I'm on my phone so I can't link a video, but the most memorable in my opinion was the intro to Star Wars: Demolition.

The most awe-inspiring/ my most favorite right now is probably the intro for the first Mass Effect.

I like the opening to LoZ: Wind Waker as well, but that's already been posted, so...

This, from World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

I love the Left 4 Dead 2 intro. It just is exactly what I envisioned as I was playing through the game.

I've got to agree with several other people here: Dawn of War has one of the greatest intro cinematics and Bioshock has the greatest opening.

Honorable mention: World in Conflict New York Cinematic (not an intro, but still awesome!)

-snip vid-
The actual intro for that game was well made, but the first part didn't really fit the tone of the game. So I'd give an honourable mention to the actual WiC campaign intro, if just for its cheesy hilariousness.
"Unmarked containerships" ... with tanks and gunships
Police car driving away: "America is under attack!"
"The vultures have been fed and the world has seen our might ... Now, clear the skies!"
Really, it is as if the whole cinematic isn't meant to be taken seriously up to that point.

YES!!! You took my post... Uh well... I choose Fallout 3 just for its uniqueness.

EDIT: Or TF2 intro if that counts.

I just love the music used in the Phantasy Star series
I also like this one for summing up the plot of the game and the 4th wall breaking-

I have to saaayyyyy... the opening to Prince of Persia: SoT. Was the first that came to mind. The whole "time is like a river" thing, mostly.

Anyone remember Total Anhilation? I have always loved that opening cinematic. This is my favorite by far!

Truly the best RTS-intro ever made, I would almost always watch this intro whenever I played TA

I am not sure Americans liked it but after they dictate orders to several third world countries and kill people while sitting in air conditioned bunkers using drone still want to be seen as the good guys and have the nerve to tell us to do more for Afghanistan while own country is being attacked because of their war, I have to say my favourate intro is the intro to
Red Alert 2.
Every time the US tries to blame Pakistan or tells us to do more or my family members talk about working and liveing in the US(my sister is about to leave), I go and watch this intro on youtube to calm my anger.

Descent: Freespace. So fucking epic.

Resident Evil 3. Best zombie intro ever.

Shadow of the Colossus. I really can't think of an intro that preludes a game as perfectly as that of sotc.

The opening to Metal Gear Solid 3 to me was simply epic. The intro gave you a good idea of what you would be running into and the Snake Eater song was just awesome.

Most of the ones I would have mentioned are already spoken for. Still, this one always gave me chills watching it and I still get a thrill from seeing it even now over ten years later on youtube.

All of the Battlefield intros, especially 2142. Amazing music! Falout 3's is great too. But all time favorite?

Mechwarrior 3. The game that made me a PC gamer. I love all of the Mechwarrior games (Mech Assault does not count... Ever) and intros but, you never forget your first.
