The PS3 version will also include bug fixes, all of the DLC released for ME2 thus far, and - given the nature of the PS3's Blu-Ray discs - will not require the player to swap discs. Sounds pretty good, right?

BEGIN RAGE

Fuck you Bioware. And I thought you were a good company.

Why the shit would you give them all the DLC on the PS3 included in the game. I had to pay for my DLC and I bought the damn collector's edition (Which is ironically titled, given the main enemy is the Collectors...). And I only had to swap disks for installation (actually, I just put the second disk in another CD drive, so suck it 360). Bug fixes are also free and easy to get for the PC version (don't know about the 360 patching situation), so why is this an adversisment point?

And another thing... Why didn't the PC version have better textures? They did it with ME1, why didn't they do it with ME2? Now they are going to do it for the PS3? Release them online as an "HD Patch," I'd PAY for it. Since so far my tweaking of game files had led me to no improvement, but I'm probably going to go back and make them fucking work given my current state of pissed off.

END RAGE

So for discussion value: Anybody actually know how to make the textures in ME2 on the PC higher resolution? I'm tired of great faces and blurry armor... And I'm not getting a PS3...

I do think that it's a great idea for PS3 gamers to enjoy Mass Effect, I just feel like even with all of these upgrades they're still getting the short end of the stick. Without Mass Effect 1 it still really isn't a whole experience

So, Bioware and Valve are both twats. Inciting flamewars for the sake of it is bloody stupid, and makes people less willing to buy their game on the affected console. But at least Bioware will be correct, this has all the patches and DLC. Still, very stupid comment.
Or perhaps they're just trying to encourage PS3 owners to buy their game since they've had such a long delay on it, and have foolishly assumed then gamers aren't a bunch of morons who feel the need to ***** and moan about why their console of choice is better?
What delay? Last time I checked there was no delay. The game is being released at the set date.

Also, Woodsey is right. Bioware is basically calling the 360 and PC consumer a "fool" for buying the game early. Gamers who were devoted to the series are being crapped on. "So you bought the game and then proceeded to pay for every single tid bit of DLC we crapped out of our asses? GOOD! But guess what, we've got this new and improved version with all the DLC AND better graphics. It's going to be on the PS3 only by the way. Have a good one!".

It's insulting.

Well, everybody gets to play Mass Effect 2. I'm happy.
Not Nintendo Wii owners, but really who cares about them :p
Me, I am one.
But I'm also a PC owner, and a PS3 owner. I get basically the best of all the worlds.

To me, it feels a little insulting that as the buyer of the primary version, I get less for the money. I don't mind that the PS3 get the game, that's perfectly fine. I do mind however that once they get what was supposed to be an exclusivity, they even get the sweeter deal. Being a fan of the series, it's as if I was "punished" for buying the game as soon as I could. Exclusive DLCs, shoddy ports, superior versions specific to a single console... those are lame tactics. I prefer it by far when everyone gets the same version as much as possible, no matter the SKU.

Edit: And I want to add that it's not as if I was enraged or anything about this topic, I'm not getting into the flamewar and I'm not one of those fanatics that can't accept this kind of business decisions. I'm just saying that learning this came with a bitter taste.
You mean just like people are "punished" for buying a game before a GotY or ultimate edition comes out? Should I demand I get all the Borderlands DLC free? How about the Fallout 3 DLC?

Delay over the release of the other iterations; and what you said and what I have said are not at all the same.

I would declare it fair considering the price of the game has fallen, and that combined with the DLCs would bring you up to about the right price anyway.

That picture just has infinite uses, doesn't it?
And I for one, am actually a little bit jealous of the PS3 version, if only for the 15 minute interactive comic, sometimes I just wanna jump in to a new Mass Effect 2 game without getting the horribly depressing default storyline, and without spending the 15-40 hours crafting a new character in ME1.

For that, I'm envious. For all the graphics and frame rate and other fan wank stuff... meh.

I don't see why this should incite a flame war. What with how long the Playstation crowd has had to wait for this game to be released, I'd be pissed if they didn't try to make up for it.
Because some people feel a little cheated by paying for DLC then hearing lots of people are getting it for free.

Like me, i'm a little annoyed. I don't care as much to start a flame war, but come on, what the hell is up with that?

Hey Bioware. This is me not caring.

I already played Mass Effect 2. I didn't encounter any bugs, so bug fixes don't bother me (although I hope you would release a title update for the 360 version if possible, they are still your customers no matter what platform they bought your game on). I'm not a graphics whore so I don't care about what are likely very minor graphical improvements. And I say this because Mass Effect 2 was already a pretty good looking game, so it's not like the difference in graphics will be like what you'd see comparing a Nintendo 64 to a PS3. No swapping discs? I'm glad PS3 users get the advantage of the blu-ray disc once again, but switching a disc really wasn't ruining my experience so I'm not going to rage about that either. Mass Effect 3 engine? Call me crazy but we'll all get to see that in Mass Effect 3 next year, so I'm not going to QQ about that either. DLC? Bought it. Played it already. Basically it's like a GOTY version, you wait longer to play but you get DLC included in the box.

And really, even if anything did bother me, what point is there in this fanboy flamewar nonsense? If I wanted all the new improvements and whatnot to Mass Effect 2 that badly, I would just buy a copy of the PS3 version and play the game over again, not go flame people who like Playstation.

I love Mass Effect, it was the main reason I bought a 360

But I prefer my PS3, and if this game will be better on PS3... then I might buy it :D

Do you feel cheated by the people who can buy the 360 version for $20 and get the DLC that comes to being less than $60? If not, you should. It's the same thing.

Is it bad that I'm re-buying ME2 on the PS3?
No, it makes you cool! Not as cool as me, Miss Already-Bought-The-PC-and-Xbox-360-Versions-Of-Mass-Effect-and-Mass-Effect-2. Gotta give Bioware all the money I can without being, uh, ridiculous?

It'll give me a good reason to create a new character, so I'll finally be able to test Garrus's reach and Shepard's flexibility.

With our luck, the new engine will completely destroy the game, give it a horrible framerate and we'll never get a patch for it.

Please...don't let that happen ;(
