i personally like smash bros. Brawl. tho, yes, it does have its weak points, but, as fighting games go, this game isnt too bad
PS: i am not a nintendo fan boy, and in most other mario games i would rather beat the plumber over the head with a bat repeatedly so i nvr have to see is his face on another mario title...

...wait a minute, i CAN beat mario over the head with a bat now! =D

I love unlockables and they can work in multiplayer games- it's a nice suprise to unlock Marth for example, or the complete waste of space that is Jiggly Puff.
I dunno about brawl, but in melee jigglypuff certainly wasn't worthless. At least in the 'competetive casual' atmosphere, any character could own the field depending on the master
why hasnt nintendo gotten rid of jigglypuff? i dont think there is a single person that even LIKES jigglypuff!

I dunno, if you analyze Jigglypuff as a pure fighter she really isn't that bad. She can be lethally powerful if you know what you're doing. For example, Jigglypuff was the only character I ever beat the last event match with, because it was notoriously easy to get rid of Giga Bowser. A true unbiased player can probably become super cheap with Jigglypuff.

The real problem with Jigglypuff is that it honours the anime too much over the original game, which is what SSB should be about. At the time the original SSB came out, people weren't sick of the anime yet and putting in Jigglypuff probably made those fans happy. Now, it seems out of date. Although, I thank God every day that they made him "Pokemon Trainer" and not "Ash".

You're forgetting the humiliation of getting beaten by a pink, floaty, narcoleptic fluffball.

I play Jigglypuff. And I'm pretty damn good with the floating little ball of pink fluff.

Jiggly is massively underestimated and can be deadly in the right hands, even if she (it?) has gotten massively nerfed from it's (her?) Melee incarnation.

despite how much i love SSBB, you've made a ton of points which were dead-on (particularly the one about being "that guy") - this is EASILY the best review you've done. bra-vo good sir.

(also, if more reviews start with eye of the tiger, they will achieve the same level of praise imo)

And my sister's fiance, as he has taken the time to learn how to use her Rest move effectively.

This jigglypuff talk reminds me of when you had to use Jigglypuff in melee to kill gigabowser, ganondorf, and..some other character, and at first you are like "oh my god are you kidding?" - but then you realize that there is no better person than jigglypuff for this fight.

Oh, and I just got Brawl yesterday, I frikin' love it, but I still agree with Yahtzee, and is it just me or are the controls very unresponsive with wavebirds?! I think it's just MY wavebird but, it's really starting to piss me off.

-and seriously, the subspace emissary is fun and all but my God, this has more lengthy detailed pre-rendered cutscenes than a JRPG, and this time, it has no dialogue.

I can't believe how long this thread has gone on for...I'm a fanboy and I'm not this obsessive. If you like it, why not import and go play it! If you don't like it why are you here complaining about it instead of playing something else you enjoy?

Because that's what forums are for; expressing our opinions. Believe it or not, you self-proclaimed fanboy, the rest of us do things other than play video games. We argue about them on forums, like all fanboys, and many non-fanboys. I see that you only have one post, so either all your posts are on a different forum somewhere and you're a hypocrite, or you joined exclusively to express your opinion, like the rest of us with fewer than 20 posts, myself included. And if the latter testimony is the truth, you're a hypocrite anyway for that one last insult you decided to tack onto your post.

...

moron...

(heh, I couldn't resist)

ya, you have a point.
in about every fighting game ive played, there have always been those certain characters that really suck, yet you no that they would probably be very powerful in the hands of some1 who noes how to use them

1 thing i dislike about brawl are the controls. the motion sensers could have so much potential in this game, but yet there is really no use for them, and nearly EVERY1 i have talked to GREATLY prefer to use the gamecube controller for this game over anything else (including myself)

Actually, my roommate plays with the puff as his main character, and he can win as often as the rest of us. And it's been that way both in Melee and Brawl.

Also, there's another reason jigglypuff can't be removed, that being the fact that it was in the original. Nothing that was in the original, because of all-important tradition and other practical reasons (which fail to come to mind right now), can be removed. Even if jigglypuff wasn't popular enough for its existence in the original Smash Bros to be justified, it is now, since it's possibly as famous for being in Smash bros for three seasons as it is for its existence in the pokemon game/anime/merchandise, if not more so.

And I remember being very relieved when I heard about the controls back in '07, since I feared that the motion sensing would (god forbid) force me to relearn the controls, and of course, there's the usual fear of CHANGE. Upon reflection, though, I imagine that motion controls could have been incorporated effectively, but the creators probably predicted (accurately) that lots of whiners would complain about that aspect of the game even if it was as intuitive as ... I don't know, eating.

i dont think they should make the controls completely reliant on the motion sensers, but merely an option, and that you'd be able to choose your control style you want to use

Realistically, the easiest way to shut people up who complain about having to wait about unlocking Sonic or Snake, and apparently intend to throw this game in the bin 3 hours after they buy it, while still giving the rest of us the satisfaction that comes with a successful unlock, is to just include a cheat code. I wonder why they didn't incorporate one sooner.
well, its the whole "grass is greener on the other side" idea. theres more to unlocking characters than simply work. ive learned from using cheatcodes to unlock stuff in the past that if you take the effort out of an achievement, you gain nothing. and if the cheatcodes are dangling in front of you, why would u take the effort? you wouldnt realize it at first, but you would be taking some of the fun out of the game. having stuff like characters to unlock gives you a goal to keep you going.

Haha, wow, even Halo 3 didn't get this much controversy. Could it be that Nintendo fans outweigh 360 fans?!
its mainly because SSBB is a big game, but has much controversy over gameplay, characters, and unlocking stuff, when all halo 3 had to be controversal about is that the story mode kinda sucks and that the game is mostly centered around multiplayer
