Apparently COD is a children's game?

CoD Bash Fail, it's not cool anymore, it was never cool. I understand that you're upset becuase you want to get a squad together on battlefield but all your- dang-nabbin- friends are playing CoD instead, but they can't help the fact that Fun is Fun, no matter where you have it. It doesn't make them "Noobs" or "Kids" or "lacking in taste" or "not a real man" or "fanboys", they're just enjoying some gaming!

In alot of peoples honest and humble opinions Infinity Wards multiplayer is more fun than Dices multiplayer. You need to wake up the fact that there's nothing wrong with it. Kicking ass on MW2 is more fun than anyother multiplayer game i have played in the last 2 years..for me. I will be buying CoDMW3 at midnight, and have booked a week off'f work to sit and play it in my underwear for 20 hours a day and frankly Battlefield wishes it could make me feel the same way.

Speaking from actual first-hand experience rather than quoting from some article, the vast majority of people I meet in the CoD lobbies are pissed-up twenty-somethings slurring swearwords down the mic. I don't know what nationality the OP is, but over here in the UK CoD games have always carried

meaning it is illegal in this country for anyone under that age to buy or be sold a CoD game. Where we get all the infantile screamings from is games like Halo: Reach which only carries a PEGI rating, which is merely an advisory rating, meaning 12 year olds can purchase Halo in UK stores.

It's this generations Halo really, all the young kids are having COD as their introduction to (console) FPS and because they don't have much to compare it to think it's the best game ever. Whereas an older audience can see that there are a lot more shooters out there with a much bigger experience than COD.

actually Game retailers enforce PEGI aswell, atleast they did when I worked in Game, You could get a 5000 pound fine and get the sack if you didnt ID people who looked under 21.

Really? Well that's good to know, I suppose. I mean, kids are always gonna borrow their older brother's games and so on but having some enforcable regulations at least turns the 'violence in games' arguement around from 'it's the fault of the game industry' to 'it's your own bloody fault'.

Also the fact that it is 18 might be another reason because playing a game or watching a movie they are too young seems to empower them, I'm pretty sure GTA was popular among kids (escpecially San Andreas)

I hate running into young teenagers online. I hate their voices, their insults, their playstyle, and just about everything else about them.

My hatred of most things younger than me aside, I think they're drawn to it mainly because of the multiplayer. It's that whole sense of empowerment thing that they get by killing other people in a videogame where there is no consequence other than the other guy getting a little peeved at best and yelling at them at worst. I've never understood the sense of superiority that a lot of people apparently feel when they win in a videogame. Don't get me wrong, I like winning, but if it's not a challenge, I'm not enjoying myself.

Is it a childrens game? yeah it seems so insofar that a lot of kids play it but its certainly not just a childrens game I know a lot of adults who play it as well.

This reminded me of something that happened when I bought Mario Galaxy 2 I had picked up the game and was on my way to the checkout when I passed a bunch of kids near the 360 games (im not saying 360 is for kids its just where they were) who looked about 10 - 14 who then (for some unknown reason) decided to insult my game choice saying Marios shit and its a kids game and that COD is much better (note thats the general gist of what they were saying cant remember their exact wording).

I decided to have some fun so replied well if its a kids game why arent you playing it then? cant remember their reply think it went something along the lines of cos its shit and me being a noob or something so I just said well im over 18 and therefore an adult you lot are clearly under 18 and therefore children now I will be playing Mario you are (apparently) playing COD (think it was MW2, which they shouldnt be playing anyway technically but since when has that stopped anybody) so whos really playing the kids game.

So in short I would say games generally cant be clear cut so easily especially one with such mass market appeal as COD. Now if you had said its a blokes game that I could understand as almost all of the girl gamers I know dont or havent played it at all.

More kids play CoD then Halo now.

When a CoD 1st comes out it seems like a bunch of older people start playing. After a few weeks they quit because it becomes as boring as COD always becomes.

Kids stay hooked each game though, funny thing is kids like to get the max level and never prestige lol they just sit at max level and feel badass.
