What was the worst game that you pre-ordered?

Batman: Arkham Origins. Hands down. It was 80% fluff and filler missions with bugs out the wazoo and they stopped updating it like, three patches in, WITH HALF OF THE BUGS STILL IN PLACE.

X:Rebirth comes to mind as it was buggy as hell, ran like crap and hardly any of the features that were said to be in it were barely fleshed out. Hell it took them 2 months to get trade working properly. That and the "everything comes from something" was obviously not there. Nothing you did mattered. I really hope with 3.0 coming out the game will finally be half of what it was promised.
Definitely X Rebirth for me too. First special edition I bought for any game because omg it's Egosoft I have to support them it's gonna be great! The lack of pre release coverage should have worried me but well...it was an Egosoft game I knew it would be buggy on launch. The problem is...it isn't only bugs, the game is fundamentally flawed and I fear that no amount of patching will make it a good game.
Make that one more. It wasn't even that it was bad, so much as it was disappointing! I played it for about 45 mins, completely nonplussed. Haven't booted it up again. Went straight back to their older titles like a comfort blanket!

Alone in the Dark, definitely Alone in the Dark!!! I was sucker into preordering it because I was amazed by the graphic when watching those developer video when they were showing off the 360 version and not the Wii version (I owned).
The end product (especially the Wii version) was so horrendous that they haven't made a sequel despite they set one up and heh it suppose to be a reboot too right?

C&c red alert 3.
It could never, ever live up to RA 2.
It was such a shame too.
My dad got drunk and left me at the story for an hour or two.
I think the whole thing closed down while I was waiting for him o pick me up.
All in All it was not a good day.

Final Fantasy XIII was horrible but Dragon Age 2 was the one that made me stop pre-ordering games. I would much rather play DA2 but it was just such a horrible disappointment compared to the first one...I just couldn't take that kind of disappointment anymore [sub][sub](and I can't really afford games on day one anymore anyway)[/sub][/sub]

Another vote for Dragon Age 2. I enjoyed it at first the combat was quicker, the skills much visceral. It seemed good. And then I went through the same slightly altered map for the 5th time and things began to fall apart. Soon after the wave-based encounters took full effect and the story began to slip away. It was pretty disappointing.

It's kind of a tie between the Collector's Edition of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Game of Thrones for the PS3 because I bought them alongside their respected strategy guide... The formal I just wasn't enjoying to the point that even my cousins were wondering why the fuck I bought the game in the first place and the latter, despite having an interesting story overall, was too terrible gameplay wise to continue on further... ORC just barely makes it worse than GoT, for me, since I bought that with my first official paycheck at the job I had at the time...

Oh thats easy

Assassins creed 3-
I don't know maybe you need to be American to find the history contained within fascinating. But I just couldn't get behind throwing tea off a boat, signing the deceleration of independence in what seemed to be a crap school hall, giving some fat bastard a lift on a horse whilst he gives me awful directions and walking around a massive boring empty world.
I thought I'd like Connor as I am a big fan of Native American's, I like their culture and dress sense. But Connor was about as interesting as the history in the game, and by that I mean an empty cardboard box painted beige.

Borderlands 2-
Its a multiplayer focused game with a story it wants you to be interested in. You cannot follow a story and get immersed in dialogue whilst a gang of utter cretins bunny hop through a level, sprint to objectives and whack you when you catch up, steal all the good loot, talk through cutscenes and worst of all constantly talk.
I don't care what any of you have to say for yourselves you wastes of skin and space, I am trying to care about this game world and the characters. It would have benefited by giving you the option to include AI companions to soak up some of the fire, but since they want you to pay for online thats not gonna happen. The game was disappointing basically because the people who play video games online are disappointing.

Apart from them I've actually been rather happy with all my pre-orders. I only tend to pre-order sequels or games by a certain dev I have confidence in, that way I have a pretty good idea of what I'm getting and whether I'll like it or not.

Watch_Dogs was a gamble I won't do again. The thing is that it's also the only game I've bought at full price in years. There was a tax loophole online shops used (it was closed in 2013) to sell new games for 36? each, and so pre-ordering wasn't a bad deal at all if the game was decent enough.

GTA4 if I pre-ordered it...

I honestly don't remember if I did or if I simply picked it up on the first day. Subpar driving game, subpar action game, tedious time consuming grind just to get from mission to mission. It was briefly fun to play in the sandbox but that enjoyment was lost within minutes. I bought this game off the hype. A seemingly endless stream of perfect scores and cries for automatic GOTY. Gamers who got early copies of the game also boasted how incredible everything was. All I learned is that the GTA franchise isn't for me. I'll stick with inFamous or to a lesser degree Arkham games.

Runner Up would be RE6 except that I ordered a special version that came with RE1-RE5. Most of those games I didn't own save for 4&5. This made the purchase well worth it despite RE6 itself being unplayably bad.

Honorable Mention: Dragon Age Inquisition.
I haven't given this game enough of a chance. I haven't been able to bring myself to play it for a while. I'm not done with the game for good though. It has the elements of a great game but it's just failed to hook me at all. I want to finish the story but I don't want to play the actual game. Next time I'm stoked to play through an RPG I'll try this one out again.

Either Mushroom Men The Spore Wars or No More Heroes 2, both Wii games.

Mushroom Men had a lot going for it, but lacked any challenge whatsoever and had a pretty shitty camera and waggle combat.

No More Heroes 2, while I thought the first game was the shit, the sequel was just shit. Bad camera, omission of camera controls, bad level design, boss fights that are the opposite of fun. Forcing the the player to spam side jobs ... which felt like bad mobile games. Suda didn't actually direct the game this time, and it's pretty obvious.

Batman Arkham Origins,

I enjoyed it enough to justify the money down, but man that game was a mess at launch, and to a lesser extent still is to this day, which pisses me off even more, also FUCK THE MULTIPLAYER SERVERS, seriously getting disconnected constantly just ruins it for me, and even if you do get in, chances are all of your opponents or your team got disconnected

Yeesh, that's why I don't preorder games anymore, and so far its been working out great for me

Assassin's Creed 3. Collectors Edition. On PC. I had an AMD card. That game was, and still is a fucking dreadful PC port for those with an AMD GPU (Its alright guys, Ubisoft are "aware of the issue", and they have been since the game came out in 2012). I got it for Christmas, and I didn't even complete it (or even get past the Haytham part) for about 6 months because of the dreadful FPS issues. It was only after I got a better NVidia GPU that I was able to experience the... wonders of AC3. The game was pretty average at best, and was a disappointing entry to the franchise after that Ezio trilogy. Sure, the graphics were better, and the combat looked a lot more polished, but Connor was about as interesting as the tea leaves that he threw into the sea, and the story wasn't that interesting either. It was definitely the least interesting AC game in terms of story.

Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley.

The only reason why I pre-ordered was because shortly before it came out, my laptop had to go to the shop, and even with the laptop, I had way too much free time that was eating away at me. I loved the hell out of Friends of Mineral Town, so why not? Also, pre-ordering meant getting a free plush dog.

I grew to regret buying it pretty fast. The first year of the game you're stuck with winter (meaning that your crops aren't going to grow very fast or very well), you can never leave your farm (visitors talk of a nearby town though), you can't upgrade your tools, you can't upgrade your stamina/health, you can't plant seeds on multiple squares or water multiple squares, the harvest sprites don't help a whole lot, getting the final season gem requires a ridiculously high number of things to do (whereas the other two it was only a small number of relatively simple tasks), the list goes on and on.

The fact that it's worse than a game that came out over ten years ago in every way is just baffling.

But hey, at least the plush is adorable.

Watch_Dogs was a big let down. Didn't really pre-order it, but bought it day one. I was bored of it in about four hours. I think I got about a total of eight hours out of the game before I turned it in.

It's also possible I may have pre-ordered Unity, I won't be making that mistake again.

Shadow the Hedgehog for the Playstation 2. Well when the game finally came I decided to 100% it...and regretted everything.

I can't imagine anyone putting themselves thought that kind of torture just for the sake of doing it.

OT: I would have to say Halo 4. Not because it's the worst game I've ever played(far from it), but because it is the weakest of the Halo games in general, in my opinion.
