The major focus on gun play really ruined it for me when it reared its ugly head. Oh, and the datker then shit beginning was really annoying. The super powers? Gay!
The tension was really hit and miss too, opposed to the first game where I was practically wading through a pool of my own piss the whole way through.
On a positive note, have you seen the gamerpics for Condemned 2 on Xbox Live marketplace? They picture many of the different crazies and whatnot, and many of them are pretty cool. I especially like the crazy clown. Reminds me a bit of Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal. hehe. I might actually purchase at least that pack.

Great job as always

and you should make ZP shirts, it is a bit on the sell out side, but nothing gets your word out and your wallet full than overpriced pieces of cloth with your logo slapped on them =P

Great, and I was just getting over my paranoia that serial killers used under my bed for social gatherings.

Absolutely brilliant review, but horrible for my mental health.

Best yet, or maybe that's just because I didn't like the last one as much. Also nice way to explain Fahrenheit* I always had trouble getting just the right words.

*It's call Indigo Prophecy in America because they didn't want to confuse the game with the move (Fahrenheit 9/11). Led zeppelin spelt "lead" as "led" because of the formers second meaning and Americans saying things the way they are spelt. Or so I heard, could be wrong.

Ok. I didn't look for the serial killer, but I swear my cat just whispered to me over my shoulder.

There's no-one else there to whisper over my shoulder.

I haven't played Condemned 2, but.. Magical cult? Dumbass writers.

"Listen, we've got a huge plothole and we can't fix it, what should we do?"
"Hm... Say a wizard did it"

That's pretty much what bringing a magical cult into a game like this is.

Sigh. I was *really* enjoying farenheight until about halfway through. The first area was absolutely amazing. The next few were pretty damn enjoyable too. AND it has an interactive sex scene if you manage to woo your ex properly - i'm not suggesting this is particularly erotic or anything but the fact that it managed to slip past the "whatever it is, we're against it" team without even the slightest hint of a complaint amuses me no end. Unfortunately yes, then the storyline which had such a wonderful build up had a resoltion so cop-out you get the impression that it was thrown together at the last minute after the author had written themselves into a corner without thinking ahead.

Now i need to go check out original condemned. Never paid any attention to it whatsoever, but it sounds like it's right up my alley.

Thank you so much for the great review again.
I am so impressed, how you manage to increase the fun by the, um... illustrations. This very simple set of basic shapes are all that is needed, I feel like in a monthy python X deluxe-paint (amiga) rambling. This time that crown poking the eye and the atmosphere-picture as well as the illustration of "realistic melee-simulation" really ads an extra level of fun.

I wonder, why I never had this cult-problem with silent hill. They explained everything but the whole story didn't stop to be creepy. Maybe because a lot of the riddles where so damn unlogical and twisted - throughout the whole game.

But Broken Sword III was so very bad that problem :D

Not so much.

The scene is absent from the US version.

As always, brilliantly constructed. I like the reviews with Yahtzee actually in them. I think those are because he doesn't have 4 extra hours to finish editing but it adds personality, the very essence of a Yahtzee review. Let's see you review something like Lost Odyssey or how about GTAIV day & date?

[Heh, I've never played Condemned (2) but Indigo Prophesy was mentioned, soo... TANGENTS]

First, I can understand the annoyance you might feel with any explicit explanation to Condemned where the ambiance is largely based on being in the dark, but are you people (i.e. the ones who have commented about it in this thread) serious about Indigo Prophesy?

It made no attempt to have a realistic plot. Let me review what you learn in the first hour (if you're a slow gamer, but not dense) of Indigo Prophesy:
The main character was controlled by some hooded figure who seems to be performing a ritual in a room full of candles. The stab wounds precisely cut the arteries to the heart, and this kind of murder has happened before.
So we've already set the bar at some sort of paranormal serial killer - where can we go from there?

Anyway, I might as well (since I registered) take the opportunity to spread the gospel to adventure gamers: go get The Longest Journey, now. The _only_ argument I've heard against it so far is how long it takes to get into the story, but come now, it's an adventure game - go play CS:S/Halo if you want instant gratification.

So, is there more than what we saw in the Steam version then?
