Young Online Gamers

It's honestly odd how people hate them. I used to frequently play CS, and Red Alert 2 with teams when I was younger, by about a decade, yet because I never used a mic it seemed that noone cared, and rather enjoyed it when I fought on the team. So really what is it that suddenley causes people to cause disrespect to younger online gamers? Is it the sound of their voice?

What is your personal opinion though?

I personnaly have no hatred of them... unless I stumble onto kids like this...

Might be NSFW but is it long. 2 minutes gives you an example enough.

When I was about 12 years old. I started playing online for the first time.

I had an annoying voice, so I wouldn't speak into the mic at all.

So I feel like kids today are disrespectful twats.

I hate the voice. I really really do. I have no problem playing with younger players, as long as they don't talk.

I believe it's because that many young online gamers tend to do things that make the game less enjoyable for others. I'm a young online gamer, but I don't do things to ruin the game for others. I just play.

Because most of them are stupid and annoying on purpose. It's rare to hear a little boy talk into the mic and NOT say stupid shit to deliberately annoy the other players.

My user group, you should join it.

OT: It's all in the voice. And the fact they seem to love screeching down it.
But there is a few 12 year olds online who use a mic and act normally. Last time I played on LIVE, I got into a chat with one and he seemed alright, didn't screech or insult anyone.

Most people hate kids online because most kids online deserve to be hated. The ones with mics, at least.

I don't hate them.

But really young gamers get way over-excited and the high pitch voice really grates on you after a while.

Because in the last ten years their numbers have increased dramatically whilst their standard of manners has proprtionally decreased.

Unfortunately this applies to all ages and groups of gamer, it's just that the young ones are easier to pick on or (from an admin's perspective) deal with.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it's the fact that they're playing games that they're far too young for. Also, the annoying voice/douchebag-in-training attitude is a factor.

I think it is the voice. Just hearing a high-pitched, almost incomprehensible little kid speak is not what I want to hear while I'm on my down-time. If they play well, I'm usually willing to tolerate it. Also, if they aren't annoying or just yelling out random curses thinking they are cool, I have no problem at all playing online with them.

Mainly the voice and the inherent stupidity and ignorance that comes with that age. I mean I won't avoid them purposely but if they're being annoying in general and speaking like their vocabulary is made up of expletives and racial slurs then I'll just leave.

Enjoyed that video though. Reminded me of my guild... Fun times...

I don't mind playing with them, as long as they don't whine. Although even if they do start to yap, I just use my good old friend the mute button.

QFT.

Personally I generally only play online with friends, and definitely only voice chat with friends...

But in answer to your question - generally people hate them because they say annoying things. Lets be honest, voice chat with people is much like conducting a conference phone call with people. People you don't know. If it is too quiet for too long, it gets uncomfortable - people feel they have to say something and, generally, they can think of nothing intelligent or relevant so say so they just spout annoying rubbish until you mute them.

Young gamers just get more hate because the 'random' things they spout are even less interesting to older gamers than the usual rubbish.

Oh yeah, and they do it like banshees.

Goddamn. I just hate kids. I also hate parents that didn't sit down and think about the 'change in online gameplay' that ESRB warns them of.

:EDIT: but I do love 'motor mouth'.

Never had a mike to talk to the other players.
But I hate when people spam rockets and grenades, and that's pretty immature so I'll assume they were kids...[I know, assumptions are bad]
Kids that are immature are usually the reason alot of people don't like going online in the first place; because they are told of these little kids butchering the english language while trying to play the game in the best loophole win they can.

Well because they are the ones who use duel 1887 and camp etc. Plus when they talk it is so annoying.
