1. Though I should say things like Digimon or pokemon I will say YuYu Hakusho, Cyborg 009, DBZ.
2. Toonami was awesome and anything on was good at the most part so I watched and I was easily sucked in.
3. Yes but I never knew it was anime before we had internet so I would think they we're cartoons from America but many stations have a bad habit of ending the anime you like when it gets close to coming to closure but I still watch it.
I really wish we could have One Piece back but I'll just watch it with subtitles for now

1.Cowboy Bebop was my first series. Not sure what the first movie was. One of the ones Sci-fi used to show late night when it didn't suck(years and years ago).

2. A friend made me watch it and I really got into it after that.

3. Since then, I've been on the lookout for more Anime that I like. Sometimes I'm pleasently rewarded. Othertimes, not so much.

1. Escaflowne
2. It was on a Saturday Morning Kid's block
3. Not really. I didn't really know what anime was so I kind of went on to Pokemon and Digimon years later, then it was Dragon Ball Z for one or two arcs, years after that was Yu-Gi-Oh... You know what, it's just an on-and-off thing.

(1) "Welcome To The NHK"
(2) The description on TVTropes sounded too good to resist.
(3) Yep- I learned it doesn't always have to be about giant robots.

Believe it or not Gundam Wing was my first anime that I really remember, Excluding DBZ I'm sure.

Also sailor moon is vaguely remembered, I was like 6 at the time I believe. Did not notice all the harem in that one.

I was about 7, and it was that one with the robot cat with the magic pocket. My mother's friend's niece was watching it, and I was plonked right down next to her to watch it as well.

And no, it did not make me want to watch more anime, mostly because I was 7 and had no idea that it was an anime. Years passed, and then Dragon Ball Z came on to Cartoon Network here in Australia. I think I was about 10 or 11 years old. Again, my first reaction was "what the hell, their eyes are the size of dinner-plates". My brother kept on watching it though and so I did as well. Never really liked it very much.

Then I saw Neon Genesis Evangelion. I liked it. I didn't think it was the greatest TV show on earth, and I also thought that many of the plot elements were made up and crammed it, and that most of the religious symbology was put in there for the sake of looking cool and strange and that it wasn't nearly as "deep" as everyone made it out to be, but it was different, it had a serious atmosphere, it had characters that had serious flaws.

It took me a while to "get into" anime, and even now..... eh, some of it's okay. But most of it's pretty bad.

I watch so much anime I forgot which one came first (If you don't count DBZ, Gundam or anything on Toonami in the 90's)

I think the first one I watched with all japanese influence still intact (subs) is King of Bandit: Jing. My friend showed me the manga and then lent me the DVD of the first four episodes.
