Not an achievement, but I got the Golden Dragunov sniper rifle in CoD4... Legit. Its something for me because I suck at video games, so that was a huge achievement for me. A good 750 headshots, plus my KDR went to shit.

Beating Resident Evil 5 on Professional. That was a nightmare. Armor is useless, one hit puts you in dying state, AI is stupid, couldn't get anyone to beat it with me, the Wesker/Jill battles we're hell, I just don't want to do it again. And now I have to help my friend beat it.

Rockhound for InFamous... I AM STILL MISSING ONE SINGLE BLAST SHARD *rage*.

*Sigh* I've even tried to follow 3 guides on the internet and did a clean sweep of every district and I am still missing one freakin' shard... It's depressing really.

The Annual achievement in Halo 3. You have to get through the last level on the highest difficulty with 3 other retards constantly taking all the supplies and dying with a skull that forces you the go to the last check point every time someone dies. Additionally you have to complete the warthog run (a race across collapsing platforms) on single person ghosts. Not fucking fun, god damn it!
Oh man, I would do this achievement over and over and over. I did it with 3 close friends, it took us all night, but IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.

Similarly, lots of people on about Brass Balls from BioShock and the same thing in BioShock 2. I found those extremely fun, like the way the game should be played. Same thing with L4D expert.

OT: Burn'em Out Veteran in CoD:WaW. Lots of people in this thread complaining about MW and MW2 veteran. MW1+2 Veteran is a cake walk compared to ANY level in WaW, and Burn'em Out was only about halfway through the campaign. Took me a few hours of pure rage to get. I eventually said screw it to beating that game on vet, too hard.

Also, Aperture Science in Portal, for getting all the gold medals on the advanced challenge things, like least steps, time, etc. It basically requires you never stop moving for the time ones, and pinpoint accuracy, and for steps you basically need to exploit. For portals, those ones aren't too bad with a guide. But I got 9/18 on the achievement, after two pure days of rage, when I did the EASIER challenges. My progress got reset. Never again.

L4D2. Heavy Rain. Sneak past all the Witches. We had one- ONE- AI in the party and I only just managed to ding the achievement. AI spazzed, the last Witch was startled, and my fiance's chances at getting the achievement was screwed.

Ironic part? I'm scared to death of thunderstorms, so we had to keep stopping when the worst parts of the storm hit so I could have panic attacks. Yes, I'm a giant fricking pansy, I know.
Hate to tell you this, but the achievement is simply don't kill any witches, not, don't startle any witches. If the AI startled one, you could have just let it die and walked into the saferoom, and everyone would have still gotten the achievement.

It's not a console achievement but a PC MMORPG title for me: Tusker Blight [http://www.thejackcat.com/AC/Hobbies/Quests/hunter.htm]

It's a repeatable quest. o_O As if anyone would want to!

Sooo many. A short list:

Completing every campaign on L4D1 on Expert difficulty (don't plan on doing the same for L4D2)
CoD4 on Veteran difficulty
Carrying the gnome throughout Half-Life: Episode 2 (was actually kind of fun but never again)
Uncharted 1/2 on Crushing difficulty
Getting Big Boss emblem in MGS4
Getting almost all of the dog tags in MGS2
Doing everything imaginable in Final Fantasy X

Doing the L4D campaigns probably made me rage the most. It takes soooo long just to get through one level. The worst thing is that you get almost there and something horribly unfortunate happens. Then you have to restart.

I remember when my friends and I were trying to complete Dead Air, which we thought was the most difficult campaign. It took us an entire evening to get through it. And when we got to the finale I lost connection. I reconnected right away but it didn't give the achievement so I had to do it all over again. I think my friends were more pissed off than I was, mainly because they had to carry me through the worst campaign again and they didn't even need the achievement.

Mainly my wow Achievements

Loremaster (never again)
Fishing
Cooking
Classic Raider
Black temple

My account got hacked, and all my kit was sold (have authenticator now) but if blizzard were unable to replace it, i would have never played wow again. I just couldn't go through all that again with a new character.

What achievement on the 360 or PS3 caused you the most grief to obtain, so much so you'd never want to do it again?

For me, it has to be the Leonidas achievement in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. A boss that takes away 70% of your life in one move and regenerates his health after should not be permitted in a fighting game.
I share your pain. Fucking amazing game, the best 2D fighter ever made in my opinion but I was forced to use Tager and the press start on 2nd player controller trick to stand a chance. Beating Inward Chaos on Dissidia with Cloud made me want to cry a few times, but it was a test of pure manly commitment, I think. I'm not really an achievement hunter, so I don't generally attempt near impossible stupidly high GS awards, but getting Brass Balls on BioShock was annoying. Always love the thought process to these. Along the lines of "how hard can it be?"

That was the best part about that game. Did it the first playthough on hard, only fired a single bullet (sniper shot, required to take out a vehicle engine) the whole game. It was tough, but certainly not impossible.
Wait... so that shot doesn't count against you? Dangit! I've been prolonging an attempt at this because I've been trying to figure out how to beat the game without doing that. I need to get my copy back from my friend!
Nope, bullets fired at inanimate objects don't count against you. Late in the game there's a roomful of servers to destroy and you can unload on them to your hearts desire without losing the achievement. But I found that out after I finished, when I did it I just ran circles around the outside of the room while the AI tried to riddle me with holes, and they toasted all the servers for me.

I guess this isn't an achievement, but I beat Bioshock 2 only using the drill, shotgun and machine gun on Normal. Jeasus christ...I barely got through it. The end through me up sooo badly.

But anyway, I guess the achievement would be Beating Resident Evil 5 on Professional. Afterword, I had to hide the game because it got me addicted again. I so far have spent 200 hours on that game.

Have you tried using the map. Click the stick to do a sweep of our area. That should help.

completing Gears of War 2 on insane...singleplayer. so bad, but at least it worked, unlike Gears 1 (seriously, my achievement list for Gear 1 has the awards for completing acts 1-5 on insane, but no commando achievement!)

Aye, I used that method when I did the sweep, and constantly while I was following one of the three guides... =/
