I don't have a problem with a black Bond, but I do have a problem with an American one. Also, Will Smith doesn't exactly have a proven track record with British accents. Frankly, if the producers wanted to go in that direction, I'd go with Chiwetel Ejiofor. He's British, black, and has a better acting track record than any Bond since Connery.

I'd hope that they wouldn't get rid of Daniel Craig so quickly.

Loved that guy ever since I saw Layer Cake. Not to mention that he really is just a damn fine actor, and proved that there shouldn't be some kind of pedigree for who can be Bond. A shorter, blonde gentlemen can do it just as well, if not BETTER than those before him...

Casino Royale just blew me away with how amazing it was. Became my favorite Bond film

Maybe Gerard Butler as Bond? Just a thought. He's got the accent, and I don't think he's all that bad.

Sam Worthington?

Errrrrrrrrrrrrr... No. For a start it needs to be a Brit, and it can't be Will Smith; it is the same person, sure the actor's change but having a black american in the role would be ridiculous.*
Peirce Brosnan was Irish, though I agree an American is a step too far in the wrong direction.
And Will Smith? He is a good actor but no.. just no.

The more I think about it the more will smith sounds appealing. He can do action well, and he's a solid actor.

I'd probably be shot by some on here if I said what I was thinking, but you pretty much summed it up in the last half of that sentence.

He's no Bond though - like at all.

Well since MGM is a british studio, I would imagine it would be someone from the island. The whole country threw a fit when Daniel Graig was chosen because he wasnt from the "right" part of the island for their taste. Maybe we could get Yahtzee in to do it. The goatee and stylish hat certainly attract the ladies.
Oh god that would be amzaing, maybe he could investigate an evil games company and make a feature lenth zero punctuation to ensure nobody buys the game

Daniel Craig proved he can do Bond very well in Casino Royale, but QoS, as has been said, was terrible. So as long as they make a good script and keep it more Bond and less gritty, I'd love to see Daniel Craig do another Bond. Personally I can't see any of Bale, Worthington or Will Smith being Bond. They aren't bad, but they just aren't Bond.
Whoever did the comparison that if Daniel Craig was announced for a Fresh Prince film there'd be one big uproar is a genius.
And why are some people saying actors need to be able to do a British Accent to do Bond? Bond has an English accent, and there's no such thing as a British accent anyway...

But production on his third Bond movie, code-named Bond 23, has been halted "indefinitely" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100107-James-Bond-Finally-Meets-Defeat] while the mess at MGM gets sorted out and while there's no question that another Bond film will be made, and little doubt at this point that Craig will star, the possibility that he may be replaced if the delay grows too long is suddenly being kicked around.
Why shouldn't they continue with Craig?! Sean Connery was called back 12 years after "Diamonds are forever" in 1971 ( he was 41 yo) to do "Never say never again" in 1983 (at the age of 53) and the movie was as successful as the others.

Oh dear... I love Daniel Craig. He's a refreshing change from Brosnan, who was good in Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough but not in the others. Die Another Day was terrible... Just terrible.

I guess I could see Worthington or Bale doing it, but they seem kind of generic. But Will Smith? That's just catering to those people [http://www.thenewblackmagazine.com/view.aspx?index=551] that say it's racist for Bond to always be white... Smith is fine in movies like Bad Boys II, that are action-comedies. But James Bond..? Imagine the uproar if a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air movie was made with Daniel Craig playing him.
People think its racist for a character, who has always been white, to remain white? Thats the silliest thing I've ever heard.

Will Smith? Will Smith?

Why the hell would they cast Will Smith as Bond?

I can't really see any of those three actors pulling off Bond. Bale should stick to movies involving Batman or Yuma, Will Smith can do his own thing, and I really don't care what the new guy does.

Will Smith? Really?

I've got an idea. How about we remake Blade with Hugh Jackman in the lead role?

OT: How about Stephen Colbert? Haha.

If will smith ever becomes james bond what little faith I have in humanity will be gone.

That would be like casting 50 cent as the queen instead of Helen Miram or Gabe Newell as a hobbit in lord of the rings. It just wont work

If any of them become the next James Bond ill cry a little inside. Daniel Craig should stay on for a little longer since I think he makes Jame Bond more human than the others. Although Connery didnt need to do that to make me like him.
