Somewhere, from atop the high-end tower that can run Crysis on max settings, the PC gaming master race is laughing at the console peasants fighting amongst themselves.

Herr Yahtzee was correct.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over here from my couch.

To me, it feels a little insulting that as the buyer of the primary version, I get less for the money. I don't mind that the PS3 get the game, that's perfectly fine. I do mind however that once they get what was supposed to be an exclusivity, they even get the sweeter deal. Being a fan of the series, it's as if I was "punished" for buying the game as soon as I could. Exclusive DLCs, shoddy ports, superior versions specific to a single console... those are lame tactics. I prefer it by far when everyone gets the same version as much as possible, no matter the SKU.

Edit: And I want to add that it's not as if I was enraged or anything about this topic, I'm not getting into the flamewar and I'm not one of those fanatics that can't accept this kind of business decisions. I'm just saying that learning this came with a bitter taste.
You mean just like people are "punished" for buying a game before a GotY or ultimate edition comes out? Should I demand I get all the Borderlands DLC free? How about the Fallout 3 DLC?
This is not about demanding anything Frostbite. I'm just saying that I don't appreciate this kind of business decisions. But in fact, you are right in guessing that these Game of The Year edition also feels like I'm being screwed over. I know it's not the first or last time I'll feel this way though, and not making such a big deal out of it. Just enough to rant a little about it on the net =P

I only have a xbox now, but as long as the ps3 gets a game that has huge sales, it can only be good xbox and pc players. If the ps3 version gets released and is the greatest seller of all time (who knows, maybe), then the release of ME3 will be on a far more epic scale and include a game refined by input from that many more gamers. With that much enthusiasm and attention, the released game will be cleaner, error free, and offer special editions for a couple hundred bucks that a include DVD's and a mini-Normandy model. Just saying that good press and attention will lead to good gaming when the newest ME2 DLC and when ME3 come out to play.

I don't see why this should incite a flame war. What with how long the Playstation crowd has had to wait for this game to be released, I'd be pissed if they didn't try to make up for it.
See, here is the problem. I have bore witness to untold numbers of PS3 fanboys do nothing but talk pure GARBAGE about Mass Effect ever since the game came out, and now I see them praising the game to the high heavens because they are going to get it. (I am not referring to you, btw) So I have to disagree that about that particular group of fanboys deserving ANYTHING when it comes to a game like this.

The 360 could get God of War, Metal Gear, all the FF games, LBP, and Twisted Metal... in return for Mass Effect going to the PS3, and we 360 owners would still be getting shafted. I have been there since day one, and this series became my favorite hands down over any other games I had played... ever. To see this happening to 360 owners that have been extremely loyal to this game from the beginning, only to look like we are getting slapped in the face now, is a travesty. Yes, it bothers the hell out of me.

The 360 crowd made Mass Effect what it is today, and Bioware is biting the hand that feeds it. Pure and simple.

you see, here is your problem, fanboys do not equal owners, not every PS3 owner scoffs at other gaming exclusives just because they don't have it, I personally am a PS3 owner and I don't hate every Halo or gears of War just because playstation don't get them, ME2 is coming to the PS3 now, I'm excited. the only ones complaining here are the PC/360 fanboys, they are getting angry basically because PS3 owners are getting a ME1 recap thing for theirs AND all currently released DLC, Bioware did this because A) PS3 owners didn't get ME1 due to microsoft publishing it, B) because of the extra years wait and C) Mass Effect is going to be completely new to PS3 owners so they have ALOT of catching up to do. Bioware are treating this like ME2: GOTY edition so basically you complaining abou us getting free DLC is like comlaining to Bethesda or Ubisoft for not releasing their game's DLC with the disc until the GOTY edition is out

No, I'm not complaining about the DLC, I'm complaining about the entire game going to the PS3. I dont care if thats not a popular opinion to have, it doesnt change the fact that it bothers me.

Few things in the game industry are as pathetic as the console wars. I understand that people want to feel like they picked the best console, but the sheer scope of the hate, arguments and whining around that desire is ridiculous.
It's really not want so much as have to.

Unlike those of us that work for a living and earn a decent wage, the vast majority of people cannot afford all or even multiple consoles. Following all kinds of interesting studies on purchasing behavior you find that the large purchases, especially ones that cannot be returned (cars and the like) seem to inspire the most loyalty from their customers.

I still wish we could get the first Mass Effect game for the PS3 but at this point I'm just glad we get that comic thing so we're atleast up to speed for those who didn't play the first game. Atleast we get the DLC's and patches and all the good stuff like the people on the 360 had and lastly the main thing that makes me happy is I've heard that the ME series has a great storyline and now I can finally experience it without having to watch a playthrough on youtube. :D

It is kind of hard not to take the extra work put into the PS3 version as a jab at Microsoft for making the first game an Xbox exclusive. But, in taking a jab at Microsoft, they are at risk of alienating the fans of the franchise that only have access to it on the Xbox 360.

BTW, where is the Platinum Edition for the 360??? It is long past due!

The little comic thing just won't be the same as playing through Mass Effect 1, but what could you do?

The PS3 version might be better, but it's been almost a full year since Mass Effect 2 came out, and the game can't be much better. An improvement, sure, but there isn't much to really improve on without majorly changing the game.

And besides, Mass Effect 3 will probably be pretty much the same on all formats.

I like that the PS3 are getting it but why the hell did they do this. It's a complete slap to the face of their original fans.

Exactly this. Unless we get Mass Effect 3 with the Mass Effect 4 engine and all the DLC. That would be cool. Alternate it every title.

I am not mad that Mass effect is coming to the PS3 or that it will be better I want Mass effect to get to other people. It just bugs me that I payed for all that DLC there was a lot of it and now it's all for free and the game will look like ME 3 I feel like I got screwed.

I highly doubt it.

And also how many discs will the 360 ME3 take? 5?
Probably just two again, I imagine.
Well that means the 360 one will have to cut back on the graphics I imagine... Personally would want the 360 one to have more discs then.

Game company: We're releasing Game A on 360 'cause that fanbase rocks.
360 Owner: Suck on that PS3 idiots.
PS3 Owner: That game looks shit anyway rather have Game B.
Game Company: We're releasing Game A on PS3 and it will be much better because PS3 fans are the best and we didn't want to give them the shit version.
360 Owner: What the #*£% I really enjoyed that game, how dare you give me an inferior product.
PS3 Owner: Now who's the idiot 360 morons.
Game Company: We're releasing Game A2 on 360 'cause they deserve new products, not just tarted up old games.
360 Owner: We still get the best NEW games, up yours PS3, erm..., plebeians.
PS3 Owner: What the #*£% You give me a better version of Game A, then do this to me.
Game company: Never underestimate the gullibility of the average consumer. (Said while rolling in piles of cash.)

The most significant choices, sure.

But I liked how the game referenced the little ones on occasion. Like with Helena Blake and others.

You'll get the gist of the story, and the choices, at least.
The 360 version also allowed you to decide who dies if you don't port the save over, that isn't even worth mentioning in this article, it's implied.

It's all about being able to carry the saves, and there is no way I would have waited a year anyway.

I am a rabid 360 fanboy, but I don't feel left out by this, if Bioware wants to throw PS3 users a bone for waiting so long, good on them.

(Also the free DLC doesn't really matter, since I'm assuming they won't be releasing the PS3 version at the same price the 360 version has dropped down to by now)
