The Escapist's Video Player - Feedback and Updates

Still getting old ads from when Lisa and Jim were part of the site.

    Zero Punctuation: Resident Evil 4

Not really. First, it provides a good look at how a company can make a game better from one game to the other. With Dead Aim, they take all the stuff that didn't work with Dino Stalker and polish everything that did work up to a shine. Second, it's quite a good entry for a Guncon 2 Resident...

Projects that fizzled out that you really wish hadn't.

Fear Effect Inferno: Killed so they could free up resources for Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness (so poetic revenge was served in the end). Final Fighting Fantasy: It was increasingly apparent that the animator was taking on more than he could handle for a newgrounds project near the end.

    Venom (2018) Trailer

I actually like this trailer a little better. Stress the "little" part because I like the notion of Venom manifesting himself slowly. (Voices in the head, then strange goo powers leading up to "We...Are....Venom") rather than "Goo splattered on me and I'm instantly okay with being an evil...

    Extra Credits discussion thread

They were okay while they were here although the fanbase could be really obnoxious (Gamification is a topic that comes to mind on something that the fanbase was all too willing to take them as Word of God on.). After they left, I think I watched a video or two but I haven't really kept up...

FarCry 5 is getting fairly postive reviews

Meh. Polygon's critic is pissed that the game doesn't cater to his political views. (You want a serious discussion about gun violence in a Far Cry game? Is this the first time you've played a Far Cry game, Ben?) It happens all the time when a writer who is reduced to writing reviews about...

FarCry 5 is getting fairly postive reviews

*Shrug* It's not Star Wars and it's not made by EA. I don't.

Is Spiderman: Homecoming even remotely good?

Spider-Man: Homecoming: Everything that isn't Michael Keaton: It's blandly ok. Tom Holland strikes me as really....nice....I guess. RDJ is at a point where he can just phone in the Tony Stark persona. The movie is, in many ways, an indictment of how Marvel has done movies where the whole...

Explain how a robotic/machine society would function?

The most interesting Skynet came from Now Comics (80s publisher before Dark Horse got the license). This version of Skynet was hooked up to everything and told to give humanity what it wanted. After it analyzed our history, it concluded that humanity wanted war and gave it to us. As the war...

    Update on Erin Dies Alone

Thank you for posting this. I kinda just figured that it was another case of "Creator leaves Escapist and takes their IP with them, tries to run their IP on their own site, IP dies off".

Will Game of Thrones' finale suffer the same fate as Mass Effect 3's ending?

Some of my favorite endings have been the "Rocks fall, everyone dies" endings. A good ending doesn't necessarily mean that everyone lives happily ever after....or even that everyone lives. Given everything that has been going on in Westeros, a TPK ending strikes me as one of the most...

    Gaming Unpopular opinion

I'm going to follow up on my earlier statement with EA. EA's Battlefront 2 lootbox scheme was not the biggest DLC ripoff of 2017. At best, I'd say third. Second goes to Raiders of the Broken Planet. I do really like the game BUT they release new characters for prices currently up to $40...

Is Resident evil 7 best RE game ever? if so why?

Nah, I'm going to go with Resident Evil Dead Aim.

Do you still base your game purchases on whether Yahtzee recommends it?

It's kinda like listening to Sean Hannity. Both of them might have valid opinions on their subject manner but you need to be aware that they: 1) are preaching to the choir and 2) have bias that make their opinions less useful than someone who tries to come at the subject from a more...

Do you still base your game purchases on whether Yahtzee recommends it?

Never did. I may have been influenced by him to give Painkiller a second shot but, otherwise, no. As it is, his schtick with the Wii and how he embraced backlash against "casuals" showed that he really wasn't a critic but an entertainer. Given that a lot of his gimmick goes along with what...
