you don't see on a spec sheet. Stuff like dead pixels, ghosting, dirty screen effect, that sort of thing. While I wasn't happy having to spend extra for my Sony, the quality of TV I got justifies it pretty quick

Bought some JBL Tune 230NC true wireless earbuds. After cheaping out on a pair of buds and them being crap I decided to put some actual money into a set, and they were nearly half off so I couldn't complain about that. Realized that I need Airpod rip-off earbuds if I'm going true wireless cause any other shape is too big for my ears, as discovered with 3 other sets.
Sounds pretty decent! Might have to tune them with the app, but otherwise I'm content with my choice. Very feature packed which is nice. Hopefully they'll last me awhile

I got Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for $6. That makes 18 PS4 games that I can't play. Darn it, starting to feel a lot of pressure to cave and buy a PS5. But I was going to either wait for a sale or the PS5 Pro, neither of which seem to be in the near future. I actually saw some in stock the other day too, for the first time pretty much ever.

Not seen gas masks on dogs before. Are they more or less useless while the mask is on? Dogs are usually used for their teeth or noses (or sometimes to pull sleds) after all.
I think they would make some great video game enemies, though. Got a real good look about them.

You saw real live PS5 consoles for sale? At a brick and mortar store?
I see the Xbox Series X for sale time to time. I got to play one on my nephew in law's 85" hi def TV. Hard to have an apples to apples comparison as I have a Xbox 1 X on a 75" 4K LED and that still looks fine to me. I hear the PS5 is special when game developers take full advantage of the haptic feedback on their new controllers but to date I have never even seen a real one. Heck, I've never seen one that isn't a scalp for $200 over retail or sold out on line yet. Ever. Given my current spending priorities, it would be very hard to resist if I saw one on sale for real but I'll try. Gotta upgrade my PC and maybe buy the Samsung Odyssey Arc if I'm lucky.

I dunno how their numbers can be so impressive when I never see a real one for sale!

By contrast, right now...

In most places the idea of just being able to go into a physical store and just grab one is still a far off dream.

I know for Australia Sony released a shitton of them on their online store for Black Friday... evident by the fact you could still order one at midday (most shipments sellout online in less than an hour). Maybe the price increase has soured the scalpers?

I wouldn't take another Xbox if they were giving them away for free. I bought a 360 after all.
My 360 did die after 6 years while in 2009 I got a fat PS3 that I use to this day. I could write very positive things about my Xbox One X and I'm glad I have one. This gen Xbox has a huge challenge now. My focus is on PC gaming. Game streaming is becoming more and more a thing (Until mid 2000s I was using Net Zero dialup. Today, I have wireless streaming 4K movies in my house: things keep improving). I watched a video about the Samsung Odyssey Arc, on my radar for Q1 of 2024, where the host advises you don't need a system, just stream onto it. I use a 360 controller on my desktop and can have an Xbox experience without one.

The PS5 offers one major thing in this new gen: when properly programmed for it, the controller with its haptic feedback offers a new experience. I'll have to see if one can have that same experience with a PS5 controller.

EDIT: Sounds like it can be done but will not be quite like playing on a PS5 and is not plug and play. 3rd Party apps typically required but sounds like some games will work out of the box. Interesting. Maybe just buy that controller for that experience. $70 for the controller rather than $500ish for the whole thing.

I bought one a long time ago for PC because I like how it feels more than the DS4.

Looks like you're supposed to also make a gift of it for Valentine's Day. To share, of course.
My missus is enjoying the whisky, I let her have a measure or two as it's nearly Christmas, but I feel that a whisky specialist website may be a bit biased when it comes to recommending presents.

Which was totally a thing. Not a huge success tho. Horses panic easily, like when they have to breathe through something weird on their schnoz

Also, gas mask doggos
I feed bad for those doggos. I can't imagine how tought it must have been to get those on a doggo.

I mean, yeah, it's better then being gassed but still.
