Republicans voted against the border bill at Trump's demand, because he doesn't want Biden getting credit for it. He wants it to happen under his administration. So is Trump willing to endanger America for another several months for his own gain, or is the border situation not as bad as he claims?
Although hardly unique to the Republican Party, voting against bills for no purpose other than to deny opponents an achievement is the worst sort of bullshit.
The border bill was, for what it's worth, really dumb. The bill is more lenient than the laws already on the books that Democrats already selectively ignore, with the only actual effect being more money towards processing people in. Why would Republicans vote for that?
So explain to us: why did the Republicans negotiate and campaign for it in the first place, then?
Daddy Trump told his kiddies to kill it, so they killed it. And with that volte face the right wing political/media machine made up a new hymn sheet for the faithful to sing from to explain it all away.

The border bill was co-authored by some of the most conservative republicans in the party and had bipartisan support until Donald Trump stuck his nose into it.
Including Mitch McConnell, who worked hard to garner support for it, and then voted against it once Trump demanded it be defeated.
The Republican Party, in its entirety, is Donald Trump's simp.
Optics.
Designing bills intending for them to fail is American Politics 101. Republicans in congress do with the border what Democrats do with guns.

Uh-huh. That's the narrative they're going with to explain away the volte-face when Trump gave them the orders, eh?
Fact checking was always awful. I always hated the concept of "fact checkers". Great idea in theory, but the entire premise has become opinion pieces. But they're opinion pieces that are presented as authoritatively correct.
Nothing says "I hate colonialism" like pretending to be a Japanese imperialist who hates women, feminism, minorities and LGBT people.
He also finds it surprising he was able to have great conversations with Koreans while masquerading as a Japanese person, yet it never occurred to him he could have had such conversations by being honest about his true national origins.
"This is why I pretended to be Japanese to help fight Japan".
That's probably a typo, but I'm inclined to believe it is exactly what it sounds like.
These scumbags don't care about Japan. Their respect for Japanese people begins and ends with the anime, manga and video games they make for them.
I figure there's probably some stereotypes that appeal to that sort too. "Imagine an entire country where you can force your hand down a woman's panties on the train and she won't dare complain because she knows it's a man's prerogative!"
