Panic and permaban myself on accident.

That, or suspend absolutely everyone for only a couple of days to confuse them and amuse myself. And then get permabanned.

Either way would be a hilarious abuse of power.

I certainly have never seen one post. Are they supposed to, like, stick out? Be visible? I can't tell, because I don't think I've ever seen one.
Some mods are quieter than others when it comes to forum posting but come on! I've made 23 posts in only the last 2 days, and have an active thread going at the moment.

I damn well can't name one.
Now I am sad panda.
I would ban you timelord only so I can take that sweet name for myself so so sweet of a name please dont hurt me with the ban hammer for this statment

I don't think that's quite how it works, mods dont absorb the powers of the people they ban....or do they? Maybe that's where they go, they eventually absorb so many users that they evolve to a higher state of consciousness or union with the forum software.

Eviscerate almost everyone in the R&P section.
But, but, you do know that entire subforum is a subtle troll trap right? They look at the forum list and see R+P and head straight there rather than venturing into the other subforums. Some slip the net but the majority are fooled.

Come on, guys, nobody's falling for that anymore. Besides, I knew it was a joke the first time I saw it simply because I'm too sexy to be hated.
Pah, it's not like this community is static, there'll always be new members to fiendishly trick!

Don't worry Sky, I still love you.

And that's all that really matters.

Actually the sample is corrupted data, you get one of two responses. One is an actual answer to the question/what the user thinks will be funny while the second is a response by users who see it as an oppotunity to insult the current mods veiled as an on topic answer and get away with it.

Eh, malcontents tbh, they'd moan either way. If they didn't like it as much as they say they don't they'd leave. It's just "cool" to rage against authority and in this instance unfortunately you're the authority. Keep calm and keep up the good work.

I don't see it as "Unfortunately". I was really happy when I was asked to be a Mod. Thank you though, it's great to see that not everyone is angry at us. :D

I would ruthlessly enforce the "Low content post" rule and accumulate-ban all the regulars for petty infractions using the strikes system. -_-
And on the other hand ignore people who abuse the system and bait users.

-_- as well.
Not just me who feels that way then. The rest of my post clarifies.

I wouldn't say that I feel any hatred towards any of the moderators (especially not you), I just feel that moderating is too inconsistent on this site.

Although to be honest I think that is largely down to the ridiculously small amount of moderators considering the size of the community, more than anything else. I've seen places with a fraction of the community size than this, with well over triple the amount of moderators.

Unless you girls and guys are getting paid for it, then I don't see why there aren't a lot more.

So does it ever bother you (you meaning mods in general here) when people disagree with your actions or try to dispute warnings and whatnot?

I mean, I've gotten a warning or two in my time that I've felt was undeserved but I can't really hold a grudge against the mods over it because I imagine moderation being a massive pain in the ass.

It depends on how they disagree with us.

If you genuinely think you didn't deserve it, by all means PM a Mod, or the Community manager Nasrin. If you're polite enough about it, we will nearly always give it a second look.

It bothers me when people insult us over it, and think we're corrupt or purposely not punishing certain posts.

Each Mod does the Queue differently, some will give warnings for posts that others wouldn't. It doesn't make either Mod wrong.

If you see a post that hasn't been punished when you think it should, and you already reported it but nothing happened, then you can PM a Mod then as well. Or ask in the Moderation Team User Group.

I probably sound all official and trained with that, but honestly it's just from experience. xD I'm a normal person like everyone here.

Yeah that makes sense. I'll admit that I'm guilty myself of thinking of the mods as "mods" rather than "escapist users" however I've never thought of you as a "mod". Probably because I see you post in the forums more often.

I know this from first hand experience of being a moderator and an admin unfortunately (not on here). I wasn't afraid to "wield the banhammer", I just started to get slightly tired of acting like a disgruntled parent with a bunch of hyperactive and occasionally idiotic children.

Although admittedly that was in part due to an absentee owner who'd leave us to it for weeks at a time then come back and complain if things weren't done exactly how they would have preferred, but I digress.

Although in regards to your last point, you have (by your join date) only been here since the rules were changed. When I started here they were considerably less vague, with less room for interpretation.

While it may mean more variation between the individual mods, it'd also mean more mods to be around. I do not know how the moderating works here in technical terms, but if they have their own form of real time chat (like an IRC channel) then they can easily discuss posts and the appropriate reaction, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I might warn/ban someone if their only intention is to piss people off, for minor offenses I'd pretty much be too lazy to act.

I agree that some of the rules a kind of vague but what really gets me are the posts where I have to really question what kind of overly sensitive person is reporting the post in the first place. It's like holy crap, someone disagreed with me but I'm too passive aggressive and/or possibly in the wrong on this topic so I'm going to mash on the report button in the hope that a mod infracts this mean 'ol doody head. The sad thing is that this seems to work.
