Seriously, as someone who came of age in the days of the NES and the Sega Master System (both of which I owned), the whole console fanboyism issue is as old as dirt as far as I'm concerned. It's just an extension of common human conceit- "what I like is the best, you are stupid for not liking it, and what you like should fail because I don't like it". That's not to say that you can't find it in my chosen realm, PC gaming; witness "AMD vs. Intel", "nVidia vs. ATI", and so on. I'd say Yahtzee pinned it down pretty squarely- this current generation of consoles is one of the most balanced yet, and just about any sort of game is possible these days... but of course, you have that crowd who think every game released should be a clone of Halo 3, GTA IV, Final Fantasy VII or The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy (I might just be imagining that last one, though). Fanboyism will go away at about the time we can depend on the majority of the population not to act like drooling morons.
