My nickname is Shifty.

When I was younger I had a shaved head and I got thick stuble. I looked rough enough. Anyway I was getting a passport photo taken on a really bad day (just out of visiting my dying grandad) and the fucking machine told me to smile. I was got annoyed and the photo was taken of me trying to stare down a camera. My mates saw the picture and said I looked awful shifty. The name has stuck with me ever since. I do get funny looks when I am introduced as shifty but am used to it now.

My names just create one great big ball of awesome!

I have a window just above the headboard on my bed and there is no way I can sleep with the blinds up, it's just so freaky! The other day I was about to jump in the shower and I see white out of the corner of my eye through the window. I turned to look and it was the dog peeking in. I jumped so bad!
Hah, if some animal did that I'd die X3. I've yet to be scared by a movie, TV or game, but real life gets to me a lot X3. I'm pretty easy to spook. My great terror is that I'll come out of the shower one day, and someone pale will stand outside staring in Oo. Or one of the teenage boys in the area... I'm terrified that a teenage boy will get a crush on me after seeing me naked XD. That sounded bad, I really don't think I'm all that sexy... But a lot of teenagers take anything X3.

My name's a religious one. I use to not like it when I was a child because it sounded too serious. So I preferred to go by my many nicknames instead. As I got older, I decided that my birth name was becoming more fitting than my childish nicknames, so I owned it and moved on. I still enjoy my nicknames, but prefer most times to be called by my birth name.

I tend to enjoy the fact that I'm named after my grandfather and not because of it's religious origin.

My name's Johan.

I don't like it because it's really characteristic to a certain geographical area (in this case, Scandinavia, and no, the German name is Johann, though I guess I don't have much to whine about with variations so similar to it, like John and Johann) and the most common nickname for a Johan where I have lived most of my life - Estonia - is Juss.

You may not think much of it, but it rhymes with 'tuss', which is the Estonian word for vagina, and not the nice, vagina type of neutral word for it. Though, I have to admit, anyone hasn't called me that since I (and including most of my circle of friends) turned, like, 12.

I like it because everyone else is either neutral towards it or likes it. And I guess outside of that one instance, it's a name that's hard to be made fun of.

And I can just start introducing myself as John in the future, when I find myself settling in a more Anglo-centric corner of the world. I can just pretend the 'a' is silent.

Vanessa. Eh, it's alright. However, some people really like it and comment about how much they like it; which is weird to me. Believe it or not, people also misspell and mispronounce it more often than you'd think, with an 'e'. ve-NESS-nah , nope. va-NESS-ah.

People usually just shorten it to 'Nessa'. However, my family has been calling me Peanut for ages. Not sure where that came from. I am not even sure they remember where it came from. They just do.

My Names Tim

so, It was a little annoying being called Timmy in high school, but overall, I guess my names fine
then there must be some that call you ..... Tim

aaahhhh good times

captcha: "no way" I swear the escapist is employing mind readers to make me laugh by means of captcha

OT: Reinoudt, which is pretty rare. Nicknames Ruud because people think I looked like van Nistelrooy at some point. Rman in my DnD group, the other people being called H, R and D. Yes we are a very lazy group of people.
lately 1 person insists on calling me "the beard" because I grew one. I don't know if that will stick. I'm indifferent about it.
I've been called less flatering things in my early teens but I won't grace those that felt the need to do so with the honor of mentioning them here.

I feel like my name is kind of a place holder...It's Joseph but I go by Joe which is fine but just kind of lacking in a way I can't really explain. As for my last name, I'm planning on changing it when Dad dies. Probably go with something like Vincent Rei or something.

My name is a typical Irish name, Patrick. My middle name being Joshua since they struggled to choose between them. Patrick was their choice because of my grandad's name and my Irish heritage.

I like it and I like the nicknames I get as well like Paddy and Pat.

At least its the same way to pronounce "Sean" as "Shawn" . Some people call me Josey as in rhyming with Rosey when reading my name.

I'm a JR. so my first name's origin is pretty obvious. Most people just called me Daniel, however a lot of people in high school called me by "Fitz", which is what you get when you drop the -gerald off of my last name. I kind of liked it, but only a few people called me Fitz in college. Most of the people who still do are old high school friends I don't see much anymore.
Come the next Expo, I'll always call you Fitz :D

My name's Jack. I was named after my great grandfather on my mother's side. He lied about his age so he could fight in WW1, and survived the Battle of the Somme.

I also received something of a familial nickname. My great grandfather on my dad's side was called John Donald Sturdy, and his nickname through the village was JD.

So my middle name is Donald, and everyone calls me JD.

Then fucking Scrubs came along!

My name really has no significance outside of my Mum thought of it to stop my Dad naming me (the more hindsight achieved the wiser the idea that was) and it was what she came up with at the time that she didn't hate. Zak works fine as a name but it does slightly annoy me that people always assume it is spelt differently (that is annoyed with the name not with the people).

I've always liked my name, Kedryn. I've always been the only Kedryn, and that's been pretty awesome. It doesn't even bother me that everyone thinks it's a girl's name when they first hear it.

I love my name, Joseph. And even though I don't particularly like my middle name, my middle initial is J, which suits my given name just fine. I guess I lucked out in the name department, eh?

First name Joseph. Last name Smith. I prefer to be called Joe, therefore I am Joe Smith.

Most. Generic. Name. Ever...and I am fine with that.
I am so glad I'm not a Smith; my surname's common enough as it is, I would hate for it to be even more so. I'm even more glad I'm not a Johnson, because then my initials would be J J freaking J.

Names Eric. Don't like nor hate my name. The name is to mean, 'Rightful Prince'.

But I would want my name to be Rockwell or something unique like that. Also I hate it when people spell my name with a 'k' in place of the 'c'.

Eric - Rightful Prince
Erik - Stout Soldier
Rockwell - Gracious Beast

The meanings are from some site from back in the day. So I don't know how they got that meaning.
The name Eric (as most names) doesn't just have one meaning, they usually have a bunch.

Also, I'm Erik, so there's that, which can also mean 'Eternal Ruler', so yay me.

I often go by my nickname though, which, while some people used it before, really stuck after I served in the army. It's simply a shortened form of my surname, and translated to English would be "The Crow". Doesn't sound quite so badass in Norwegian though, but I don't mind it, I like all 3 of my names.

My dad is a cricket fan, particularly of Angus Fraser so I'm stuck with Angus. Not the worst name but after a while the burger jokes get a bit stale. (Oddly the most creative one was made up when I was in year one and got worse)

Alexander: Defender of Man (Greek name FTW!)

Not bad, but my parents considered naming me Ash, which they totally should have done! XD

I also really like my last name; Devine

That's an awesome name. "Be Divine, Vote Devine" will be my slogan if I ever ran for anything...

My name is Niko.
There are two variations, one with "k" (Niko) and one with a "c" (Nico). They are both pronounced the same way but it's more of a fact if you're are a Finnish Finn or a Swedish speaking Finn.
You must have enjoyed GTA IV then!

Emilee (actually spelt Emily - had to do something to set me apart from all the other Emily's in my year)I like the name I suppose. I get a lot of compliments on it, it's a popular name.
Better than what my mum had when she was pregnant with me (Lyndsay Elizabeth, eurgh~ no offence to anyone with that name of course, it just wouldn't suit me).
She used to be a care worker and one of the old ladies was called Emily Victoria and she used to knit me little pink cardigans and blankets for when I was born so when I popped out mum changed her mind when she saw me and called me Emily Victoria.

My first name is Logan and my middle name is one of the most common given names ever.

I personally like my name and I couldn't see me being named anything else. I would like to have a more creative middle name, but the one I have works well.

I dislike the name Jack purely because if somebody was to call my name in a busy street about fifty other people would respond due to how common it is.

If I remember correctly it means "son of" or something. I remember reading somewhere that it means bastard too I think. None of that was ever brought up by any one in high school though.
Eh, it doesn't actually sound that bad 'Fitz', even though it literally means 'bastard son of', but it was almost exclusively limited to royalty/nobility and Royal bastards tended to do quite well for themselves anyway, so it wasn't all bad connotations, I guess. -_- King Bill was called 'the Bastard' FFS!

Yea this is a pretty safe-zone name, I'm sure people call you just good ol' "Spence" too, at least I would.
Huh... unfortunately for one of my sister's old teachers, he got the bad end of being called 'Spencer'... ended up being nicknamed 'Spanker' by everyone... including a lot of the other teachers... -_-
