umm no, it's not the videogames nor the players. if anything, videogames have become more artistic and complex than many hollywood movies. you just hire the most brainless, talentless, shameless hacks to write and direct your shitfest movies and produce them by-the-numbers, with money as your only goal in life.

THIS is why hollywood movies suck today.

Thank God we have people like Movie Bob to point out how big of an idiot he is.

There have always been crappy movies. There have always been schlocky, violent, over-the-top action that appeals to the lowest common denominator. Movies have ALWAYS been this bad, we just tend to remember only the good movies.

This guy is a great actor and all, but what does videogames have to do with bad hollywood scriptwriters ? are they the same that makes videogames storylines ??? cause in that case we better pray for not being doomed to mediocrity !

"They're geared toward the videogame-playing generation. And these videogames, which I'm on my son about constantly, these games are people killing for fun, and I think traditionally in movies, there's always been some kind of lesson in the violent movies."
There are in games too you dumb fucking!!!!!......*sigh * You know what? I never liked your movies anyway. Yeah, its ad hominid or whatever, but you still suck.

Oh, this is silly. It's not OUR fault the video game movies suck. They'd be great if the directors could direct and the people could act. It's not our flipping generation's fault.

Just watch this interview with Billy Bob if you haven't already, and tell me you can take anything that comes out of his mouth remotely seriously.
Poor Jian Gomeshi....I can't tell if BBT was just high or just an asshole.

Yeah, I can't take anything BBT says seriously now. He's a hack.

Another case where people think they have 20/20 hindsight but it turns out they are just as blind to the past as they are to the future, you would think someone would actually try remembering ALL or maybe HALF the movies that came out before the "videogamer generation."

Hollywood has as much success in creating "good" movies as a gambler at the roulette wheel in every decade, for every generation.

In my mind, the only decent movie he ever contributed to was Mononoke No Hime (Princess Mononoke), and he was just a voice for the English dubs.

I feel like hes complaining to make himself feel better.

Seems ol' Billy Bob's having some domestic issues with his son, and has taken to whining about it in public. Poor show, chap.

So....the person who is saying this made "Bad Santa"?

Wow, that's cute, not only does he make terrible movies, but then calls the rest of Hollywood terrible, and blames it all on something else entirely.

EDIT: "Faster" has a Metacritic score of 41, ROFL!
if we all paid attention to metacritic, then by that logic, GTA 4 and Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 3 are some of the best games ever made, you really cant trust it

so, yeah, its sort of our fault because we are the generation hollywood wants to reach, and most of us are so strung out on high-octane violence like in Cash-In of Duty that hollywood naturally wants to leech of that success. (seriously? who WOULDNT want a piece of that 300 million dollars in 24 hours action?)

Listen to him, he had sex with Angelina Jolie. Listen to him.

Angelina Jolie, dammit.
what, you mean like in a movie?
Nah, they were married. I'm sorry, don't go rushing to Netflix at light-speed.
he DID have sex with Halle Berry in a different movie... you can rush to Netflix for that XD
Those ARE some of the best games, seriously, go into a Gamestop, close your eyes and pick a completely random game off the shelve, 95% of the time it will be worse than the ones you mentioned.

And I don't care if you personally don't 100% trust critics, if it's 41 it is BAD. If it was a 60 I might be able to give it the benefit of the doubt but come on.

I find it funny how he defends Hollywood from his own criticisms by saying that even the violent movies have messages. Has anyone found a message in any of the Die Hard movies yet?

Fables have messages too Bob, but they can be told within ten minutes and dont spray blood and bullets everywhere.

F**king idiot.

The man made Bad Santa. As far as iI'm concerned his opinion doesn't matter to anyone.

Besides, Isn't it the other way around, that the games are suffering because of Hollywood. Trying to be films with interactive bits (I know this isn't the case for all games, but think of most AAA titles recently) isn't what I signed up for when I started playing a game about an Italian stereotype jumping over barrels and turtles. Let's get the crazy back in games, it's the only medium you can get away with it!

I'm sorry, what was ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF THIS YEAR BASED ENTIRELY AROUND. Vidja games, my friends. Scott Pilgrim Vs. Billy Bob Thornton: FIGHT!

Anyway, uh, video games have repeatedly shown a maturity and dignity about violence that only someone with a very vague and unsophisticated understanding of them could dispute. See: Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption, any serious war shooter, the list goes on.

Hey. Die Hard was f*cking awesome, and while it was definitely peripheral there were meanings to be gleaned from the series. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

funny thing...
holly wood is suffering because of the Internet.

with media portals like YouTube, Newgrounds, and random blogs big wig execs are seeing that if you shell out a bunch of crap but line it with some gold trim in the way of Nostalgia, humor, and some popular refrence or meme and you rake in a metric fuck ton of cash with no work.

look at Scott Pilgram vs. The World.
High budget film that was inovative, fun, and refreshing.... Box Office Flop.
look at Expendables.
Crap film with a horrible plot, story, and mild violence but stars every action star you can imagine.... wildly successful in the box offices.
