I don't see why this should incite a flame war. What with how long the Playstation crowd has had to wait for this game to be released, I'd be pissed if they didn't try to make up for it.
I don't know if this was your intention, but you come across as INCREDIBLY entitled here. Bioware never had to release the game on PS3, it was originally conceived as an Xbox 360/PC exclusive. What they're doing here is VERY generous.
I don't even like the PS3 myself, but they have been going back and forth about releasing the game or not. This being a series where it's actually quite important that you've played the previous titles, it would be half-assed to just release a single game, or release two of them without any compensation for not giving the player base a chance to move over their save title.

Now stop reading into things that aren't there, ktxbye.

So for discussion value: Anybody actually know how to make the textures in ME2 on the PC higher resolution? I'm tired of great faces and blurry armor... And I'm not getting a PS3...
I feel like I'm shamefully self-promoting, but I'm actually working on a texture modification for ME2 PC that brings all the character textures to double or quadruple the default resolution.

I don't mind who gets the game, my only gripe with ME2 (on the PC) is that for the very reason the 360 version had to go across two DVD's, you can't get some of the characters until the second act (For example, Tali, Legion), despite them having voice acting (interesting stuff to boot) during the first. Which apparantly blue ray has now fixed so it wouldn't have been that way in the first place!
Take for example having Tali when you first meet Garrus (Who know each other) or taking Legion to recruit Tali.

It annoys me that the only way to get those experiences is to mod the game files so that instead of the recruitments, or worst of all, the IFF mission => suicide mission progression (What, I can't tell my own crew to wait for a bit before plugging the sodding thing in??), being so linear, you can hear the extra chit-chat and just generally mix things up a bit!

I fail to see how the games will be any different on the different consoles. I don't play a game, especially a Bioware game, for graphics. I play it for the story and the fun. Unless they changed plot points, dialogue, and game mechanics, it's not any different.

Awesome, very happy to hear this. Didn't know they had redone the game with the engine for 3, that's removed any doubts about my pre-order.

They neglected to mention the PC version in all of this. You know, the best version?
Everyone always ignores the PC (and superior) versions...

Since this is coming straight from BioWare I'd say this has interested unlike previous announcements. Yes, I'm looking at you Valve! But now that more and more developers are doing ports (I'll call them that for the lack of a better word) games I've never had an interest in suddenly appear on my radar.

Is it bad that I'm re-buying ME2 on the PS3?
If it is, then we can be bad together.

Now that I have officially heard from Bioware (and not fans or websites) that there will be that comic thing, I'm picking it up. The comic better let me choose my romance option too though. If not, angry will follow.

Mass Effect isn't "exclusive" to the 360, it's on the PC, it's not "exclusive".

As a Ps3 owner, this is great news. Fills in Ps3 owners on what has happened so far and gives them more incentive to continue with the trilogy. I find it sad how some people have gone "OMG, BioWare, you're backstabbing your loyal fanbase!" because they decided to give the DLC to the PS3 owners. It's just compensation for the extra year or so we've had to wait for one-third of the entire trilogy.

Kinda makes you wonder who the real self-entitled people are.

As a PC owner, however, I'm going to be getting Mass Effect 1 and 2 for my PC (eventually) anyway, so that is the "best" version. It's still great news that the Ps3 is getting Mass Effect 2 and 3 and getting something to fill the void that Mass Effect 1 can't fill since that one was published by Microsoft.

I'm just waiting for VALVe to have the Mass Effects for a bundle or at a discount...any day now...

Kinda disturbing how one of the most memorable things about ME2 is Miranda's ass. Anyway, I don't care about the console war; as long as the game is released for the PC I'm happy.

ME1 is so tedious that I wouldn't even want to replay it if they released it for PS3. I already sold my 360 version of ME 2 so I might end up picking up the ps3 one.

Since Mass Effect 2 is more shooting-based than the first game I still prefer to have it on my Xbox360. Good thing that they actually put some work behind this though since ME2 on PS3 will cost as much as a new release.
Got both ME1 and ME2 for just 30£ I believe it was. <3

im actually happy and pissed that it went to the PS3 for 2 reasons....happy because people who own ps3's get to enjoy the fantastic mass effect 2, but pissed because us xbox owners arnt giving us any of there good game series!, we should at least get the next ratchet and clank game or something! but not matter how many PS3 owners go on about how there verson is "better" i can allways turn around and say to them that, i have mass effect 1, all you have is a little comic thing.

I'm sorry to say this but people who are pissed off about the DLC being included in the PS3 version of the game only have yourselves to blame. That's what you get for accepting the idea of PAYING for DLC. I never liked that industry trend from the get-go and I will continue to never pay for DLC in the future. These days, games that release a ton of DLC usually end up with "Game of the Year" or "Ultimate" editions in the future anyway.

So essentially this is our Mass Effect 2 "Game of the Year" or "Ultimate" edition. I am not surprised.
