Ok... the biggest thing showing that this lady is just trying to put blame on a "controversial" issue is that she shook the baby, HAD A CIGARETTE, THEN SHOOK IT AGAIN!?! Now I don't smoke but cigarettes are always portrayed as something that has a calming effect, and even if that weren't so it takes a good few minutes to smoke a cigarette giving plenty of time to calm down from any aggravation caused by even the most frustrating of game. Another bad thing about this, though not worse than the murder of an infant, is that this could not have come at a worse time with the decision by the Supreme Court coming up, with this amount of bad publicity so fresh in people?s minds people will be more willing to accept anything to "dampen" video games. It is people like this lady that give video games a bad reputation in the first place. I hope this lady rots for a good long time in jail for the murder of an innocent child, and on a more personal belief, her crimes against the reputation of video games.

Lock her up and throw the key away.

I mean, games don't have that power to aggravate people if the person doesn't already have a mental disposition for it. She killed an infant. She's guilty, not the game.
I dunno, this is Farmville we're talking about...

Well, I don't think I need to comment on the wrongness of infanticide, but...I wonder...

Is it even POSSIBLE to get homicidally angry playing, of all things, FARMVILLE? I'm genuinely curious here...I've never played anything on BookFace; what about a farm sim can be that frustrating?

Over 200 reply's....

I hope at least one person called out the OP for being a liar.

She didn't blame the game, she said she was playing it when she got annoyed to the point of being a stupid fucking dumbass!

It's people like the one who made this title that are the ones responsible for the bad rep gaming gets.

Honestly, I'm surprised the poor child made it to 3 months in the care of this woman. Some people should not be allowed to have kids. =(

Also - 'may have hit his head' while she was shaking him? What was she shaking him against??

Mind you, I live in a country with a bad track record for this kind of thing, perhaps I'm jaded - we've had people throwing kids against walls cos they were angry at the rugby, we've had people putting babies in tumble dryers because they were annoyed with the crying... =(

As far as I can tell, FarmVille actually has very little to do with this. You could insert anyone's favourite pastime into that situation, you know, something that they didn't want to be distracted from, and if they were the sort of deficient individual that this woman is, they'd do the same terrible thing to a crying baby.

It's hard to tell from this if she's even really using FarmVille as an excuse, or just outlining the circumstances, but you just know those 'ban games' types will add it to their little list.

People are simple, not stupid. People, for the most part, see violence in video games, and assume that fake violence leads to real violence. That's not stupid. It's wrong, and it's simple, but it's not stupid. The idea that a farming sim makes people violent? That's stupid. For the most part, people are not going to buy this story, and rightfully so. A few people are going to bring up the the idea of addiction, but that, I think, is a different beast. Most of the zynga hate generated by this will be entirely from those people who already know that Zynga is a rather Douchey company, and are sick of Recent Activities feeds talking about lost cows.

There is no video game in the world that could cause a person to shake a baby to death. This incident was caused young parenthood and underlying mental instability, not virtual crops.

what kind of cigarette did she take? What's her IQ (i'm guessing 20). just looking at her picture makes me thinks something's wrong with her. just look at her left eye... She looks like one of those poeple who'd put dangerous stuff in the microwave just because it's not in the manual or something. some people...

People will literally blame anything before they blame themselves.

But take one look at her picture. Like, seriously. if I had been the doctor who delivered that poor baby into the world, i would have been like so... your gonna put this up for adoption right? Because im not letting you leave the hospital with this baby so you can sell it for meth.

What the fuck?

"I got angry doing something else and while I was still angry I killed my baby, so it's obviously not my fault".

I'm not usually an angry person, but I want her shot. Or preferably shaken to death.
Agree completely, the fact that she may in fact, get off with a lesser sentance is appalling to the extreme

You just can't have that face and not be as stupid as a wall.
I might have offended walls though.

Postpartum depression might be a defense. Farmville isn't. There is no "You shook your baby" ribbon. I checked. (Not to be overly flip about a horrific crime- I'm as appalled as anyone.)
Postpartum counts after 3 months?
It can.

Postpartum depression is moderate to severe depression in a woman after she has given birth. It may occur soon after delivery or up to a year later. Most of the time, it occurs within the first 4 weeks after delivery.

Farmville is not a game.
It's a way of clicking things.

But really, this is horrifying, that this woman would kill her own child just because it was interrupting her.

Someone may have beat you to that. Here eye isn't acting normal in that picture, and the way her she has a her face half held tense and half relaxed...

Something isn't right with that women. Who knows maybe it's just a really bad picture.
