One thing that helps is knowing history. When the justice system previously consisted of "He could be innocent, but let's cut off his head to be sure", a major battle could be fought in a war two weeks after the war ended due to slow travel of communication, workers in EVERY country rather than just China basically slaved away towards their death while training their kids to carry on the work at age 13, and the sheer number of ruthless dictators who solved every problem with violence, you tend to get a bit more respect for the current state of affairs here. The world will never be perfectly peaceful and quiet; just think about how cool it is in comparison.

I believe that the Burka business is not exactly wrong, as I do believe it is required by law that everyone is recognizable by face whilst out on the streets.
Boo. By that logic, I shouldn't be allowed inside a bank while wearing a ski mask.

That's actually a good thing for everyone else, as long as they don't spend more money than they actually have.

That was a great comic! Where did you find it?
I have no idea...no Idea.

...on TV trope?
Please don't mention that site. I was caught in a pretty bad TVTrope Loop 2 days ago. Lasted 5 hours. Nowhere close to my record but still waaaay too long.

This is why I'm a surivalist.

It gives you something productive to do with your spare time, and lets you look forward to an epic "I-told-you-so" when shit inevitably hits the fan.

What part of this is even slightly new or more depressing than anything else that's happened? Countless people in Africa /die/ every day because of HIV/AIDS. The middle east is in a constant state of war between two religious factions vying for the same plot of land. Each claims that it is theirs by right.

The whole world ending thing? Just a bunch of conspiracy nuts going all stupid over an ancient calendar. An ancient calendar... Honestly... What makes anyone think a people that lived so long ago would know anything about the world ending in the here and now? x_x

Ha ha ha, I hope your joking because people are exactly like that!____________________________________________________________________________________________
Anyways main problem for me is the debt! Fix it some how! Tax rich people(and tax them more if they find loop holes), lower spending, tax middle class more (but tax rich too along with this or i will be mad)

-Warning, very depressing thread -

I can usually deal with this stuff, but today i have finally snapped. This is getting ridiculous!!! Has the world gone mad? Have we lost all shreds of common sense! What on Earth can we do to fix all of this! Is no one else banging their heads against the wall!!!

- France is thinking of banning the Burka in some places, even for people who WANT to wear them
- Certain European countries have banned the little towers on mosques, something akin to banning a cross on the tops of churches if I am not mistaken
- Australia is banning things left right and center, setting their standards like in 198-fucking-4
- In China, the ability to make cheap little plastic toys are more important than workers rights
- Religious nuts in the US are getting ridiculous amounts of attention and air time
- People are scientifically arguing that the world will end in 2012
- China doesn't give two shits what the world thinks of them anymore
- Canada is going frigging insane with its Olympic regulations
- The economy is in the crapper, yet thousands and thousands of people are spending way beyond their means
- The media is filled with more private interests than ever before
- And the cherry on top, this generation is going to live shorter lives than the last one, a trend not seen since the f*cking DARK AGES!!!
I...i just... this is all so..... AAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGGGG!!!!! *thump*

What can we do? What do you do? How do you cope? What is some light news?
it's okay, it's okay, let it all out... say "Grusfaba" out loud in front of your computer. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Finished? Indeed the world sucks, it's what you plan on doing about these things.

The way I cope:

This world is always in crappy condition of somekind. Except, for the past few decades now, there's the chance that if things get crappy enough, we'll nuke ourselves.

I can't help everyone, I just try to help the people I can. I might not make much of a difference to the world, but I might make a world of difference to a few people.

well, in Canada at least we only have that minor issue of Olympics.
prety nice.
Well that and the government decided to stay on vacation till May...

Edit: Oh and about the minaret thing (Mosque towers) the reason Switzerland banned them was mostly because they didn't want the historic architecture of their small towns ruined. There are strict building codes that force everyone to build new houses and buildings in the same style as the previous ones, so obviously Islamic minarets will kinda stand out and ruin the look of the village. Not sure if the laws also apply to larger less unified looking cities.
