Which is weird, because if I was convinced someone was grooming my kids I wouldn't give them a gun.
Not just that, but way to put more guns in our schools GOP! Now the shooter doesn't need to buy 1000 rounds and three guns, because he knows Mrs. Fitzroy from homeroom is packing and he can just shoot her first and take her gun.

And if the Uvalde police shit their pants at the prospect of one shooter blasting away, imagine charging into a full on warzone like the siege of Autobot city where bullets are literally flying everywhere.

Doesn't have to, someone or later some teacher is going to leave their gun unattended and some kid is going to pick it up without any forethought. Doesn't even have to be murder, kids and unattended guns lead to accidents all the time.

Assuming it's not the teacher that's the shooter, which could happen, though it doesn't seem the norm.

Imagine needing an armory supervisor at elementary schools. Imagine a gun cabinet in the gym shower rooms when the gym coaches take showers. Imagine a late/hungover teacher leaving her gun in her car, and the car is accidently unlocked.
and what, all those teachers keep their guns at home? With their families and kids?!

Im not married, and I don't want kids, but if I was and had some and my wife was a teacher and said "New rule, there's a .44 magnum in this house now as part of my school uniform"...the answer is no. I don't want pistols in my house, and I would expect my wife to quit her job.
Or do they keep all the guns on campus in the armory between the cafeteria and the art room?

I was going to say something like "What kind of teacher would want the responsibility of killing their students?" but then it occurred to me that there are people who'd want that.

"According to the other teachers, little Timmy was no angel..."

Also, this comic from 4 years ago comes to mind:

Christ, that's something I never thought about. Parent/teacher conference night, after Coach Paul explains how they're doing flag football, and the lunch ladies assure parents vegan options will be available, back to homeroom with Mrs. Fitzroy for her to show off her Beretta m9 with expanded clip capacity and hollowpoint bullets and how she's fully trained and ready to kill any of her students at a moment's notice if they're an active shooter.
Or imagine the parent who asks the teacher if she's prepared to kill a student to protect the others.

Well not to detract from that dude being an absolute fucking boss but, hey America you're now home of the custom child coffin. Go fuck yourself.
Yeah, I didn't know how to take that. I mean, you want to believe it's a benevolent gesture, but at the same time, you're asking parents if they want a custom coffin for their children... Just doesn't sit right with me. I think covering the costs of normal caskets would have been less, I dunno, grating? I don't think a customized coffin does anything to affect the fact of the loss. I'm sure his intentions are good, but how do you ask a parent who lost a child only a couple of weeks ago how they want their child's forever box tricked out? But I'm in no position to do either gesture, so I guess I'm okay with it in the end; just sad such a gesture might ever be necessary. He's doing SOMETHING while the rest of us aren't, least of all our government.

Personally I can't imagine the emotional tole it takes to build 19 child caskets, let alone the funeral directors who prep the body. And we know from the reports, grizzly as it is we can't shy away from it, most of these bodies are not intact. They needed DNA to identify the bodies. And the shooter shot most of the kids in the head at close range with a high powered rifle. These are closed casket funerals.
I don't think I could keep working in my field after handling those funerals.

Finally Biden is taking some initiative and doing something!
Joe Biden has reacted:

President Milquetoast said:
"We need to ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines. And if we can't ban assault weapons, then we should raise the age to purchase them from 18 to 21; strengthen background checks; enact safe storage and red flag laws; repeal the immunity that protect gun manufacturers from liability; address the mental health crisis, deepening the trauma of gun violence."
The parts I boldfaced corresponds with the actionable policies I talked of earlier.

Restricting high-capacity magazines, permit-to-purchase laws tied to universal background checks, taking guns away from demonstrably dangerous people and those prohibited from possessing guns, better early-warning systems, and closer tracking of the data that will inform other solutions.
He also urged people to make this issue central in the mid-terms elections.

Of note is that the US has had various assault weapon laws in the past that have now expired, there's a precedent for that. Though the laws are generally not that hard for people to get workarounds for.

Also, the states need to work together and have similar laws, having every jurisdiction do things differently is a mess.

Of course the 2nd Amendment is not absolute. Its an amendment. It was added like 25 years after the Bill of Rights were signed. If we're going by strict as-written at the time it was written rights from the Bill of Rights, yeah, no guns. Not in there.

Agreed. It takes a strong will to involve oneself in such a thankless task as commemorating a child taken through such senseless violence. Like I said, he's doing something; most of us aren't. God willing this is a trade we won't need going forward, but reality suggests there's going to be a need going forward.

Yes, Democrats are gonna Democrat

"Gee guys, this gun thing sure sounds like a problem. Someone should REALLY do something about it!!! Does anybody know anybody in politics that might be able to help?"

Usual Democrat talk. Until something actually gets done and signed, you can disregard anything they have to say because they either want to do it but shucks darn they just can't.

Personally I've given up that jack shit is going to happen. Nothing happened the last time a bunch of kindergarteners got gunned down in their school, nothing will happen this time when a bunch of kindergarteners got gunned down in school, and next time a bunch of kindergarteners are gunned down at their school, nothing will continue to happen except "Thoughts & Prayers" and "This is not who we are, we need to make changes!!!!"

Eh, occasionally there are some gun restrictions put in place. Nothing near what's needed, but enough to stop some shootings.

But yeah, most likely nothing is going to happen.

What do you suggest they do? Genuine question.

I understand your lack of faith in congress being able to do anything, but I don't see what they can do, unless those opposing legislation are either convinced to change their mind or otherwise voted out.

You already got it in your first part, I expect them to do nothing. They have no desire to do anything so they're not going to do anything. They're going to talk about how much they need to do something and then do nothing.

I'm not going to pretend to be a great political mind and give a step by step account of what they could do but I will say it's amazing how Republicans have zero issues getting everything they want done and we HAVE to stop Republicans from taking the presidency or else we're all doomed but a Democratic president (with full control over the House and the 50/50 split majority in the Senate) has zero power to do anything.

That is fair, once in a while The Democrats do their other thing; toss a few crumbs our way so that people can pretend like Democrats are a beacon of hope and goodness instead of just Diet Republicans.

Diet Republicans is unfair. They're slow lane republicans. Doing the exact same shit a couple of decades later. Always staying just behind republicans to achieve the same goals.
