Who cares, the series is fun to people and faulting people for liking something that's not "deep" is just ignorant. Because obviously intelligent people can only enjoy deep and meaningful games and fun isn't subjective at all.

I like Dr. Who and that's for kids and lacks any real depth, but millions of adults like it also both stupid and intelligent.

Im really just shoehorning my frustrations here, but who cares about this?

People who dislike call of duty are far more annoying than those who do like it, the haters never shut the fuck up. You can't watch any youtube video with an FPS without kids saying "derp it's better dan call of duty"

Anyway, of course the games lack depth and are easy juvenile fun. But the point is that its fun for many people regardless of whatever intelligence you think someone has. The people who relate what someone likes to a persons intelligence are the real ignorant ones because obviously the world is black and white in terms of enjoying things and intelligence.
The problem with games that are juevenile and lack depth is that when they're as popular and successful as Call of Duty it promotes MORE games that are juevnile and lack depth because the games sell better that way. Meanwhile games that actually have a semblence artistic merit and creativity get left collecting dust on the shelves because the bigger, popular, and brainless titles get more attention.

That's problem that people have with games like Call of Duty. Dumber games sell more and get made more while smarter games get ignored and get made less often.

Whenever I play CoD, I always come across 12 year old kids, whose voices are about 10 times louder and higher pitched then what's reasonable.

Sounds like the entertainment industry.

Wait... Did you just equate Harry Potter with Justin Beiber? This entire article is null.
Well they're both depressingly average and uninteresting. They're kinda similar when you think about it.

A huge adrenalin rush you don't have to leave the couch to find and acquire through much needed exercise.

This, very much this.

Also the fact that theres an entire section on "It looks so real"... I'm a very firm advocate of "graphics don't matter" so I don't see it as a negative that CoD has terrible graphics but why the heck do its graphics keep getting praised?
It cites Black Ops in particular which arguably has WORSE graphics then MW2...
When a game has terrible graphics it just does... have these people not played anything post-N64 besides CoD?

so all of sudden were back to saying video games are child's play? I'm confused i thought you people wanted video games to be treated equally like T.V., Books, Music, Movies, etc...
NO!

The article is saying children like call of duty because it has elements that children enjoy.

That's not the same thing as saying gaming is a kiddie thing STOP THE INSANITY
I was joking 0_0.
My bad. I've seen enough overreactionary stuff from gamers these days that it was easy to believe you weren't!

In a weird way, that makes sense. And sadly true, as i am sure you are familiar with some of the Skyrim threads recently haha.

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't it seem a bit childish to argue about who's game of pretend war is more childish than the other? Ultimately, you're arguing between calling something a "toy" or an "action figure."

Have you ever had to drill in front of crowds of people who aren't in the military? It doesn't matter if crawling in the mud will save your life, grown men playing war games shouting, "BAM BAM BAM" at an imaginary bunker is not dignified, but it's damn more advanced than any video game on the subject matter. Seriously, pausing an entire movement because some guys kicked their soccer ball across our path.

Its somewhat taboo for them. It's that "Mature Only" factor that makes it interesting. Pre-teens and teens want to be treated like they are adults so they are more interested in things that adults do.

Also they brag to they're friends that they've done this or that and it gives them attention. For instance why is it that....

Playing violent video games
Watching gore-filled movies
Cussing
Smoking before 18
Getting smashed before 21

is soooo appealing? It's appealing because it's not something you are supposed to do when your that young.

On the note of getting your ass handed to you by a 12 yr old, that is because they dont have a job. All they have is School and, for some, other after-school activities such as sports. They have more time to practice they're game. Much more than those that go to college or work 10 hr shifts.

Before that, it was Halo. Before that, it was Counter-Strike. And waaay before that it was the Quake/Doom/Duke3D era. Every generation has their own "it" title for any and every age group and the same thing can be said about CoD. Any more straw-man arguments?

First off, what's wrong with Harry Potter? You seem to insult it, and I'm not exactly sure why. It's a solid novel that starts off young and grows up with its characters and target audience. So, I don't know where you're going with that one.

Now, is CoD for kids? Meh. It's for anyone who wants fast paced action. I don't like CoD. I own pretty much all of them, but I actually don't really like it. But, I don't think there is a point to insult their player base, and if you don't mean to, it kinda seems like you are in the post.

For "kids"? Nah. For anyone who feels like a first person shooter? Of course. That could be a 10 year old or a 30 year old. It's not inherently for one demographic or the other in this case. At least, that's what I think.
