The problem with Anonymous is that there is no formal group. While that does prevent every single person from being caught or targeted by police or companies, it also prevents us from being protected by their antics. A good comparison would be that Anonymous is like Mass Effect's Cerberus. There is no single unified group, it is composed of various splinter groups and factions aswell as individuals who all basically work towards a single goal (Though there may be some individuals who are looked up to or respected the same as the 'Illusive Man' from Mass Effect, one example is 'Wise Beard Man' who a fair number of Anon protesters look up to in the fight against Scientology). While they all refer to themselves as Anonymous, that doesn't mean that they are noble or good like one group is. So if ANYONE from Anonymous commits a illegal or bystander affecting action, it basically brings a negative image to ALL Anonymous members.
