The MP40 from Return to Castle Wolfenstein, because of the 'Where Eagles Dare' feel it gives the action.

I think I'll have to go with Doom 3.
Yes, the whole game, as almost every gun there was damn satisfying! From the BFG to the humble flashlight, all of them are fun to use, especially the rocket launcher, with it's four rocket clip!
...even the pistol? Even the assault rifle?

I 'unno, Doom 3 always felt really spongy in it's weapon feeback to me, but then again it's been a while since I played it.

The Firestorm Cannon from Turok 2. It's basically a plasma minigun, and it's awesome.

The MEC Gauss Minigun from Fallout: Tactics. Holy cow, the first time you fire this you just can't help but laugh maniacally.

Uff... Railgun? Quake 3.
There are more more boom boomish things by now but that priceless bling sound can't be beaten.

Also Call of Juazez Gunslinger did a -damned- great job with -every- weapon.

As much as I think Katanas are horribly over-rated, they are very stylish.
Did you try out the katana in the Shadow Warrior remake? Its one of the best I've ever come across. Heck it was actually my choice for this thread, they just made it so fast and brutal you can't help but laugh like a maniac as you decapitate everything around you.

And I just can't leave this thread without mentioning the glorious, glorious! Flak Cannon from Unreal Tournament. There's nothing more satisfying than running straight up to an enemy, aiming that thing right in his face and pulling the trigger, just to watch pieces of his upper body fly upwards while the lower body catapults itself in the distance from the shot.

I miss Unreal Tournament :(

the sword in dishonored is the latest (and only one) I can remember, because... well, because. it was the first time hand-to-hand combat really felt as it should imo

It's a bit niche but it's the Masterwork Great Hammer I'm using in the mod Prophesy of Pendor for Mount & Blade: Warband.

You ride up to someone, swing, *CRUNCH*, "Speed Bonus 200%", "You delivered 200 damage" (most high level NPCs have around 80HP), "Empire Legionnaire was knocked unconscious by Roon Mian".

SOOOO GUD!

Hmmm. I got few different ones.

Most satisfying ranged weapon: Double barreled shotgun from Killing floor. It is the ultimate killing tool, no one survives.

Most satisfying melee weapon: Murakumo from Dark souls. This sword must have some strange magic in it, since I have managed to killed every single invader with Murakumo without any trouble. It is just so powerful.

Most satisfying spell: Berserk from Fable. What can I say about this? You become The Hulk. Trouble wielding heavy two-handed weapons? BAM! I swing it like its a toothpick.

Most satisfying relic weapon: The Soul Cube from Doom 3. It always sent chills down my spine when it said the "Use us", after killing enough enemies. It was always satisfying to use, point an enemy and it gets pulverized.

Most satisfying unit: Hiigaran Battlecruiser from Homeworld 2. I'm a sucker for big spaceships with massive arsenal and big ass ion cannons.

Shotguns, eh? I reckon I can improve on that. Allow me to introduce...

...the Flak Cannon from the Unreal Tournament series. Primary fire is a spread shot of flak projectiles that mash enemies at close range. Alternate fire is a grenade-like projectile that explodes on contact for AoE damage that will knock enemies around the room and project shrapnel outward in a deadly blossom.

Plasma Cannon in Space Marine. Nothing better than killing 7 peeps in one blast from the other side of the map.

Hmm Asura's four arms shooting down airships and punching planet sized gods is pretty satisfying. Also the giant scythe from dark souls is fantastic plus it causes bleeding! For shooters, besides everything in half life 2, the mini gun during the jail breakout in cod black ops was super satisfying. Too bad it only lasted for like 2 mins.

Gauss rifle from Fallout 3, that thing could knock over Deathclaws, supermutants and power armor dudes like pins at the bowling alley. Especially Deathclaws, when every other small arm barely makes them flinch, it's so satisfying to bowl a charging Deathclaw over with a Gauss rifle.

Oh damn, thats a tough one.

I'd have to say either the Daisy cutter/carpet bombing in World in Conflict.

Or the launcher/siege kit combo from RF Online.

Without a doubt, the Sniper Rifle that can be shot through walls in COD: Black Ops 2. That thing is marvelous beyond words. You can charge up the shot to go through thicker walls and get to see enemies through the scope. I forget its name, but it's one of my favorite game weapons.

Pick a weapon from Painkiller, any weapon. Especially the stake gun and the shotgun from that game, there is something just incredibly satisfying about impaling a guy and sending him flying until he ends up pinned against a wall, as well as with freezing and shattering a target with the shotgun (alt fire freezes).

Other than that I'd say that Ratchet and Clank has some really awesome guns, I remember I really loved the plasma coil in 2-3, the miniturret glove in 3, the black hole launcher in 3, and the liquid nitrogen gun in 3.

I'd also like to mention Lungfishopolis from psychonauts here, not a weapon per say but trampling about a city of tiny deformed lungfish people, while newscasters lambaste you in the background is incredibly cathartic like playing as psychic godzilla or king kong.

Probably the rock-it launcher from fallout 3. Combine that with the bloody mess perk, you can make someone's entire body explode by shooting a teddy bear at them. Fucking amazing.
