if any of you had read the Zombie Survival Guide you would know that the crowbar is the best thing to have against zombies. No moving parts so it won't ever jam or fall apart. It's sturdy so it won't break (so long as you get a good quality one). It doesn't rely on ammunition or fuel, which are limited in the zombacolypse. Finally, it doubles as a tool for helping you survive. Crowbar, FTW
A sledgehammer would work just as good, maybe even better.
If you can break something open, you can smash something open. And thanks to the great smashing power you can break even more things open.

Drawback, it's slightly heavier.

Also far more efficient in clubbing down zombies.
Slightly heavier? A sledgehammer is significantly heavier. Also a crowbar is sharper, better for piercing the skull and destroying the brain, which we all know is vital.
A man of normal build wouldn't have any problems wielding it. And crushing tends to be more satisfying than piercing.

A high powered hose. The force of the water blows the zombies back and could rip apart their flesh (depending upon how rotted it is). Plus once the zombies are down they are easy to kill.

actually it suggests the Shaolin Spade as a weapon. Rare but extremely useful. If pushed I reckon it could be used to the same effect as a crowbar.

The motions for swinging a sledge hammer at a zombie horde would leave you exposed. Compare that to a crowbar, which you can hit the zombie with and retract it quickly.

Main: Ruger Mini-14 with a 30 round magazine and 500 spare rounds of ammo
Sidearm: Taurus 24/7 OSS 9mm with a 17 round magazine and 200 spare rounds of ammo
Melee: Titanium alloy crowbar

I just recently purchased the Zombie Survival Guide, so I'm kind of an expert on these things. /arrogance

Well I was just thinking from the perspective of my Orchard escape plan, in which I would already have access to high powered hoses hooked up to a large supply of water.

On a side note, wouldn't fire hydrants still be connected to their water source?

... Then you must dual-wield sledgehammers! One to smash, the other one to smash while you're already smashing!

I suppose the crowbar has the better potential among the common man.

just watch shawn of the dead, everyone knows to just find a pub, be very quiet and wait for the military to bail your ass out. besides if that fails you're screwed whatever you use eventually

True, but again this was the perspective from my zombie escape plan so I already have that covered.

ok, but I'd still have a gun/crowbar just in case

You realise that now your just going to have RADIOACTIVE zombies who will give you cancer and might horribly mutate but not die and their going to pass the radiation to every other zombie they come into contact with and they'll spread it to the soil and oh god the horror.

I'd use my trust Bowie knife and a crowbar, easily replaceable weapons, lightweight and silent so as not to attract the horde

Battle music would have to be Queen's don't stop me now

If you did read the Zombie Survival Guide you would know that the sledgehammer is greatly inferior to the crowbar.

For me it has to be the Automatic Shotgun/Katana. Shotgun for range and Katana to slice up ones that get close.
Music: Survivor, Eye of the Tiger.
