3 String + 3 Sticks = bow = infinite dead creepers.

The only real thing that sucks about creepers is the pre-bow, pre-flint and steel phase of the game. You have no reasonable way of killing them... and they don't go away in the morning. It isn't that long of a phase, but it still sucks when it sucks.
My bow and arrow doesn't stop them from ambushing me when I don't expect them. If you see them it's hard to die anyways.

Lapis Lazuli ore already drops 4-8 dye items [http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Lapis_Lazuli_%28Ore%29]. Still it's quite rare.

What I've always wanted is some kind of Redstone beacon. You could use your compass on it to tune it so that it always points towards the beacon instead of your spawn.
This! I hate dieing, ending up back at spawn, and being unable to find out in what direction my current project is in. Maybe there could be a beacon like this and make it so you don't lose your compass when you die. Or make the ability to make a spawn block that you will spawn on when you die, and your compass will point to it instead of your default spawn.

You know what I want? A bloody trap door! My current method of harvesting creeps, which admittedly is rather satisfying in a "It puts the lotion on its skin" sort of way, but it takes up a lot of space on the map. A trapdoor would help me with that problem.

And something else I would love to see, no more bloody mobs atop my mountain fortress! They can't even get up there by jumping, which means they must spawn there. So, how about an algorithm change that prohibits mobs from spawning in fenced areas, cuz those sheep creep me out.

I'd also love to have a world map, even if it is one that can only be crated and will only fill in the areas you've already explored. All it has to show is the spawn point, the player's location and some areas you can enter manually (ie your fortress atop Mt. Doom).
Use MineCraft Cartograph, it won't show spawn our where you are but you can just put torches in a pattern to mark where you are.

The mods do some of the things mentioned and I think most of them are planed as part of later versions. I like the idea of a way to tell if a mineral is nearby like a beep if ones within 5 blocks or something. Also a map with points of interests markers, I died in a dungeon once and spent 5 game days trying to find it(their is a mod for this one).

A easy-to-understand tutorial on redstone and its properties could be nice. I tried to create some mechanisms, but it didn't go well.

I think the spawning mechanism needs to be tuned. Every single time I leave my castle and come back, it's filled with cows, chickens and pigs. Havent had the time to remove grass yet.

Three crafting recipes I would like:
<img src=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cd/Drawbridge.gif>
A drawbridge. It would be really useful and cool.

Also, a gate that matches the fence parts. Doors and fences look so stupid together....

And a elevator of some sort could be nice... Those water elevators always give me a feeling of cheating, and when you have a mine that goes deep deep down taking the stairs is a bit mindnumbing.
You can repeatedly jump and place blocks underneath you to get back up out of a deep mine.

Might try this, but there really should be an in-game option.

I want a city of dwarves where I can hire workers to dig an X*Y*Z area for me and put all the loot into a chest.

Alternatively a village of halflings that I can enslave in order for them to perform the same task for me for free.

I am currently recreating Castle Poenari, Vlad's old hunt in Wallachia in a scale model, 33 by 180 ft. I now have to dig out a few mountains to make my mountain large enough, then dig out the sides and make a shitload of steps...

Goddamn you, Minecraft. Goddamn you so hard.

Also, i'd agree with everything but the tutorial. I've found that people who watch the tutorials on Youtube feel constricted to what they can do, and it takes them a while to understand that there's more than one way to play.

Blue used to be pretty hard to make back in the day AFAIK, it involved Egyptians pissing and stomping on your clothes. Even worse with purple which was a sign of wealth and nobility because of that.

Meh, I routinely kill creepers with a sword, it's not hard.

I have a question. My friend wants me to buy this, and I plan on it, when I can, so we can make a server together. Can someone explain how making a multiplayer server works?

Sorry, but I finally got a reason to use that picture =D

Yes, of course you can do that, but wouldn't using an elevator be a lot more conventional and sophisticated way? It is very tiresome to dig all the way down again, and it isn't very stylish.

A sluice gate
This, a thousand times this! I know not everyone is into the weird contraptions that can be built, but this would make using and incorporating water flow into the contraptions so much easier!

I also want to add, I SWEAR that Notch said before (possibly on an interview printed here somewhere) that he planned on having a tutorial built into the final game.

Also also, I don't like calling him Notch, but I don't really feel right calling him Markus either as he seems to really push his nickname, and "Mr. Persson" makes him sound like some kind of extraterrestrial attempting to choose a nicely inconspicuous name.

I agree with yahtzee, but here are some more ideas:

string/rope to attach minecarts so they work ok when powered minecart is used (and storing fuel in it) or minecarts able to move like boats
tnt to be worth making i.e. not just 1 block from crafting
obsidian to be slightly easier to mine
metamorphic rock e.g. slate/schist as a rock found near ores, not just stone getting darker
being able to change your spawn
more arrows made when crafted
a kart made by combining specially crafted parts, but can transport you quicker.
an option to turn off nighttime
and there should be an in game mine edit, not needing to download a mod.

having said all that minecraft is still fantastic in beta.

I always thought there should be some kind of physics system added, so you could build some cool mechanical structures, like catapults or draw bridges.

The way I see this working is by adding a few craftable items, I have a small list of what I think would work.
----------
Hinges, use place a hing anywhere and atach another block and that block becomes attached with the ability to swivel up and down (or sideways depending on how you place the hinge)

Long rod, used kind of like the fence you place one block for each segment of the rod you want so you can change size (this has the benefit of being thinner then normal blocks making it possible to create more compact structures)

Rope, can be used to attach objects to other objects you have the ability to hold the end of the rope and pull see the long rod for how to place rope if an object is placed on the end of the rope when the rope moves so does the object)

Pully(sp?), A wheel type object that you can place the rope on the block on the other side of the swivels as the wheel is turned can turn automatically when receiving power from redstone

Basket, holds anything you put in it loosely the object in the basket gets a type of physic system
----------

Or some kind of variation of that(I can see some flaws with my system but I'm certain that if notch wanted to he could easily flush them out), I can see people making amazing things if this kind of system was added, plus it would make the game more interesting for people interested in making machinery(we can already see that these kind of people exist in minecraft, but they use elaborate systems of things like mine carts water and redstone circuits)

With this kind of system it would also be easy to build the shower type thing yahtzee wants, but not simple enough to where you just need to place one block down and a way to power it)

I also see some people interested in elevators, again this system enables that and more, with out making it an automated build process(I think part of the fun of minecraft is figuring out how to do something with the tools you are given).

To everyone who cant find their way to projects, clouds always go north. if u look at which direction the clouds move from spawn point before u leave it, you can use the clouds to find your way back.

I want some kind of mini-map. I don't care how broken it is so long as I can mark home and not get lost so easy its fine.

Agreed, too much help would be bad.

However, if the radar was very short range, perhaps two blocks, it would help without neutering the game. Perhaps if the rock near diamonds had other sparkles in them, and the rocks near lava had a red glow.

Zan minimap mod- Minimap/ plus you can set markers
Cartograph- Plots the areas in which blocks with selected values are, DIAMOND TREASURE MAP!

Actually a lot of this stuff will be added to Minecraft eventually

If I remember correctly, Notch said he was currently already working on a sort of tutorial option to help people out the first couple of days, and although there aren't any gates for water to interact with I have to add to everyone here that trapdoors theoretically already exist, however it requires a block of TNT to be placed a block into a hole and a sand block over that, topped with a pressure plate; the plate causes the TNT to drop down into the pit and the gravity effects of sand make the victim fall with it, ending with a delightfully cynical explosion somewhere during the drop which I personally think is much better than a simple trap door (although I still want to banish people to a Creeper Pit, but I must say this proves how many neat unintentional contraptions people can create along with catapults and minecart boosters)

As someone previously said, 4-8 lapis shards now drop from lapis lazuli blocks but not in SMP, but regardless of this it's still too difficult for making simple blue wool blocks. On a related note, Zombies drop feathers because at that point there were no chickens and he couldn't think of anything at the time

I also agree with some sort of metal detector, however it might be added as some sort of spell or something if the rumor Notch plans to use gold to enhance magical abilities is true

Personally, I'm hoping they add fossils and more weaponry, maybe a ball and chain that you swing over your head, hurting anything within a one block radius (even behind you) I've also seen a lot of good mods adding items like winged sandals that get rid of fall damage, elemental arrows and even mob-controlling rods as well as creatures like werewolves, ogres and lions, I really hope Notch makes those official in some way

I wonder what shape the tutorial will take. One option some fans suggested on the Get Satisfaction board was a "tutorial world" option where the normal spawn area was altered to include a flat plain containing a series of blocks with messages written on them. #1 says "punch this block until it breaks", #2 has a graphic of how to make something, #x is only breakable with an iron pick or better, etc. so each mechanic or recipe has a block or sign dedicated to it. Maybe a simple cave system directly below that's open to the surface for initial cave exploring. Then, once the player is comfortable with things they can journey into the rest of the map, which is just normal Minecraft.

As to what I want? I don't know. I'd like to see some my favorite mods like controllerblock (or even its older cousin, bridgeblock) and FancyPack folded in. Or at least the ideas therein implemented in Minecraft. But it's still fun in plain vanilla mode.
