Ender's Game, anyone?
That's a rough comparison. The Casey and his bully are not in a shared restroom wrapped in towels, not a single one of them ends up naked and/or dead as a result of their fight and they are not in space learning to be raid canisters in human form.
Wrong fight. The first one, before he went to space.
Damn. Once again my attempts at wit and humour have been foiled!

All I have to say is you reap what you sow. That kid had it coming. Don't want to be piledriven? Don't bully. Negative reinforcement FTW.

You could still say that the bully is still alive, and not dead, and that Ender did not pile drive his bully. In any case...

I'm expecting young Casey to become the youngest person to save humanity.

What is wrong with the internet? Well I think that what is wrong is that many people on the internet can relate to this kids situation. I was bullied a lot as a child and man does it destroy your self worth. Don't forget this bullying went on for a long time, as it often does. Now I'm not saying that the level of violence was appropriate, but look, it hurts a lot to be treated that way for no other reason than being different. In those moments your not thinking rationally, you hate yourself and everyone who hurt you. It sucks. I'm torn here because I know where the kid is coming from, I fought back once - smacked the girl who was hitting me back as hard as I could. I got saturday detention for it. But suddenly I didn't feel so worthless. At the same time, one wrong move on that kids part and he could have dropped that kid on his head and caused serious damage. So yeah what is wrong is actually bullying. Many have suffered from it and many of us feel like cheering when we see someone stand up for it.

Most have you have probaly heard / read the story of Casey the kid who got bullied and pile drove the bully into a sidewalk.......
What's the question got to do with the internet?
Most people I've spoken to who've seen this have seen some little turd pick on a kid who fights back (with his 'mates' filming it for giggles I might add)

Not sure of the point of the original post tbh, are you trying to prove a point, if so what?

I was physically and emotionally bullied for close to three years of my life because I was overweight. I had a specific bully who would continually punch, kick, and otherwise physically injure me. One day, he shoved me down on the bus ramp and almost broke my nose. It wasn't bleeding, and it didn't even hurt all that bad. You know what I did? I jumped up amidst the laughter and put my FUCKING FIST into is smug face. He got kicked out, and I got no punishment.

I condone this kid. He did what I almost couldn't do. The funny part? I recently saw this guy in a cast. Turns out after I got done with him, some kid that was half his age shoved him down the stairs for bullying him. When he saw me, he came over and apologized. He said he had no idea that this was what I had felt like. We're close friends now!

My point is: An eye for an eye may leave the whole world blind, but its a damn sight harder for two blind men to fight.

I was in Casey's exact situation when I was in school.

..And I got fed the damned "violence is not the answer" crap as well. For 12 years straight, while the bullying persisted. I went to a teacher, and not a damned thing was done any one of those times. And now I suffer from an extremely pent up anger, because I didn't do a thing to my tormentors. Now, I fear I may go off on someone innocent someday for saying or doing the wrong thing, after what my tormentors did in persistence towards me.

So bloody damned right Casey was in the right! While I am not usually a violent person, there is a time when you just have to show the tormentor you aren't going to put up with the tormenting again, and show him the force to make him stop. And Casey did just that, with even a very balanced case of self-defense against the kid - only enough force to smack the realization into the kid.

So.. yeah. I can kind of relate to this case in a somewhat intimate fashion. Not to try to presume too much, but everyone shouting the "violence is not the answer. ever" platitude has likely never been in this situation personally, and has little personal idea of the real emotions inside after years and years of physical and emotional torment. If this is relevant towards any of you, I'd suggest to just shut up and stop looking like an insensitive moron.

Please.

Edit: Also, greatly exaggerated OP is exaggerated.

And to everyone being a damned hippy and saying "VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER! FIND ANOTHER WAY!":

1) I had already talked to this kid several times in an attempt to get him to stop.
2) I had spoken to the principal and teachers multiple times, and the only thing he got was a firm talking-to.
3) My mother. No, seriously. I have more respect (and fear) for my mother than for anything or anyone else in this world. She told me that she would stand behind me if I stood up for myself and punched this kid's lights out.

Point: Sometimes, no matter how much we think otherwise, violence IS the answer.

I broke the nose of one of my bullies after 4 years of it.
Wish I'd fucking done it sooner.

That's why he's congratulated, the payback was caught on video.

This reminds me of the time in seventh grade where I decked a kid because he wouldn't leave me the hell alone.

To elaborate, my seventh grade year was my child equivalent of Vietnam, I was harassed almost daily, verbally put down, almost weekly beatings; and in one case getting the beating of a lifetime in the bathroom after taking a piss. And these were all from different kids in my grade or older. In my opinion, Casey was well within his rights to give the kid the beat down he got. When it happened to me, I had recently gotten a new haircut, similar to a 50's greasers hair, and he started making fun of me, which soon escalated to spiteful words, which lead him to give me a fist to the gut, which was promptly replied with a right hook to the temple, knocking him out and cutting his eyebrow. The only difference between that incident with Casey and mine was that I was charged with First Degree Battery, which was lowered to Disturbing the Peace. Now, I've built up a mental brick wall giving me an almost Super-Human ability to resist all the homosexual jokes and other spiteful sentences...

Casey did exactly what other child would have done in the situation, him doing it in an epic fashion and having it put on the internet changes nothing about it... Good day sir.

When a dumbass pokes a bear long enough...

zwoodco10 is right. The idea that violence is not the answer is rooted in the same idiotic disconnect from nature and reality that causes people to not care about pollution and such. The world is violent. It's sure peachy and fun when it's not, but sometimes it is. Instead of teaching kids that violence is not the answer ever, for anything, which essentially makes them useless when an issue like this comes up, why not make efforts to teach kids exactly when and where violence is needed. Maybe that'll lead to less people misusing it, or make it less likely to find a crowd of ****nuts standing in awe of something horrible happening right in front of them instead of actually helping.

While Casey had every right to flip out, piledriving the bully was not the way to go, as others have pointed out, if it went just a little differently the bully may have had unrepairable damage done to him. Violence isnt the answer people
LOL. How many ppl actually used that phrase "violence isnt the answer", yet noneone came up with another answer that is more effective than that...

Really the amount of ppl who use phrases just because they show them or were taught to them by their parents or tv is ridiculous...

In another note about teh whole violence thing, No u dont change the world by being good yourself and magically expect ppl everywhere to be good as well..
Well yeah you do have me there, its actually incredibly hard to find an answer that will work better than violence. Still, advocating violence isnt the right thing to do. Sure you dont change the world by being good, but you can make things better for you and the people around yourself, im not saying to be just take abuse, im saying that you dont need to respond with violence. By the way, i actually didnt get this from my parents and T.V, I did used to be quite a violent person, always throwing my weight around ans intimidating people, I came to the conclusion that violence is wrong by myself, it doesnt lead to anything good.

Personally I do find it admirable when people do find alternate solutions to beating eachother up, it shows more restraint and will power

All he needs now is a ragtag group of his fellow children before people in bars will start whispering "evildoers beware," while trading information over a fine scotch.

Mess with the bull, you get the horns. I was taught never to act without considering the consequences first, and never start a fight if you aren't prepared to face any possible outcome.

Also, as someone who's dated a teacher, the school system is awful when it comes to punishment. The most a school can do is give a stern talking to, which doesn't do jack shit. The bully doesn't care if he gets in trouble, but he cares if he gets his ass kicked. I'd bet the little shit that started the fight won't be doing it again any time soon.

I also love how people say. "Well he didn't need to slam him." It was the heat of the moment, Casey didn't plan this out. He didn't wake up that day and say, "I'm gonna grab that little fucker and throw him to the ground." He was pushed to his limit and he reacted, he didn't continue to kick the kid while he was down, he walked away.

It boils down to this...

When someone does something stupid, I mean REALLY boneheaded, and he doesn't receive immediate punishment...that person will go on to do terrible things in the belief that everything is fine and NOTHING could possibly go wrong. When he DOES get punished, he has to rethink his life. And if he doesn't get to live...well...sorry, but rhinos probably kill small animals every day. They only do it because they bug the hell out of them.

People are behind the Casey kid not just for the chutzpah, not just because it was cool. Okay, some probably are, but some are also calling it justified as well. Apparently, when you're the target of enough ridicule and you can't stand it anymore, you'll want to do things. Makes sense. There's someone we all want to strangle, I'm sure. In this case, a wimpy 10-pound kid decides to put on the tough act.

He did this to a guy who was bigger, stronger, and currently pissed off at people pulling this sort of shit. And the Casey kid didn't do anything at first, either. Then, hitting actually occurred. Talking garbage and baiting and punching. Finally, the dumb kid gets shown exactly what he's messing with, someone who can end him in one move. Enough was very much enough. I wish all that stupid were taught a lesson so clear.

They were both children (well, Casey's age is unimportant now that he's a deity), no matter how much bigger Casey, the scrum squisher, was, he was too unhealthy to have killed the child. Not to mention this bully had been picking on Casey, the offspring of Kratos, for ages. Casey, cousin of Bruce Lee, could might have committed suicide. Then we would have had a bully still bullying and god in a grave.

Also, it was self defense. The bully socked Casey, who's bones are made of materials still unknown to even Zeus, twice in the face. The bully also attacked Casey, superman's mentor, with a posse. Casey, the world's only midget titan, was heavily outnumbered. Anyways, the bully just walked away (like the rat he is) with a dislocated knee. Boo Fuckin' hoo.

The bully wasnt right at all and should be punished but what about Casey? What is next time he goes into a rage fit he pile drives or pushes a kid and accidently kills them like he almost did already?
First of all, that's not a piledriver.
Secondly, if we're taking things to absurd levels, what if the bully pushes a kid and kills them?
Third, if the bully got up immediately afterwards, he wasn't that hurt.

I've taken a worse blow than that, didn't get hospitalised and suffered no ill effects. Calling it a piledriver exaggerates the situation far more than necessary.

BTW: Look at the video again. If Casey had used one of the least aggressive martial arts moves, "Push Hands", against the child, he would still have flown backwards and landed on concrete.

Then they shouldn't be bullying him in the first place.

Also natural selection.
Agreed. It's mainly that the kid stood up for himself. Besides, who said he nearly killed that other kid?

What kinda school did you go to? Must hav ebeen a really nice neighborhood.

I remember... Must have been in I wanna say seventh grade. One of my better friends was taking shit like this and the second he threw a punch in defense (after wht was years of bullying to the point where he would walk home iwth bruises or sometimes a limp or pain in his arms/legs) he got a suspension, brought up in front of the adminstration board, had a a fine levied on him and had to pay for replacement (the kid who bullied my friend had his tooth knocked out after my friend gave him just one punch {a really good one] and fell down and hit the tile). He had to pay 400 for the crown, another 250 for the fine, and was out for over two months because "James (the bully) didnt feel safe about Mike (my friend) returning to school for fear he would be hurt".
