What part of this is even slightly new or more depressing than anything else that's happened? Countless people in Africa /die/ every day because of HIV/AIDS. The middle east is in a constant state of war between two religious factions vying for the same plot of land. Each claims that it is theirs by right.

Edit: Oh and about the minaret thing (Mosque towers) the reason Switzerland banned them was mostly because they didn't want the historic architecture of their small towns ruined. There are strict building codes that force everyone to build new houses and buildings in the same style as the previous ones, so obviously Islamic minarets will kinda stand out and ruin the look of the village. Not sure if the laws also apply to larger less unified looking cities.
Nothing you really can do unless you aren't afraid of a little jail time, then by all means follow the golden plan.

This can be explained by the media sensation of viewer rating. People like to get angry at things and think they are involved in something that is larger than themselves. This also explains the rise in viewer made content or feed back. This requires very little work as you can go up to anyone and get their opinion on any subject regardless of qualifications or understanding. And the religious groups are a great way to start controversy, hatred or any other high rating subject. Put an extremist of any religious group on the news and people will respond to this, and then you are able to comment on the peoples outrage to the extremist and then continue the cycle. You have high ratings and very little work to keep the news story going, just keep getting ill-informed members of the public to dispense their bile and hey presto great rating and you can sit back and watch the money role in.Soushi said:

Why should the middle class be taxes more in return for higher taxes for the rich? Besides, Obama isn't raising the taxes on the upper class any higher than what they were before the pointless and ineffective tax cut that Bush gave them in hopes of encouraging spending.Wiezzen said:

It would have been more effective to cut the taxes of the lower taxes for the middle and lower classes while keeping the upper bracket at the same percentage. His planned basically relied on trickle-down economics, which is pure bullshit in itself. The reason why the rich get taxed more is because they make more money and taxes aren't as devastating to them as they are to those in the lower brackets. As of today, any income above $171K get taxes a third of their income, and even with other costs, they still have more money kept in the end than most people in the middle class make all year before taxation. They maybe out more than a third of their income, but they still have more than $90K to keep at the end, which is something that more than 95% of Americans can only dream of. They can afford more taxes, and everyone else cannot. There's a reason why higher income brackets get taxed more.
All you want is for the rich to be taxed more and still living comfortably and have the lower classes taxed more which will make their financial lives even more hellish than it already is now. We are always going to have a debt and trying to reduce it with such a haphazard method will only bite us in the ass since it will inevitably lead to less spending (or to spending with money we don't have and cannot repay).
Just try to find something that takes your mind off of it all, or it just might completely overwhelm you. Or like others said, just let it go in one ear and out the other, I mean why get so worked up over it if it isn't affecting you personally.
