I would say my personal pick would be Perfect Dark Zero. The original was one of my favorite games of the era and I was really looking forward to the sequel, and while not an awful game, killed my love of the franchise.

Edit: 2nd place belongs to Farcry 2. The first was really good, Farcry 2 was getting great reviews from what I saw, and I have tried to pick up and play the game again 3 or 4 times now and just hated it.

Thanks, I get it now. Personally I loved the chozo lore idea that Prime used. The lack of information makes what little you find more important.
Yeah, I found it pretty interesting and it was kinda original too. Much better than stuffing text in my face.

I'm surprised we got this far without a single mention of TV Tropes.

Personally? I don't know. Other M is almost too easy. If we include middle school students' retarded attempts to pass off their freeware crap as a pirated/leaked official sequel, then Archon III: Exiter nails it. If not... Hmmm... Eye of the Beholder III. I'll no doubt think of a better victimcandidate later.

I hate to badmouth mass effect but their pages upon pages of information about eezo matter less then the few sentences the chozo left. Prime's messages were more memorable.

no no victim is the correct term for the games in this thread because all it does is create victims after you play them.

Fable 3.

I found II better than I, heathen that I am (though I guess the villain had a good voice actor in I)- III is just boring as hell. Worst thing is they made it so you could only convey whatsit to one NPC at a time, and you couldn't really choose what you wanted to do.
Of course, if you didn't care for that aspect anyway it makes no difference...

OH, and the weapon system was worse. It didn't make anyone origional, it made them look up what their weapons would change into then they chose that path.

Uh, well, at least they got a bunch of familiar vociactors, and the villain sounded evil in a stereotypical way.

I would mention the FF sequels, but I haven't played any of them in the main series...

I personally love the primary data entries in Mass Effect (the secondary entries without VO less so, but I still read the interesting ones), they weren't necessary or required but by taking the time to listen to them I was drawn even further into the Mass Effect universe.

The little droid fella (can't remember his designation) was integral to the sub plot... You know, the whole mystery of Revans whereabouts?

Canderous/Mandalore was again a good plot driven character. Revan had made him leader of the Mandalorians to help strengthen the republic against the impending sith empire invasion.

Fair enough these are your opinions, but if find them slightly absurd reasons for disliking a game so intensely. Also, remember that lots of games use returning characters from previous games that are not the main character.

Had you said.... 'It was launched unfinished' I would have agreed with you because funnily enough there were massive plotholes and entire sections on the game disc which were innaccesible. Like the HK droid factory or the fate of....erm... YOUR ENTIRE FUCKING TEAM?

EDIT: However, I do agree that the first mission was VEEERY boring

OT: DMC 2 and the Dante section of 4... Most likely the reboot as well.

Hmmm.... Red Alert 3 was a mockery of the C&C franchise along side C&C4 Tiberium Twilight

KotOR 2 is pretty bad.

Warhammer 40K Dawn of Ware II, though not bad in its own right, is no where near as good as Dawn of War or Company of Heroes.

Stuntman: Ignition
Not horrid but the original was wonderful, it was difficult, but not ridiculous, the physics were tight, as were the controls, and it felt realistic.
The sequel felt like a cartoon version of the first, the physics felt very loose and unrealistic. In the original the movies you worked on felt like honorary send offs to to great movies. the sequel made them feel like spoofs of movies.
I dunno maybe I'm isolated on this one, but it just wasn't as good to me, and I don't see a new one, as good as the original coming out.

Pretty much most Sonic games after the Adventure series.
Actually I enjoyed Sonic Riders. It was pretty fun gameplay and nice board designs. I ignored the story ENTIRELY though.

Which brings me to my worst sequel: Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. I rented it thinking that since I liked the original that it would be just as/more fun than the original. I know Sonic games are usually awful, but that was down right horrid. I stopped playing the day I rented it, despite my usual "get my money's worth" thing.

I was recently told by another student in my dorm that pokemon games arent "true sequels" because they are never the same zone and im having a tough time to argue that point while yes they arent in the same area but you couldnt establish some of the evolution without prior exsistance of the earlier games.
Even though there are recurring characters who talk about the events of the previous games in them? What qualifies a game to being called a sequel to this other student, I wonder.
