No real generation in question, but stationed in one of the victory roads. Right before you hit the Elite Four.
Puzzles that involve tiles that glitter in the order needed to be hit, failing to do it in the correct order results in either a burn or posin for the first pokemon in the party.

Team:
1: Wailord, level 55
2: Salamance, level 55
3: Charizard, level 60
4: Golem, level 60
5: Alakazam, level 65
6: Nidoking, level 75

And as an added bonus, when you beat me, I take a trap door through the back and you find me again as the Champion with each of my warriors getting an additional 15 levels.

My gym would not have a type. I would tell my trainers to use the pokemon they feel are cool, but to try to go for a well balanced team.

My own team would probably be:
Blastoise
Ampharos
Skarmory
Marowak
Arkanine
Alakazam (ok, I'd REALLY want mewtwo, but that would just be overpowered)

My badge name: Unity Badge

An Ice type gym

Team: Glaceon
Piloswine
Articuno
Regice
Dewgong
Cloyster

My Trap would basically be the sliding around on ice style puzzle from hell with holes in the ice filled with icy water. If you fall in the hole one Pokemon randomly catches a cold which prevents use of fire type moves and occasionally the Pokemon wastes it's turn sneezing.Only ice types are immune.

I would have a bug type gym.
1)Leavanny
2)Forretress
3)Breloom
4)Ninjask
5)Parasect
6)Pinsir
Basically the maze would involve traveling through a mini indoor forest, in which gym trainers would jump out at you. Oh, and you need flash to see. Once you defeat me I will give out X-Scissor and the Cocoon Badge.

I would make it so to go through my Gym you must first defeat the Elite four... which you need my badge to get to. Trainer commits suicide and I get a no loss record.

But if they found a Loop hole i'd have a Dragon gym Salamence, Garchomp and Dragonite, in one triple battle.

Poison Gym, deffo. Setup:
Croagunk
Garbodor
Muk
Drapion
Scolipede
Seviper

Gym setup would prob be something like a quiz about what poisons attack what part of the body; cells, blood, brain etc etc. Never said it would be easy :p

My lineup:
Zubat
Zubat
Zubat
Zubat
Golbat
Crobat

Mmuuuhhahahahahahah!!!
Pickachu is confused.
???_______???
It hurt itself in the confusion.

That would easily be the most frustrating gym ever.
Why I hate Zubat:

"A wild Zubat has appeared."
"The wild Zubat uses Supersonic"
"Your Pokemon is confused"
"It hurt itself in its confusion"
"It hurt itself in its confusion"
"It hurt itself in its confusion"
"It hurt itself in its confusion"
"Can't escape"
"Can't escape"
"Can't escape"
"It hurt itself in its confusion"
"It hurt itself in its confusion"
"It hurt itself in its confusion"
"Your pokemon fainted"

When you have a Zubat in your team:
"Zubat uses Supersonic"
"Zubat's attack missed"
"Zubat uses Supersonic"
"Zubat's attack missed"
"Zubat uses Supersonic"
"Zubat's attack missed"
"Zubat uses any other attack"
*enemy pokemon loses 1-2 HP*
"Zubat uses Supersonic"
"Zubat's attack missed"
"Zubat uses Supersonic"
"The enemy pokemon is confused"
*enemy pokemon attacks you anyway*
*enemy pokemon attacks you anyway*
*enemy pokemon attacks you anyway*
*enemy pokemon attacks you anyway*
*enemy pokemon attacks you anyway*
"The enemy pokemon snapped out of its confusion"
"FFFFFFFFFFFFFF-"
*DS gets thrown at the wall*

My pokemon gym would be the ultimate test for the trainer. They must go in without any pokemon and walk around dark corridors as my ghost and psychic types terrify them and show them horrifying images and constantly stalk them. Their darkest secrets and waking nightmares will stab at them like the shrieking daggers of hell, and if they make it to me with their sanity intact they'll receive the Asylum Badge. When they turn around the dark corridors will fade, revealing that the door was actually only 6 feet away the whole time.

I would have one in a cave filled with long grass, and the chance of a random Pokemon appearing would be 100%. Also, while in my gym, all random encounters are treated as trainer battles, because the lack of trainers and having random encounters would mean you could just cruise on over, running from each battle. That way by the time anyone got to me they will be weak from my onslaught of Zubats/a random Pokemon I have captured (They all roam free in my gym, no PC for them). This poses the question, do I risk running into one of the many legendaries just to avoid never-ending waves of Zubats?
After that, my team would consist of:
Luxray
Umbreon
Charizard
Haunter
Pidgeot
Blastoise

Dark, ambient dubstep will be playing throughout my gym, so as to give the player a feeling of dread and uncertainty.

The gym of Ultimate Awesome (with Biscuits!):
Dragonite
Dragonite
Dragonite
Dragonite
Dragonite
Dragonite

All level 100, and all the Gym Trainers have them too. If you trip one of the traps you have to fight 100 level 100 Dragonites at once. The badge is a magic Pokeball thing. As soon as you leave the Gym, 1000 Dragonites come out of it and attack you at once.

So, guess what my favourite Pokemon is?

I would use every type, and make my gym full of traps that instakill all of your pokemon. And have a one in ten chance of deleting your save.
This post does not fall within the guidelines of this thread...I love it.
Wow... what an evil bastard. If this is what your gym would be like I'd hate to see what you'd do to the elite four. I think I'd stick with steel pokemon.

Aggron
Metagross
Heatran
Magnezone
Empoleon
Dialga

For my gym, I would make it a factory setting. So timed traps and pit falls.

A ground gym. The traps would involve manipulating water sources to make paths to my tile in the room, some tiles are made of sand and can disappear completely, others are made of stone and stay the same. My team would be...

Nidoking
Torterra
Swampert
Camerupt
Mamoswine
Krookodile

I'm not sure about what the gym would be like, probably doors with riddles to get through them. If you didn't or couldn't get the answer right you'd have to fight one of my guys >.<.

I think mine would be mixed, I'd be the last gym leader and my team would be;

Gengar,
Pikachu,
Gyarados,
Lucario,
Scizor,
Charizard.

and alternate team to be a complete wanker with would be;

Metagross,
Alakazam,
Salamence,
Tyranitar,
Dragonite,
Charizard (it's my favourite ^^).

and if it could be legendaries;

Dialga,
Palkia,
Giratina,
Rayquaza,
Mewtwo,
Mew.

I would use steel pokémon only so that when a challenger walks in I can stare at my pokéballs and say "I've got balls of steel" and watch them flee
