Yeah, that's a good excuse.

I'm off to butcher some orphans now. Puzzle Pirates made me do it.

Like, honestly? That's no fucking reason to shake a baby.... *Sigh*.
Unless it's a game where you shake them around a little so they giggle, because I do that with my nephew and it is the cutest thing you can see. *Avoids the horror and disgust the actual topic fills him with*

This was a calculated act, clearly. She shook her baby (obviously hard enough to kill it, or for it's head to be damaged by a collision) , stopped, then came back and started shaking the baby again.

Pure evil.

I certainly hope that Tobias' time in prison is a long and horrific experience that comes to a brutal end in the back corner of the laundry room.

Seriously, asshole?
A mother. Lost her child. By her own hand.
That's a terrible tragedy and you're talking about "evil" and it "justifying itself"?
It's not a comic book, you idiot! It's real! Things aren't that black and white in life.
And what the fuck are you doing, using you position as a news contributor on a games site, to say things like that first quote?
Who do you think you are?

And of course a heard of morons that doesn't know anything other than games will follow through with the forum discussion. Next time someone asks me why there aren't that much games covering mature topics, I'll just give them that link.

But the real beauty of the piece is the very next sentence, after the two above:

Given Zynga's history and the dodgy reputation it's already saddled with, however, this kind of publicity is just about the last thing it needs.
Surely that's what's important to note here. How such a thing may affect a game company's reputation.

You make me sick.

The equestrian event is that way. Horses 16 hands or taller queue to the left.

Life may not be black and white but you better believe purposely shaking a baby to silence it is evil. Either that or she's extremely mentally handicapped. Though I doubt it since she's got enough of a mind to try and excuse her behaviour by saying "the game made me do it" (a stupid excuse by all means but a common one amongst mentally sound, though stupid, people).

And god forbid someone wish ill towards someone who has displayed such a shocking instance of ignorance and disregard for the life of not just any child, but her own. If the stupid ***** had just killed her child, that'd easily be enough to feel complete and utter disgust for her. Then she goes and tries to use videogames as an excuse rather than admitting her own negligence and gave up any right to sympathy or forgiveness.

Yes, a young mother, due to whatever reason, murdered her own baby.
My point is that no matter what's the exact nature of this reason, it's a tragic one, and to reduce that to a simple "she's evil" is... well, I can't find a word for that.
That woman needs care and compassion, and her lawyer is probably just trying to save her already ruined life from being spent in jail.
She has to live with the thought that she killed her own baby, for God's sake! How stupid can you be to ask for a greater punishment?
And to mix your everyday "facebook players are idiots" with such matters is, well, I'm going to say inhuman.

In my case, I didn't say she was evil or that she doesn't need compassion or care. I said what she DID was pure evil, because it was. Obviously she's quite seriously mentally ill, to do such a horrendous thing in a calculated way, but that makes you broken, not evil.

If Farmville was to blame, then there'd be a lot more shaken babies.
Unfortunately, very few non-gamers share your way of thinking, so this is going to be yet another opportunity for anti-game crusaders to cry out for game banning.

On topic, I hope this woman gets what she deserves. I don't even like kids and I think this is utterly inexcusable.

[small]Zynga's tactics must not be that effective considering the amount of people who clearly don't like Zynga's games on this site. I for one played it, then got totally bored.[/small]

Put her in a prison where all the WORST kinds of people are kept, and tell them 'This lady here is in jail because she killed her baby child.".
And see what the criminals do.
Apparently they give rapists and paedos a real hard time, so maybe they'll do an extra special 'deal' and give this ***** one too.

Then I started reading and my smile slowly faded... :(
This is pretty much me, its ridiculous, games are going to be blamed for world-wide cancer next or has that already happened?

There's a whole lot of murderers, rapists and paedophiles rotting away in prison. Shall we all send them e-mails of support for the terriple plight that they find themselves in?

You said it yourself, she killed her own baby.
She killed her own baby.
Most of us consider that worse than killing someone else's baby, its so incredibly twisted.
The reaction might have been different if she'd claimed insanity, it wouldn't be the first time inbalanced chemicals/hormones and extreme levels of stress caused a mother to do something she regrets. But no... Its the videogame.

I'm sure there are plenty of murderers out there that feel guilty for what they've done. They don't get a free pass or any sympathy because of it.

Bit harsh Andy, but still this is inexcusable; there is no way that she is going free by blaming farmville. If she does, then...well fuck man.
