Good for the PS3 owners who had to miss out on the first game and the sequel, and while it sucks that they won't be getting a port of the original, the comic will help clear up any confusion, hopefully.

And its good too that they're building it on the ME3 engine. I can't wait to see what it'll capable of.

Holiday 2011 will not get here fast enough.

I feel this is slightly unfair and sort of snubbing their nose at the people (PC and 360) who bought the games and made it possible for this to even be happening. They didn't "wait" they simply had no option to play it on their system. It's like saying that I, born in 1983, "waited" for the entire original Star Wars trilogy to come out before seeing it. It sounds ludicrous and frankly I "waited" to get the Mass Effect 2 DLC, as in I haven't purchased any aside from Lair of the Shadow Broker, so by their logic I should be getting the DLC and all that special goodness for free as well. It's irritating, I'm not a fanboy necessarily but I do feel like Bioware is handling this situation like idiots.

Personally if I were them I'd release all the Mass Effect 2 DLC for free across all platforms the day that it releases on PS3 just so that the original fanbase, a la the people who bought the games and supported the community and made it possible for Bioware to even think about making a PS3 version, wouldn't be getting a big fucking middle finger.

Sounds attractive, but I'm still of the opinion the PC version is better, if only because it means I never have to probe for minerals.
say what? That's not fair. I hated that part. Although if I had to choose between probing for materials from space or having to find them by driving around on the planet in a car that handles like a flying brick, throw me the keys!

And OT, while it's nice that people who have PS3 (not me) can finally play one of the best games to come out recently, I feel kind of cheated since I had to BUY all of the DLC while they just had to wait long enough for it to be given to them. And I guess if I think about it, I'm sure a version of ME2 will come out with all the DLC included, like Fallout 3 and other games eventually do. But it still seems a bit unfair.

I don't see why this should incite a flame war. What with how long the Playstation crowd has had to wait for this game to be released, I'd be pissed if they didn't try to make up for it.
I don't know if this was your intention, but you come across as INCREDIBLY entitled here. Bioware never had to release the game on PS3, it was originally conceived as an Xbox 360/PC exclusive. What they're doing here is VERY generous.
And by VERY generous to PS3 owners you mean, Bioware making millions of dollars for them selves with the old supply and demand move.
And now that we know ME3 engine works on the PS3, well the writing is on the wall.
Games for everyone, Yay.

Using the Mass Effect 3 engine? Makes me wonder if there will be much of a difference in the visuals, as well as the only things that irks me.

I. just annoyed that Mass Effect, a game that was exclusive to xbox is going to ps3 with better graphics, and free DLC. i have quite a few friends who told love rubbing in their exclusives, ie: god of war, infamous, little big planet... and here i was proud of Mass Effect A great game that stood with the best of them, and probably the 360's best exclusive (console wise) and if not the best close to it. now i get those same ps3 people who at first loathed the fact that i got mass effect and they couldn't give me crap cuz now they're going to get it.

and i can't get all the DLC because i just can't afford it with all the most recent expenses i have, when i got ME2 it didn't have Car insurance, senior dues, a class trip, and college to worry about. now i do so these people get it ll for free? gad that pisses me off

They neglected to mention the PC version in all of this. You know, the best version?
PC version of Mass Effect 1 maybe. There might as well be no difference between platforms in ME2.

For those diehard fanboys who refuse to admit that another system could ever be good, though, Mass Effect 2 is a flashpoint - one of the most prominent Xbox 360 exclusives, now making its way to the PS3.
Mass Effect was never an exclusive. The term "exclusive" implies that it only exists on a single platform, which neither of the Mass Effect games did. They were released for both Xbox 360 and PC.

Halo: Reach was an exclusive title. Wii Fit was an exclusive title. Mass Effect 2 was not an exclusive title.
Speaking in terms of the console wars, it is an exclusive.
Yeah, but which (rational) person cares about those? :p

Because some people feel a little cheated by paying for DLC then hearing lots of people are getting it for free.

Like me, i'm a little annoyed. I don't care as much to start a flame war, but come on, what the hell is up with that?
Do you feel cheated by the people who can buy the 360 version for $20 and get the DLC that comes to being less than $60? If not, you should. It's the same thing.
Yeah sure, that's now. If that happened now i'd understand. But that's not the case. When I brought it, when it was £45. £40 pre-owned and we still had to pay for the DLC if we got the pre-owned copy. So yeah I can feel slightly cheated, knowing they're getting a better deal than I did.

I'm sorry to say this but people who are pissed off about the DLC being included in the PS3 version of the game only have yourselves to blame. That's what you get for accepting the idea of PAYING for DLC. I never liked that industry trend from the get-go and I will continue to never pay for DLC in the future. These days, games that release a ton of DLC usually end up with "Game of the Year" or "Ultimate" editions in the future anyway.

So essentially this is our Mass Effect 2 "Game of the Year" or "Ultimate" edition. I am not surprised.
Since when do consumers have psychic powers that tell them what to wait for?
Consumers have choice. No psychic powers necessary.

Nah, you can probably run it on low. It's really the story that matters anyway, but then you won't be able to play your save file from the original if you still wanna do PS3 and that would probably suck...soooo get an Xbox! Or a better computer! :D

All of the DLC for free?! I...I can't be the only one pissed of about this.

A 360 owner, even with the preorder bonus, would still have to pay over 50 bucks for that. How the fuck is this fair?!

Still glad Mass Effect is reaching a bigger audience, but come on!

OH NO, MORE PEOPLE WILL GET TO PLAY A GAME I LIKE!

This fills me with a non-specific brand-loyalty-generated rage!

Seriously, though. Who cares?

So for discussion value: Anybody actually know how to make the textures in ME2 on the PC higher resolution? I'm tired of great faces and blurry armor... And I'm not getting a PS3...
I feel like I'm shamefully self-promoting, but I'm actually working on a texture modification for ME2 PC that brings all the character textures to double or quadruple the default resolution.
I tried finding one with no luck. And tweaking the .ini files to get it to work (all I could do was get close up textures to not stream in properly when I told it to use higher resolutions... That is, it takes the low res texture and filters it at higher resolutions, or that's what it should have done, but it just displayed black instead...)

Let me know when you get it done, I would greatly appreciate it...
