Ones who insist their way of playing is the only RIGHT way.

For example: On the Forums I used to go to talk about Oblivion, there was a conversation going on regarding the compass. The suggestion was made that the next game (this was before Skyrim was announced) give the option to turn the compass off. His response was something like this:

"I don't want it to be optional. I want it gone! If you can't navigate without it you shouldn't be playing. Having it gone would separate the men from the boys and show who really knows how to play!"

Remember, these are single player only games....

Similarly, there was a comment posted (several actually) on the Minecraft forums asking that certain Mobs (specifically creepers) be toggle-able in the World Creation menu. Response was similar to above.

I don't get it. Why are options bad? How do these people justify condemning people who want certain functions to be optional. If you don't like it, don't use it. Why does everyone have to play the way you want to play.

Most times I can see where people are coming from in their arguments even when I don't agree, but this is one mind set I just don't get at all.

The kind that asks too many questions.

On a serious note, I hate anyone who buys a "guide book". Buy the game, and enjoy it. Go out and explore. Buying a book to get something without having to look for it is cheap and pointless. Don't even buy the game then. Just buy the guide.

Oh, and elitists. I hate them too.

Barking Orders Gamer

You plan to have a nice relaxing game and BAM through the mic all the time. Giving orders acting like they are the best at the game. Most of the time their score isn't even good. Then they ***** it's because no one is doing what they say.

I really hate it when it's a non serious game mode/map/server.
This, completely hate it. Was watching my brother play TF2 the mann vs machine update and this one guy kept saying how the team sucked and my brother and other people needed to change class to be an efficient team. Even just people "ordering" other players in general, get your friends together in a team if you what proper strategic gameplay

So with you on this. Some gamers are so set in the elite mentality I'm surprised they aren't in a Cobra MkIII

I don't think this is mutually exclusive to gamers but essentially, Tools. There's probably a better terminology for calling someone who's a closed-minded excessive spender but tool is sweet and simple and my bud always get butthurt for that.

Essentially this buddy buys literally all the new characters bundles in League of Legends all for the sake of "trying them out" (once or twice). Lack of IP isn't a problem either since he plays tons and never buy runes, but nope he wants to throw the money. Finally he bought Pulsefire Ezreal despite not MAINING OR PLAYING HIM AT ALL (all of my hate).

Then there Skyrim he didn't want to play on PC so he bought it for his 360 (some BS reason about controller=game) on release. Fair enough. Now after a short while he bought it again {full price} on Steam. All of us were like why brah and he said " dem mods" (THEN GET IT FOR PC IN THE FREAKIN FIRST PLACE ALSO I KNEW THIS SHIT WAS GONNA HAPPEN SINCE YOU LOVES MODS). This is more nit-picking on my part but he could of waited for a sale or something, I mean he already paid his "dues" to the developer and steam is notorious for all the sales (I'm a frugal bastard).

As his friend I keep trying to reason with him about making the most soundly purchases. Taking the Skyrim example he could of bought the game once on the PC plug a USB controller in and got all of his requirements done while getting the mods. Alas he retorts with stuff like "its his money to spend" and "he doesn't care about the inner-workings of etc." to counter my statements.

This finally falls in line on why I call him a excessive instead of the more widely accepted wasteful, hes not completely dumb. He allocates his money to his basic needs adequately enough it just his spending funds are squandered on stuff he could of invested better per say. Yes i know its his money and his will to do whatever with it, but when someone you care about is doing things oddly/wrong wouldn't you like to at try to rectify/address this problem?

Sorry bout the rant it was nice to bluntly say all this.

But if Tools dont count then FPS COD *noscope* HS frat-boys in general and fanboys.

Hmm. Fair enough. Those types tend to bother me as well. Though, for me, PC-elitist and aggressively atheist are interchangeable with console-elitist and aggressively religious, respectively.

I think what it boils down to is, the overly confrontational and insulting among forum users are what bother people like you and I most.

what is the definition of hardcore gamers anyway? do you have to play a certain type of game the most, or do you have to play x amount of hours a week?

I can't stand those people who care only about their kill/death spread. If we're trying to capture a flag/set a bomb, don't just squat down in a corner and wait. It's especially annoying when they won't take the three seconds to turn the corner and defend our base. "Well we lost pretty badly but, hey, at least you had a high K/D. I mean, that's what really matters, right?"

The hyper competitive are the ones that get on my nerves the most. It's one of the biggest reasons that I just despise MLG and wish it would go die. The actual competitors themselves that get the sponsorships and play the game at the competitions are almost always nice people, but the fanbase its spawn try their best to ruin games in the name of "skill" or "balance" or whatever they see as worthy of their style of play.

Halo AR, Gears Retro lancer and Double barrel, Old TF2 Backburner or FAN...

Always looking to take more away from the game that others enjoy to create a game that only they will enjoy because it's the "true" way to play.

Le Forumite.

Those guys that will go out of their way to FUCKIN DISCUSS SOMETHING. Anything!
Most commonly, of course, the 'controversion' topics.
And there are ALWAYS at least two of them.
Topics:
Abortion
Moon hoax
Obama sucks
Obama rocks
Nazis/Stalin

And I wouldn't mind a civil discussion in slow paced game, say Siege in Warband... but the thing is, the guys almost NEVER know what the fuck are they talking about. E.G.:

Player1 - Stalin was such a good guy, I don't know why he is so hated
Player2 - Lol your so right I mean he defeated Hitler and shit
Me - You know that he knowingly issued an order that led to starvation of 20 000 000 Ukrainians? Because he could? Also, let's make it clear that Ukraine is one of the fucking best countries in the world in regard to food yield? So he basically stole food from them and made them die to make a point?
Player1 - lol wtf r u talkin about bro, you high as kite or sth
Player2 - wtf is ukraine
Player1 - lol you are retarded as fuck ziame, go lrn sum history or sth
Player2 - wtf is ukraine
Ziame has logged off
Player2 - wtf is ukraine
Player1 - I kno rite

so yeah.

People who have "xX...Xx", "420" and/or "69" in their gamertag/name/whatever. A misdemeanor would be using numbers as letters.

Also squeakers. It's like having a banshee on a roller coaster stuck in your ear.

It's all about the extremities that people hate I guess.

The achievement hunters. I'm not going to say I don't occasionally go after achievements but damn these people are disruptive in say.. a standard TF2 match on a mainstream server. Every loss of a team member affects the game and potential enjoyment there of.

(I was going to say point whores but at least they play hard and decimate the enemy line which makes me happy in an indirect way)

A different type. Entitled Gamer. Normally combined with the barking orders. The ones that take all the loot and then 3 levels later say "You're the sniper right? Want this sniper rifle I'm about to sell?"

That rifle would have been good for me or the other who they were talking about. 3 levels ago now it's too weak.
I haven't bumped into a little general in a while but I agree, damn those people are annoying.

The entitled gamer sounds an awful lot like the hoarder crowd. Not the ones who go after rare items but the ones who ninja all and any loot not bolted down and wont give it over during multiplayer. There's a special place in hell for those people.

whiny gamers are my biggest pet peeve. Every time they lose or something horrible happens they whine for the rest of the match about it or tell you that you suck and just got lucky. Losing is part of the game and if you can't handle it then GTFO.

I really dislike people who see people that are rude towards those that give them advice. I've been in several team based games where I've tried to give helpful advice to a player, only for them to retort with a rude comment. I mean sure, you don't need to follow my advice, but you don't need to be an asshole when I'm only trying to be helpful.

I also dislike people who are completely absorbed in their nostalgia. Many game series fall victim to this, but I'd say in the pokemon playing community it's very common. I could be talking about some aspect of the latter games in the series, and it doesn't matter whether I'm talking about it in a negative or positive light, but they'll feel the need to remind me of the 'good old days' of pokemon and about how much better the original generation is then all of the rest. The newer generations have their problems, but so do all of the older generations as well. If you would take off your rose tinted nostalgia goggles and actually compared the newer and older games, there might be some things you'd come to appreciate. I respect the classics and all, but you can only get so much enjoyment from focusing on gaming's past.

For me I would have to say that there are a few types that annoy me more than any other.

-Elitists. Particularly ones associated with gaming platforms. Sure, you have annoying fanboys of many varieties but the ones arguing that their preferred platform is the greatest just really take the cake.

-People who only play the single player/multiplayer and judge the game completely on that aspect alone.

-People who boycott a company and vow never to buy their games again based on a single game they've been disappointed in.

I could just cover all my bases and say "all of them", but that would be cheating ;).

PC gamers who say that there is literally nothing redeeming about consoles. These I hate with a passion because they're just assholes. I've never judged anyone by their platform of choice and I can't say that I see the appeal.

People who only ever talk about one game. Last year, some of my friends started playing League of Legends. And I am not lying when I say that the only thing they talked about was League of Legends. Literally, just League of Legends. I got really sick of it. Later that year, a completely different group of friends all got into The Binding of Issac and for a month or two that's all I heard about. The really annoying thing is that I can't really get worked up about it because it's just because they really love the game and are excited about it. I don't really like being a curmudgeon but when all your friends love something and you don't, you start to feel a little alienated.

Wow. If liking a certain games because of their graphics is enough of a sin to demote someone from humanity, I can't imagine what anything of actual nefariousness would grant in your book
